Peerless was by far the best distillery we visited in KY last week. After seeing their process and what goes into their juice (sweet mash vs. sour mash) and the fact that they don't add water or chill filter, I have no issue paying a premium price for a premium product. Our TW has their SB stuff for $64 and you can always find SiB picks for around $85. I'll always have 2-3 different Peerless bottles in my bar.
I need to keep an eye out of a pick from them. I want to like it, but I need the right bottle.
Have bought it for 80 when they first dropped and I absolutely loved it. Costco just had em for 60 so had to get one
That's a good price, but I'm just not a big fan of the flavor profile. Cheers!
Eee!!! Another great review, Brother! I’m going to need to grab a bottle when I have a chance! 🎉
Thanks. Cheers!
It is $65 in Houston, TX. I really like it because it is a well rounded bourbon.
The flavor profile has been growing on me lately. I like the $65 price point. Cheers!
Just picked it up for 50 dollars
I would say that's a great price. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!
Sip!
Admittedly Peerless holds a special place for me and I own that bias, however the journey from full to empty (at least my particular) bottle was so unique and satisfying. Started off very hot spice and mellowed into complex albeit common bourbon notes, but showcasing as top tier bourbon. Price is a big factor, I think an apt price comparison could be Elijah Craig BP store picks, and at $79 (Oregon) the step up to Peerless is not large yet the rewards are exponential - if the resources are there, Peerless rules.
Curious how your bottle evolves over time (follow up video?) Thanks for reading my TED talk opinions.
Cheers to the channel 🥃
I will keep sipping on it and let you know if anything changes over time. Cheers. TED talks are great...keep them coming.
86 dollars isn’t crazy for a single barrel. But I would pass if I saw something I’m familiar with at the same price. Just saying we all have our special bottle. Enjoy!!
Agreed! Especially with the strange note that's going on in this bottle. I would definitely pick something up that I was more familiar with. Cheers.
hi, im just commenting for the algo.
Okay 👍
It’s the Jews
@@weslegna It will always be something or someone.
@@spilledfeed you’re not wrong. But on this planet it’s the Jews. And always has been the Jews.
I just paid 63 in Palm Coast, Florida.
And do you typically like Peerless? I just had the double oak rye. I was pleasantly surprised by it and I'm not typically a rye lover.
I've been a Bourbon fan for 40 years and I always bypassed Peerless. I saw it for a good price and snatched it up. I bought 5 bottles to day so I'll eventually try it.
Hi Peter, I didn't realize it until I zoomed in on you bottle that you are drinking the "Small Batch". I have not had that before but I did pay $69.99 for the "Single Barrel" selected (102.2) by a liquor store in the NorthEast, that was delicious. I did returned to buy a second bottle. Nice review, thanks, Mike.
Thanks Mike! Cheers! I am going to keep working my way through the bottle and try to get it into more videos and compare it to other bottles.
@@whiskeyisajourney You have a nice job ahead of you! Prost🥃
Holy crap! How'd you get a bottle of their Single Barrel for $70? If I ever came across that, I'd buy as much as I could... Peerless Single Barrel Selections are some of the best whiskey I've ever had. Also, if you can ever get a hold of their Rum Barrel Finished, don't pass it up. I got a bottle from the distillery at $150, and while that's really pricey, it's also worth every penny.
@@bobmyers7030 The supermarket in CT only got a limited amount and must sell it at a fixed price. I was lucky enough to get there in time to buy a second bottle. I will be on the look-out for the Rum Barrel so many thanks for the heads-up!
Wow what state you in where Peerless is $90!?!? I live in upstate NY and I just scored two bottles on sale for $39.99. I plan on buying one a week as long as they’re on sale so I have a nice backup. Great review/video.
I don't think you're the first person to say that about the price. I guess Phoenix Arizona is a lot more expensive than other states. Not sure why. Cheers!
I'm luke warm on the batched bourbon, but I have 2 single barrels. 1 is good, and 1 is great.
I'm still waiting to see a single barrel. Once I do I'll get it and compare. Cheers!
A major sip for me! I’m a Peerless fan: their rye, double oak & single barrels are excellent.
There is a funk in this bottle that I can't get over. I keep going back to it, but it keeps putting me off. I will keep drinking it...maybe I will learn to like it. 🤞🤞
@@whiskeyisajourney Their small batches are only 6-7 barrels so perhaps you got a rare bad one. I'd give them another shot and check your local large liquor stores and you should be able to land a bottle for around $65.
single barrel Frugal McDougal pick at 110 proof is phenomenal..
Is Frugal McDougal a liquor store and did they do a pick of the Peerless? I have noticed store picks are really good. I have not had a bad one yet. Cheers!
@whiskeyisajourney yes in fort mill SC..they do awesome picks..was a single barrel and very good..very similar to a rrsb but slightly better..the price however makes it hard to rebuy over a rrsb or bakers 7..cheers
Got a 115 proof I’m excited for. One behind it was much lower proof, so I was sold to finally try it.
Sip it! Truly enjoy Peerless: Single Barrels, Double Oak & their Rye. I’m a big fan.
I'm liking the Double Oak more than the other expressions these days. Cheers!
Thanks for another great review, Peter! Sounds like an interesting pour. Having said that, for me, I think this is a bit further down the list of bourbons that I want to try. Cheers!
Sounds reasonable to me. There are far more affordable bottles out there that are equal to this one.
Just got it today for $65 in California. Sip for me at that price.
Good price. It's expensive in Phoenix. Cheers!
I saw the Peerless Bourbon on the shelf for $69.99 by me. I had it in my hand and then passed. I then saw it for $79.99 at another liquor store. Going to go pick it up for $69.99. The Double Oaked was $99, but out of stock.
I think they are both a little too high in price for me. They are both good, but just too much money.
You can get double here for 70 and 60 for red bottle
It’s a sip all day for me - their double oak is fantastic
I have to spend more time with the double oak, but from what I have had from the bottle so far I like it.
Absolutely! The double oak is legit!!
59.99 I bought tasty fruity and 8/10
From what I can see from the comments my area charges way too much for this bottle. Happy to hear that you enjoy this bottle. Cheers!
We visited the Peerless distillery last year and had a great time. Great whiskey, but like you said, a bit too expensive. If we visit again, I'll buy a bottle for special occasions only!
I want to start visiting distilleries this year. I think the tours would be fun and very informational. Cheers!
They're a little more expensive at the distillery. You can get their small batch stuff anywhere so I didn't get them, but their SiB stuff is only available there (except store picks). Our total wine always seems to have a store pick SiB for around $85 and they're excellent. All the SiBs and their double oaked rye and bourbon were both phenomenal. So yeah I'm a huge Peerless fanboy.
Found them for $36.99 today. I’m gonna pick up a second just because of the price.
The more I see people post the price I wonder is this bottle was priced wrong in my area.
@@whiskeyisajourney hard to say. See the store that has them for $36 is a hole in the wall. While there is a big box store 20 minutes away that has it for $85 so it seems all over the place.
I'm on northern NY and just found them for 39.99. Damnits good going buy 2 more. Said they had to buy 500 bottles to get that price
60 here
$39 at my
Local store now just grabbed one
Fantastic price! I hope you like it. Cheers!
@@whiskeyisajourney goin in my dads stocking, we will pop her open at dinner
Nice review as always! My friend gave me a sample of Peerless single barrel pick and I thought it had a strange harsh burnt taste. Then I tried the Peerless regular offering and it had a strange flavor to me, so I’ll be skipping on all Peerless until I try a sample of their double oak. Cheers!
I also pick up on an off flavor. The double oak does not have the same note. At least to me it didn't.
