[Edited for grammar] First time watching one of your reactions. Thank you for the fun time. Halloween is Definitely my favorite horror franchise, even the weird one or two installments. I just wanted to point out something I recently realized: In the scene when Loomis turns around and sees the station wagon Myers was driving around parked across the street, it hit me that Myers Parked It There When Loomis Wasn't Looking. Remember, Myers parked it in front of Tommy's house where Laurie Strode was babysitting, and directly across the street from Lindsey's house where Annie was babysitting. It was there when Annie took Lindsey across the street to Laurie Strode could watch her while she went to get Paul and fool around afterwards. Remember? He pops up behind it. So, if it was parked in that spot during that time, how did it get across from the Myers house a few blocks away? Tommy and Lindsey's houses aren't on the same block as the Myers house. He's hiding in plain sight, mocking Loomis, showing Loomis that he can't stop him. Myers Had to have known that Loomis was waiting for him at his house. So he Moved the station wagon across the street after Annie went into Tommy's house. Between then and after killing Annie, Myers moved the car and walked the couple blocks back. Because don't forget, when Myers is chasing Laurie back to Tommy's house, the station wagon isn't there. Just like he put the rake against the back door, knowing Laurie would try to escape that way when he made sure she couldn't get out through the front door. Nothing he does is an accident or sloppy. Laurie's the obsession (to use DBD phrasing). He's saving the best for last, so he's savoring it by toying with her. Including when he shakes the closet doors, and when he "missed" her on the couch and upstairs after sneaking up on her. His stalking is reconnaissance. He's plotting his schedule. I think it's why he finally kills Annie with the knife. If you notice, he was shaking her after choking her for a couple minutes. She wouldn't die, so he shakes her like, "Come on. Hurry Up And Die, stupid. I don't have all night." Watch that part again. It's kind of a trip once you see what he's doing. It's like when you realize Myers does this little "heh, heh" shake after one of Tommy's bullies runs into him and then runs away scared out of his mind. Watch that part again, too, for a quick laugh. Myers has a sense of humor beyond the ghost with glasses costume. It's peppered in here and there. Anyway, thank you for the fun time. I'll check out your Halloween II video as soon as I can
Constant tension guaranteed: a genre classic. Together with the superb music and creepy atmosphere, the film is John Carpenter's legendary masterpiece.
When watching Halloween, you always have to remind yourself of Halloween culture in America. Pranks being a major one. So it's hard to tell what's jokes and what's serious and on a day like that. Someone standing around with a mask on? It's the perfect day to do it on because almost everyone is wearing masks. That's what makes the use of the holiday is perfect. So, when Laurie went over to Lindsey's house after the weirdness on the phone, she genuinely thought her friends were just picking on her as usual and making her the butt of a joke/prank. Same as the neighbor that closed the blinds when Laurie was at the door screaming for help. It's Halloween in a small, quiet town, people are gonna think, "Oh, just bored teenagers trying to prank people", especially in the 1970s. That's part of the horror. It's just a normal small town neighborhood. The most trouble they get, probably some deliquents amd the town drunk, so it would have been what was considered "a safe environment", especially back then. Not serial killings...
14:16, "Stop coughing. What's the matter with you?"😂The important question is, who taught Michael to drive? He drives better than most people today (he made a full stop and turned the corner perfectly, but didn't use the turn signal, lol).
It was also made one a skintight budget of $130,000 - $30,000 was paid to Donald Plesance. The film. much to their surprise, was a hit and made millions back then, and it is still a classic today.
The reason why Laurie isn't one step ahead or prepared is because it's 1978. It was a much more innocent time. People let their back doors open, there were no slasher movies or masked men attacking people so the idea of fighting back or knowing there's a killer around wasn't realistic. John Carpenter's idea for this was bringing something terrifying to suburban America. That's also why there's no gore. This was all new and original at the time. Halloween created the cliches that would define the slasher genre for the next 40 years. That ending was insane when it was first released.
Yep. The terror was in the cities, not in a small, close-knit suburban community. And nothing that bad really happened before or after the night Myers killed Judith... in the movie. The book mentions a couple other times in the town's history because of something brought up later. But, as is, they had nothing bad happening except kids playing pranks and sometimes destroying things and annoying the neighbors. That's why Nobody helps, reacts, or believes anything more is going on than the usual Halloween shenanigans And Myers Knows this
Sometimes I feel that people don't truly appreciate the significance of the final scene. It's the ultimate cliffhanger ending. In the apparent moment where we FINALLY achieve decisive victory against our deadly foe, it's ripped away from us one last time and leaves us grasping for a rational explanation as to how he could possibly still be alive. It's at that moment, with the sound of Michael continuing to breath filling the room, the house, the street, etc, that we realize the Dr. Loomis was right about him. He isn't a Man. He's something beyond that and he's out there somewhere. The Boogeyman. The Shape. Evil.
Unfortunately when Halloween was on VHS and the quality was not great you couldn't see how he killed Annie but when it was released on DVD and cleaned up you see him using the knife to slit her throat
I enjoyed your reactions & conversation during parts of the movie in response to the way people in movies react versus the way people would react in real life. I appreciate your rationale
Great reaction!! Please don't forget Texas Chainsaw Massacre- 1974. 2003 remake is great but the original is waay more gritty... not "gore" for the sake of "gore".
Check out the movies Trick ‘r Treat(2007), Friday the 13th Part 2(1981), Halloween ll(1981), Scream(1996), The Shining(1980), Child’s Play(1988), A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984), and Scream 2(1997).
People keep saying the characters of this movie do stupid things because it’s an old movie. But look at scream and how often Ghostface falls down easily. It’s practically a comedy.
No one is saying that. We expect the teens to get killed in these slasher movies. It's a trope. They're always the ones being stalked. This is why we have a final girl. The slashers go through all of the rest until they get to the last one. Murdering pets, little kids and even the elderly is considered petty and pathetic. They pose no threat and are typically innocent and defenseless.
It's not gonna be scary if you're watching it in a well lit room for a reaction channel. It's plenty scary if you're watching it in a dark theater or alone.
That's what I'm thinking. It's supposed to be Halloween scary season and everyone's watching with all the lights blazing. Only a couple reaction channels I watch have infrared on the cameras so they can be seen reacting in the dark. More should try it. Or at least dim the lights. hahaha
The knife Michael uses is the same type of butcher knife Norman uses in Psycho. Sam Loomis is named after Janet Leigh's boyfriend in Psycho. Jamie Lee Curtis is Janet Leigh's daughter. Made for around $300k and made over $70-75 millon worldwide.
There are a couple editing errors but on that budget it is understandable. Also, you guys realize he follows her because she walked onto the porch. Psychopath is reason enough.
It didn't really get talked about much back then but the theory is, Michael has some form of teleportation ability. That's why he can appear, disappear and reappear within seconds.
I Never heard that fan theory until much later. Jason Voorhees was the first to be thought to have it, and then people began to say Myers has it, too. I don't think he teleports. He just plans everything out to a tee. That's what being a stalker gets him. He's extraordinarily observant and intelligent. While everyone's just doing whatever, he's setting things up, plotting, and planning. That's what the masks, knives, and rope that was stolen from the store that afternoon illustrates. Even knowing how to drive. You heard Loomis. He Sees and Plans. Myers has been watching everyone and everything. It's likely how he knew how to drive. Just a couple thoughts
Since y’all are checking out the earlier movies of the series, the golden age of horror/slasher films, I recommend ya’ll react to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (70s) it’s about the same feel as Friday The 13th 🪓and Halloween. 🎃
Actually, there were many, extremely gory films in the seventies. In that same year was "Dawn Of The Dead," for instance. The following year was "Alien." And if you went to Times Square back then, you could see literally, hundreds of B-grade and lower horror films absolutely dripping with gore at any of the grind house cinemas. However, Carpenter intentionally made this almost bloodless, as he wanted to make it more about suspense and atmosphere.
I agree with other watch the second one because it’s this same night and finishes it off so don’t watch any others u til that one but I also liked season of the witch,4,5 and curse of Michael Myers’s, resurrection and of course the new Halloween series from 2018 on. Halloween started it all so this is the original before Jason.
When I was in elementary and middle school (a long time ago) our school would hold a raffle and the kids could win a pumpkin to take home for Halloween. I always figured that's what they were doing here. They just didn't explain it. Lol
@@kellifranklin4432Yep. My parents said that they'd give out these huge pumpkins to the winner of the school's costume contest. So, I always thought Tommy won the contest and Lonnie's little triad were jealous and tripped him to make him drop it
Of the 'big 3' of late 70s/early 80s horror (Halloween, F13, Elm Street), Halloween comes out the gate strongest. Carpenter's chilling score, the use of lingering POV shots coupled with heavy breathing (something Black Christmas did a few years before), and showing the lurking killer to build suspense all combine really well here into an icon of early slashers. The series does go off the rails pretty quick when they bring Mikey back after attempting to go in a new direction with 3 (which is good, but not what fans were expecting). By the time Halloween 4 came out, there were already a half dozen insane F13 sequels (and a handful of Elm Streets) so horror fans had really latched on to it being the killers who carry the series, for better or worse, and Halloween jumped on the trend 😅
At the beginning when he steals the car and you ask what was in his hand when he broke the window... It's a movie mistake, he had a wrench in his hand so it would actually bust the window but they didn't think anybody would notice... It was a great catch, but my favorite Halloween/horror YT channels talked about this 5-6 years ago. We Watched A Movie (WWAM), Dave McRae, Jimmy Champane, Wolfman's Got Nards, Dr Wolfula, Cody, and a couple other Halloween-focused channels talk about it in their Halloween 78 commentaries and behind the scenes chats, alone and whenever they get together. Check them out. They're really versed in Halloween lore, filmmaking, and the horror genre

I don't remember if I read that in the novelization or if it's something my friends and I would talk about. I mean, their plans Were pretty convoluted. haha

You two actually get the reason why Michael went after Laurie. She was the first woman he saw at his house dropping off the key and she reminded him of his sister Judith.

I don't have all night."
Watch that part again.
I'll check out your Halloween II video as soon as I can
I waited till got a little bit older to watch this . The original name for this was The babysitter murders .
Constant tension guaranteed: a genre classic.
Together with the superb music and creepy atmosphere, the film is John Carpenter's legendary masterpiece.
U guys r good I saw this 200x but seeing someone see this masterpiece 4 the first time is great
You guys should watch The Exorcist! The 70s has some really great horror classics 🔥🔥
It’s kind of overrated
Gore isn't scary it's just lazy. Atmosphere is how to scare your audience.
So very true
Gore isn’t lazy. It adds to certain movies.
@@FresnoCA93727yeah like Saw not this
Halloween is the gone with the wind of horror movies
14:16, "Stop coughing. What's the matter with you?"😂The important question is, who taught Michael to drive? He drives better than most people today (he made a full stop and turned the corner perfectly, but didn't use the turn signal, lol).
John Carpenter said he wrote/recorded all the music in three days (main title in an HOUR!)
That’s set up scene was the scariest thing I have ever watched
Ya'll should watch Carpenters The Thing (1982)
Myers will always be scariest slasher to me because he has utterly brute strength but he can always be watching you. The stealthiest slasher
You must check out Carrie 1976 movie
Check out PJ Soles she played in the original 1976 Carrie you will love it.
That's why Nobody helps, reacts, or believes anything more is going on than the usual Halloween shenanigans
And Myers Knows this
In the 1960s people in small towns seldom locked doors & windows, even when they would leave home for a few hours.
The Shape. Evil.
Lol what happened to his eye? Litterally a couple of mins after he got stabbed in it with a coat hanger.
Greetings from Chicago. 🙏
Hello Sam & Tristan. Jamie Lee Curtis was 19 years old during the filming of the original Halloween film.
People keep saying the characters of this movie do stupid things because it’s an old movie. But look at scream and how often Ghostface falls down easily. It’s practically a comedy.
Every female reactor to horror films "kill the teenagers, but LEAVE THE DOG ALONE!!"
I’m a male and I definitely say that.
Or at least dim the lights. hahaha
Imo, the original Halloween (both 1 and 2) are some of the scariest works of horror on cinema. It sticks with you the rest of your life!!! lol
Fun fact: The voice of Paul, Annie's boyfriend is the director John Carpenter
Parts 1 & 2 are 1 long movie & you have to watch part 2 to get the full story. Also part 2 is faster paced with more action.
What makes Michael scary to me is that he looks like a normal 21-year-old young man under that mask despite his left eye injury.
Lindsey is played by one of the housewives Kyle Richards. I think she’s Paris Hilton’s aunt, she also comes back in Halloween kills which is cool
Simply, for the fact that you called him, Michael Myers
Instead of half the reactors call him, Mike
You’re already aces in my book
Thank you
Agree. hahaha
The only ones that matter
Halloween II (1981)
also the original of course
Halloween (2018)
Halloween Kills
This movie is a classic you guys always make my day god bless you guys love you both ❤
It's Halloween. I must say you guys would rock the Steampunk look.
There are a couple editing errors but on that budget it is understandable. Also, you guys realize he follows her because she walked onto the porch. Psychopath is reason enough.
21:19. Lindsay isn't answering the phone because she thought it was smudge the cat! If you know you know.
It didn't really get talked about much back then but the theory is, Michael has some form of teleportation ability. That's why he can appear, disappear and reappear within seconds.
naw hes just lame
Since y’all are checking out the earlier movies of the series, the golden age of horror/slasher films,
I recommend ya’ll react to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (70s) it’s about the same feel as Friday The 13th 🪓and Halloween.
The first person point of view is more a Jason thing than Michael Myers. It was taken from the Italian Giallo proto-slasher films of the 70's.
1960s. It was a time with less crime. Nobody locked doors & windows.
Subscribed. Great movie reaction. I look forward into seeing your reaction to 1981’s HALLOWEEN II.
I agree with other watch the second one because it’s this same night and finishes it off so don’t watch any others u til that one but I also liked season of the witch,4,5 and curse of Michael Myers’s, resurrection and of course the new Halloween series from 2018 on. Halloween started it all so this is the original before Jason.
old movies not that scary? like any movie from the last 30 years been scary xD
Kazzam. "Have you ever seen Shaq act?"
Rip Donald Pleasance
I never understood the idea behind that pumpkin that Tommy was carrying out of school. Did the school give it to him or did he bring it from home?
When I was in elementary and middle school (a long time ago) our school would hold a raffle and the kids could win a pumpkin to take home for Halloween. I always figured that's what they were doing here. They just didn't explain it. Lol
@@kellifranklin4432Yep. My parents said that they'd give out these huge pumpkins to the winner of the school's costume contest. So, I always thought Tommy won the contest and Lonnie's little triad were jealous and tripped him to make him drop it
I really really like to see darwin nuñez reaction movies is so cool .
Thanks to Sam and Tristan! 🎃
If you want to take the shortcut and be caught up, Then watch the new 2018 trilogy. It’s actually really decent besides Halloween ends lol
At the beginning when he steals the car and you ask what was in his hand when he broke the window... It's a movie mistake, he had a wrench in his hand so it would actually bust the window but they didn't think anybody would notice... You're honestly the first reactors to notice he had something in his hand.
It really was a great catch by these two.
26:02 I was always confused by that part too.
I think Steve is drunk, so he's confusing the names of Linda's friends. I think they're kinda new as a couple, so he's getting the names of her friends and the kids they're babysitting, and the houses mixed up.
Or, he was pretending to be mixed up and saying it to be funny, which is why Linda laughed... I don't remember if I read that in the novelization or if it's something my friends and I would talk about.
I mean, their plans Were pretty convoluted. haha
Sam & Tristan just in case both of y'all love birds are curious Michael The Boogeyman/The Shape Myers was Originally designed/made 2 be an almost Supernatural Force (Superhuman Physique (with Superhuman Durability as well as Superhuman Physical Arm Strength of unknown degree/limit) & who's Supernaturally Edged: Supernatural Healing Factor with each n every kill + seems 2 have the Ability 2 Teleport 2 virtually wherever he wants) a virtually Indestructible/Unillable/Unstoppable Evil Force of Nature that's loose & though he may appear/look/seem human 2 the both of y'all except he's not entirely human otherwise he would've died + stayed dead after every fatal Physical Thing that's been done/happened 2 him!
Fun fact the voice of Annie's boyfriend Paul was John Carpenter
You guys need to complete the trifecta now and watch the OG nightmare on elm street movie!
The little girl Lindsay is now one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Loved This! Just Submitted!
Recommend:
Sleepaway Camp trilogy
Black Christmas
American Gothic
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Sam kinda reminds me of Sarah Louise Parker looks wise.
God forbid he looked at her for 2-3 seconds longer than you were comfortable with. 💀 People can look where they want, tf.
Why you guys don't have patreon ? Need full movie reaction
Fun fact... Sean Cunningham director of the first Friday The 13th... Directly ripped off Halloween, and he even admits it. Because he seen the critical success of Halloween. So if it wasn't for Halloween, Friday The 13th would of never existed.
Michael was 6 when he killed his sister. Before that happened he found a bonfire with people around it and he got possessed
What? hahaha.
Where did you read/hear that?
Are you confusing what happened to Myers with the Ende story in the novelization?
haha
You two actually get the reason why Michael went after Laurie. She was the first woman he saw at his house dropping off the key and she reminded him of his sister Judith.
She's more than that, she's Michael Myers sister!
they are brother and sister
@@surf101- well of course we know that, but I don’t think the og commenter wanted to spoil the movie for the reactors.
Robotic Reactions
15:50 hmmmm. If u know u know
Great reaction! just subscribed i really don’t like films from this era being called (Old) there are various issues but, if you go back 20 earlier Horror was silly and aimed at kids (Without Psycho, TX Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist & Night of the Living Dead Horror in North America would’ve never evolved (But, the entire Slasher Sub genre was ripped-off from Italy with the Giallo) The Giallo is ground zero for every American slasher (it doesn’t get nearly enough credit for influencing North America
Jamie was 20 then
But she pretended to be just 17
19*
Can you guys please react to the rest of the Halloween series? ❤
If you watch the 1st.you have to watch them all.Good or bad.
Have you guys ever seen dark knight or casino royale?
By today's standards. what would you consider scary? What movie has come out that has the benefit of being scarier just because it was made within the last few years?
Watch the 80s "the thing" please
You will understand why he wanted her when you watch Halloween 2 1981
When the girl got stuck in the window, all I could think of was help stepbro. 😂
you need jesus
