Hey Mark awesome to see you review the tent actually out in the mountains... Much harder to do that the back garden reviews done by so many... Pitching in wind. Yeah you dont see many TH-camrs or manufacturers doing that either.. A really great review with some interesting headings for your chapters.. Looking forward to your next one.... Best wishes Tom
Thanks Tom. Glad you enjoyed it. Totally agree with it being much harder in a real world setting. I was trying to juggle that with an enjoyable chilled wild camp. I'm not 100% happy with the review and felt I missed some information out, but will hopefully get better at it as I produce more review content. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Great honest review, seems trekking pole tents have become very popular however in the uk using trekking poles isn't as common as the usa and mainland Europe, have a set purchased years ago but never seem to take them out. I think however the use of dyneama will filter down and become more widely used,. Is it noticeably lighter than the xmid? Many thank for sharing your finding, honest reviews are difficult to find, think people get invested in the product so never share the negative issues.
Yeah, I think trekking pole tents are becoming increasingly more popular these days. It will be interesting to see if DCF does start to take off. It's so expensive and IMHO is a bit overkill for most use cases. For me they really come into their own when doing long distance trails because of the weight savings. The Duplex weighs 581g and the Durston X-Mid 2 weighs 1035g (those weights are just for the tents, not stakes, etc). So there is quite a weight saving there. Whilst I do like the Duplex, I would consider selling it and getting the Durston X-Mid 2 Pro. Thanks again for watching and commenting mate.
Yeah, I sold it earlier in the year. I did like it, but found the head space whilst sleeping not great, plus I wanted something with a changeable inner. The Duos will be much better because it has more head and length room, plus you get the zipper door and more guy out points. Will be interesting to see how you get on with it mate.
Love the zpacks, I have the duplex and it's a great tent. Always performed really well in the UK, Had mine up in 40 mph+ winds with no problems, this tent can with stand alot as long as you pitch it the right way to the wind but that goes for all tents must be pitched right way to the wind., Not really a 4 season tent, as no snow skirt,. Great vid. Nice to see the zpacks featured in the UK
Hey Stephen, thanks so much for watching and commenting. Great to hear you've had it out in such high winds and it dealt with them without issues. That gives me confidence to give it a run out on a windy camp. I do really like the Duplex, however I'm a bit jealous of the zipper version. I'm not a fan of those toggles. I've subscribed to your channel mate.
Nice work mate, yeah. I know it's a very successful and popular tent but I really don't like the look of those door clips, but I know they've brought out the zip version now to address that as you mentioned. Wish they would do something about the inner door though - having it fall to the floor when opened just doesn't seem like a good idea to me!
Thanks mate...errrr yeah. 😂 I agree with the door clips and the rainbow door. I'm a bit annoyed at myself that I didn't talk about them more, but it's difficult when you're trying to do the review on a camp...especially after a few beers. You know what it likes. I must script it slightly better for the next one. Anyway, yeah the zipper version would be so much better I think. It's a real faff having to mess about with those toggles. Especially at night. I don't know why they haven't addressed that door though. It's not a massive issue, but surely they can come up with a better solution. Overall I do like it, but I think the X-mid Pro probably outdoes it now. One of things I do love about it, is how easy it is to pitch. It really is the easiest tent have to pitch, even more so than the X-mid in my opinion. Maybe on our next camp we can do a X-mid Pro VS Duplex. 🤷
Hey there Brian. No, you have to order from the States, so this can really up the cost. Have a look at www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/ to work out what the cost of this tent will be in GBP once imported. Depending on what you're looking for, you might want to check out trekkertent.com. They are a small cottage manufacturer in Scotland. I will be doing a review of their Stealth 1.5 in the coming weeks. Hope that somewhat helps mate.
@@trickofthetrail Hi I'd be interested in knowing more. I was just on the point of writing to my son is the US and asking him to get one for me, but this might be a useful alternative.
Just picked one of these up. This video was really useful and informative.......thanks mate 😊
Ah awesome. Glad you found it useful mate. Enjoy your new tent! It's a great purchase.

Hi, is there a UK supplier for these, or do you have to order from the states? I’m just getting started and can’t find a source. Thanks.

Actually Brian, I'm probably going to sell mine because I'm getting a new tent. Drop me a message if you are interested and we can discuss.
