Its much easier to work with if you hold it under warm water before you stick your fingers in it. Its much easier to work with when its warm. I've used this for over 7 years now.

I melted a can down, and added 1 table spoon of almond oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint oil. holds just as well, but it 100x easier to get into hair. also smells great. peppermint also aids hair growth
Mixing in some medium chain triglyceride fractionated coconut oil I believe would also help mix it into the hair. It's a lightweight oil that I use on the hair.
To wash Dax out in one wash. Cup your hand and pour some olive oil in, you can be generous, rub it in to your hair thoroughly mixing it in with the Dax, it will break down the Dax quite effortlessly whilst conditioning your hair. Apply some shampoo (I use Gunk and Go) and your done. Hair silky smooth and clean. :-)

Shampoo and conditioning. i use treseme shampoo and conditioner, it takes it right out. if you dont have that brand, another good method is to use a water based pomade. Let the water base sit in your hair and dry out the grease. then shampoo and condition. hope it helps
Did they really change the formula for Dax wave and groom ? I remember about 2 years ago when I first tried it it was really thick and hard to get on your hair with a lot of pulling but a lot of hold but I bought a new can recently and it's a lot softer greasier/shiny easier to put on and it has a lot less hold than before. not realy impressed with it.
I see all these comments that it's hard to wash out. for me it doesn't stay in for more than 4 hours. then it's gone :( how do I make it stay? do I need to grease up real bad and sleep with it or something?
Hair was too dry. DAX red needs to be applied on damped hair. Always wet your hair when you restyle the buildup from a previous day. Dax has a good hold but doesnt help with pliability.

Is your hair short still? If so, I'd just either deal with it or find a pomade with stronger hold to fight against your hair's pull. I found that after my hair started growing out a bit more, it became a bit easier to style. If it's long already, either use more product in that area or find a product with stronger hold.

I fucking hated dax wave and groom, it's so thick and really hard to apply on my hair (I'm mexican, my hair it's really thick). The scent isn't really good neither :( I had to buy other products and now I have a full can that I don't want to use anymore :(

Good video :) Hey man, I'm 26 and I've been using Dax red for about 5 years. I don't comb my hair back though because it doesn't look good on me haha. Basically I mess mine up and kinda spike it a little then comb it forward. I'm a little worried it might be encouraging my hairline to recede, though? It would suck if I had to stop using it because this is the only product that has ever truly worked for me, my hair is heavy, I've got the double crown and a cow's lick so dax is the only thing that holds it. Any thoughts from you or the viewers? I try not to use too much of it because this stuff does make hairs pull out as you rub it through, whether these are dead ones I'm not sure. @@fightermma his hair wasn’t prepared at all it looked like he put it in bed head or something. Normally people apply to either blow dried or towel dried hair because it makes the product easier to work with.
@@wickedwarrior7k I just wanted to hear his perspective. I'm fully aware how to use this hair product and to be drank he does look like he's using it wrong. In my experience you should wet your hair before using this. This product does not work well if you dry your hair with a towel after a shower. You want to wet your hair all over just enough so that the product can soak in.
I'm no person to give negative feedback, but you being unable to form your part is really holding you back from making these videos for the thick-haired community a lot harder. I strongly recommend to ask James (or anyone who parts, really) to teach you how to form a sharper part to make your videos a lot more effective.
James has also spoke to me about this. I haven't been taking this to the same level as what's been established by James, so this is something I'll definitely be working on for the future.

dax is one of the best out there. The scent isn't my favorite but i put a topper on for shine and a better smell. And washes out really easy.

First time i used was 2012 and i remember it being like superglue. I got a can recently and it seems a lot more oily and less stiff.

dish soap or olive oil. let it soak into hair for like 15 minutes then shower and use shampoo and conditioner
