Never watched him play live but now i get why they call him the GOD..why is he called the player with the best technique and why is he called the greatest batsman ever ! Just fuckin look at the way he played spin on this rank turner, he played with a control percentage of approx 95.. middled every single ball except 2-3..look how he reached the pitch of each ball and tried to play it either straight or on leg side so as to avoid an edge, LBW or bat pad gap. Compare this with how other Indian batter played here or even with the ones against SA in 2023 CWC. This was a BATTING MASTERCLASS from the GOD OF CRICKET ❤

It wasn’t just his technique, many players had good technique even before him (Sunil Gavaskar for example), but Sachin was more than just his batting.….. you may have heard people of your previous generation say - “Sachin was an emotion”
India was a crap country until late 90s. Poor economy, never excelled in any sports. An average Indian was a beta. They lacked confidence (they looked western country with envy and/or with a submissive attitude). An average Indian was incompetent and corrupt.
We sucked in every sport. But then there was Sachin Tendulkar. Alpha attitude, trying to do impossible things.
Watch his “desert storm Sharjah” innings, and the following innings. Playing against Australia meant losing UNLESS “Sachin tendulkar does something”. That should tell you the kind of expectations he carried.
That desert storm match, every Indian (even the ones sitting in commentary box) were talking about “qualifying for finals”. It’s like winning was impossible …. chasing a required rate of 6.00 was futile in those days.
Even the target to qualify was pretty steep. Everybody kept an eye on “how much more to qualify”, but tendulkar was a sole Indian among 1 billion Indians, who was looking at “how much to win”. And had he stayed till end (4 more overs), he would have won that match.
Henry Olonga got him out on a short ball, and in next match, he didn’t come with the thought process of - “let me make sure I don’t get out same way”. He came out to take revenge. He destroyed olonga. He didn’t care about chasing the target, he was making a statement to Olonga - “How dare you”.
Everybody wanted him to represent India (not just in sport of cricket). He had good qualities of Indian culture - religious, polite, soft spoken- and had that alpha mindset of conquering impossible summits (something most Indians wished they had). He was a super hero to most Indians of that generation.
As they say - “Sachin Tendulkar was an emotion”.
Unfortunately when some people compare him to ponting, virat etc, they have recency bias. They remember last decade of Tendulkar, where he was technically sound, but didn’t stood out. A sehwag/yuvraj/dhoni century would be more destructive than sachin’s. Wear and tear on his body made him less destructive.
More over, with other good talents coming up, he no longer had to carry the burden of team by himself, so he didn’t necessarily had to “chase impossible things”. He could just rotate the strike and let sehwag and yuvraj do the destruction.
But from 1991/92 till 2003, he was an emotion. He was doing amazing things in one day, Brian Lara was doing amazing things in test matches. They both played with teams that would let them down. They both carried burden of expectations. They both went for impossible targets, when others wouldn’t even bother trying.
Current generation of batsmen are good, and will take over all of Sachin’s records. But Sachin will always stand out for those who saw him bat in 90s.

How did you manage to get the original Star Tv footage Anirudh bhai. A million thanks. What great control exhibited by the master against quality spin bowling. Cut across to today, a Sri Lankan spin attack of not even half of this runs through the famed Indian batting line up. Sachin Tendulkar was of a different league

For people like me or millions of others born after 2000, we love our cricket and we have always idolized batsman after Sachin's era. I am a huge MSD fan but now I understand as to why Sachin is called GOD. Thanks for the upload. Please upload more iconic knocks like these if possible.

they could have extended the video even further, an entire Indian batting after Sachin's dismissal would have been covered in just 5 more mins ... Sachin was the only show stopper during those days ...

Lol it was most likely pitched outside leg..and even his stride was long..so even the bounce may have saved him. At best it would have been an umpires call .
