I like Captain Kirk's objective point of view considering the fact that, like many of us, he loves Toyota and other Japanese companies. That Trax, a car at such a low price for what is offering, wow ! At first sight, good job, Chevrolet ! Let's hope for some reliability, now...

  • @tadinator1362
    @tadinator1362 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I've had my '25 LT for just over 2 weeks now and am very happy with it. I traded in a more expensive one year old Ford that I had special ordered, but due to the economy and medical expenses I had to reduce bills, and the Ford had to go. Oh well.
    Despite the criticisms others have reported about the Trax I find it does absolutely fine commuting. Yes, it does just fine on the expressway, too. As far as the transmission, I find it shifts just fine. Much of the time I find that the torque is more than sufficient to pull you away and up to speed coming out of corners or off ramps. The only thing I'm still adjusting to it modulating the throttle away from stops -- as I has to do with the Ford I had as well.
    Again, I traded in a one year old Ford I had special ordered, and aside from the utility and AWD that I lose, I'm not regretting my purchase one bit. Compared to the Ford which costs considerably more, the Trax rides better, is more stable at highway speeds and on windy days, it's quieter, the seats are more comfortable, it provides better fuel mileage, has a nicer interior which also seems to have better fit and finish, it's better equipped too! Again, for thousands less. ...$ 5,500 less to be exact.
    As far as the armrests that everyone seems to complain about, I have no issues with them at all. I've actually found them to be just fine. But maybe that just me, I'm not expecting it to be as cushy as was my mid 70's Buick.

    I drive the Trax's sister, the Buick Envista. My biggest and only complaint so far is that the 3 cyl has worse fuel mileage than my 2016 Ford Escape that has 173,000 miles. Why would engineers not develop an engine that can handle a turbo? It's not like they just go to a scrap yard and just throw a turbo on an engine. My Escape has a tiny little engine with a turbo and has 172k miles with very few problems. What is it with this "3cyl turbo bad" brigade that is on every video? You all just say the same thing which will NEVER persuade anyone to not shop on a budget if they cannot afford a 60k base model Toyota. It's a budget car. Get it through your heads.

    I bought my brand new 2024 Trax 1RS in June for MSRP $26,000 CAD ($19,000 USD). There's nothing out there that comes close to beating this value. My wife even said this thing looks better than most SUV on the road. I got 2 kids and there's so much room in the back, we live in the big city, so I much prefer the FWD for gas savings. GM Authority also reported Q2 2024 Trax sales far surpassed all subcompact SUV from any brand by a mile. I would say the only major downside is that half second delay in full stop acceleration, in emergencies, that could be the difference in crashing and avoiding.

    In the Northeast; just about every other car you see is a chevy trax. But go to SoCal or Southern Nevada and you mostly see Toyota Corollas, Camrys, 4Runners and Tacomas. In the Rust belt its not going to matter that your car has longevity of a Toyota because it's going to rust away in around 10 years. So you can actually get by with a Chevy or Ford which has a lower initial price. Plus because a lot of the big 3 automakers have had factories in the North for quite some time; people will also go for the chevy

    It’s not as big as you would think. Look at the rear hip room. It’s under 50 inches and there isn’t a headrest for the center seat, meaning you can’t put a car seat in the middle. The best value compact is the 2024 Subaru Impreza. The Impreza fits three car seats across the back. You can’t fit three across in a RAV4. The Sport trim, with rear center console, six speakers, updated infotainment, remote start, keyless entry, fog lights, and great looking 18” alloy wheels can be had for $26,500 OTD. I'm not a crossover guy, but as those things go this one looks pretty good inside and out and the price is right.
    Having said that, a tiny 3 cyl turbo seems to be asking for trouble as soon as the warranty runs out. Oh, and the fact it's a Korean design doesn't do much to allay those fears either. Sure they have a bit more experience with small displacement engines than Chevy, but all the Korean makes I know (Hyundai/Kia) are about on the same level as GM/Ford when it comes to reliability.
    Bottom line for me is this: let's all check back in about 5 years and see how these things age.😉

    Edit: yall are talking about priced right but what's the point when in 8-10 years your paying the same amount or more for cost repair once the car reaches 100,000 miles or more. Your settling for small amenities for comfort which I get but your giving up reliability for the long run that equals at the end of day what you call a money pit.
