I currently struggle with sin but I’ve gotten hold of the Truth, the King James Bible and its believers. Jesus showed me to Bryan Denlinger on TH-cam and later just last year, Jacob M. Thompson. I give Jesus the glory and the credit for finding Bryan Denlinger. I didn’t get saved right away and God still has a mess with me, but the seeds were planted and Jesus freed me. I sing this hymn to Jesus as a thank you and a praise.
Glad to hear you're on a journey getting closer to God! Just a word of caution...be careful not to get too attached to certain human teachers, especially ones who teach a lot of exclusivity. Particularly regarding the KJV, it's fine to use but do research on Old English so that you don't misunderstand a passage and better yet look into the original languages in which the bible was translated from, in order to get a well rounded understanding of the intent of each passage. God bless.

It may seem shocking, but this song was actually incredibly controversial when it was created. This song was written in the 1850’s, a few years before the civil war, anti-slavery movements were still on the fringe, violence had already broken out between slavers and Abolitionists out in the western territories, and many supporters of slavery claimed that slavery was divine in nature, that it was a gift of Providence to white civilization. So for a Unitarian minister to essentially say “Christ was an Abolitionist” was an incredibly risky thing to do. Unfortunately, but also not surprisingly, verse three (which deals with this subject directly) is the most of edited out verse of later subjects.
Oh did you get that right! In fact, the removal of the third verse is what I have against all the others. Some are very well done, but the third verse tells the true story. I have found very few that include it, but his time I searched specifically for three verses, and here it is. How about... "AMEN"!
Friend, stick with the Bible! Read it for yourself. Liars will be judged one day. Give glory to God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ! Amen! Merry Christmas friend!
There are countless renditions of this song - The secular world loves the tune, especially when it's sung in languages other than English - but verse 2 is now almost ALWAYS omitted because it's now seems to be considered more controversial than verse 3 (perhaps because it proclaims Jesus as King of kings worthy of true worship. As a song leader who can't read sheet music, I prepare throughout the week by listening to videos to make sure my melody/harmony & lyrics are spot on without constantly looking down at a hymnal or staring at the TV monitor on Sunday. Very difficult to do this without videos like this that stay true to the original. You, @acappellahymns , are a Godsend. Thank you .
Such a somber scene. So humble. Taught you to never judge a book by its cover. The snow shovel man was frightening but he was kind and humble. Something out of a light drama, I loved that part but it sorta juxtaposed the slapstick.
Thank you for recording this! This is the same arrangement from Howard's Songs of Faith and Praise, isn't it? I've always struggled to sight read this song but this recording helps tremendously!
You're very welcome! I think I recorded this one straight from Songs For Worship and Praise. So there's a good chance it's the same arrangement. Glad the recording helped!
No worries for a repost. You sang really well. I still say what I had said earlier. I would love to help you out in singing bass and/or Tenor but am not able to. Distance is an issue. But I can constantly remember you in prayer that you may grow immensely.

Hi brother! This is Jeremiah from Taguig Church of Christ congregation. I would like to request a song entitled "The Song of Wonderful Love". Thank you.
Not a good idea. Adolphe Adam was primarilly an opera composer, and thus when he came to write a Christmas song, he wrote it in the style to which he was accustomed. It is much less interesting in this style; in the orginal, the arpeggios in the strings/organ pull the tune along. This version drags.
The great thing about music is, everyone can have a different opinion about it and not everyone has to like it. In the realms of a cappella worship, this version is about right, though maybe a hair slow. But since many churches do not use instruments, arpeggiated accompaniment is not an option.
@@acappellahymns I played it back at 1.25 and that was ALMOST as fast as I like it. The arpeggio can be mimicked with "boms," but for a group that size, you need to have a good soloist :-) and if I ever get to put together a quartet (or greater) to go Christmas caroling, an arpeggio will be in the works. My only irk is the choice of, "O night, O holy night, O night divine," rather than, "O night, divine! O night, O night divine." Other than all that, I loved this. It teaches a good, basic baseline from which to springboard to other takes.

Oh night Divine,

To love one another
His law is love and

Chains shall he break
