1. Allies receive 'Consequential Damage' when thwarting or attacking - one point of damage for each symbol underneath the relevant ability on their card.

Small correction: The mulligan is "discard whichever cards you don't like, then draw back up to hand size". You don't have to mulligan your whole hand.
Presumably this means discard pile centric decks don’t and will never exist, otherwise it actually kinda breaks mulligans
@@jacobbrown9894 While I wouldn't say there are decks entirely built around the discard pile, there are some strong cards that use it and a few heroes that will pitch a good card to the discard pile with a mulligan on purpose. For instance, captain america can get his shield for free at the beginning of the game. If you draw it in your opening hand, you want to muligan that card at least since you will get it back for free. There is also Lockjaw who is an ally that can be played from the discard pile. You can only mulligan 1 time, so there's only so much value you can really ever get from pitching your whole starting hand.

Just played my first game of MC tonight, this video was a great confirmation that I'd gotten it all right or less or more.
I was having a difficult time tracking with the video so I played it at 0.75 speed. Much better. Lol... It actually sounded totally normal after a couple seconds. Highly recommend.

Great summary of the rules. The only rule I saw omitted was ally consequential dmg when they attack or thwart.

@@RollforCrit Black Cat doesn't have consequential damage for attack, just thwarting. That can be quite useful against Ultron.
i think one major rule you missed is the star icon on allies, means they receive damage equal to the stars marked below the basic attack\ thwart :) other than that, great work! :D
I just learned of this game and came here to learn more. I was looking for something considerably simpler to play with my daughter.
Champions definitely has a high investment considering all the expansions and deck building before gameplay. If you're looking some something in Marvel that's simpler, for competitive I suggest Marvel Villainous, but for cooperative Thanos Rising is a good pick.
Depending on how old your daughter is, there are some simpler options for Marvel card games. Uno Ultimate is fun (still Uno, but... More Ultimate-y). Marvel United is a fun co-op game. Marvel Legendary is less complicated than Champions, but a step up in complexity from the others I mentioned.

5 Minute Marvel is chaotic and fun coop game. More party game than serious deck builder, but simple, quick to play, and FUN!

Agreed...I was curious about the game and now my interest has been replaced by a headache....
So the gameplay is kinda like the Lord of the Rings LCG, only in the Marvel theme.

Marvel Champions is an new iteration on the system used in Arkham Horror LCG, which was a new iteration of the system used in LotR LCG, so yeah. They all differ a bit, but share a common base.

Incorrect info at 0:45 - I just read the rules the other day, and they say VERY clearly that when you mulligan, you may discard ANY number of cards. After which, you draw the same number of cards. It doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" mulligan. In your video, you didn't *necessarily* state that it was an "all or nothing" mulligan, but your lack of clarity on the issue, (and choice of wording), kind of indirectly implies it. Anyways, just adding clarity. Thanks for the video. :)

I'm a huge fan of this game and I would really like to see an official online game release. Im gonna spend so much money on it
no coverage of the rule about asking for another player for help, which is the most convoluted rule in the game
I'd argue that what counts as 'defending' gets way more confusing, but that's once you dig a little deeper in the game. If you still need a ruling about asking other players for help, you can ask something to do anything that has the word "action" printed on it, whether that be playing a card, or using a card already in play.
Wow pretty good video on how to play the quickly version, sure you need to get deeper into the rules. Last night I started to play kind of freestyle to get the feeling of the game and my brain was burning!! Too much going on at once but this video it’s great to kind of put things in the back of your mind 👍🏽. It’s funny how I bought the base game, then I was gonna return the game base on comments on Amazon that the game was complicated, then i bought the expansion rise of red skull, then hero’s expansion; Captain American, hulk, wolverine, gambit, Thor , venom and all that without even taking the plastic off the core game… I went bananas buying extra stuff not mowing if I was gonna like the game just cos I like the art on the cards! lol well I’m gonna have to master the game now 😆🤯.. thanks for the great video 🫡

if you exhaust your hero in enemy attach phase to defend, did you start your turn in exhaust position so you cant attack?
That's correct. Your hero won't unexhaust until the end of your turn (unless you have a card or ability that allows you to do so).
I just bought this game. It looks... really complicated. I might just stick with Sentinels of the Multiverse.
It takes a bit to get the hang of it given that there are lots of keywords, but at its heart it's mostly just play cards, attack/thwart, try not to get killed by whatever the villain does. I haven't played Sentinels of the Multiverse though and come from a background of playing much more complex games like Netrunner, so my thoughts on 'complicated' might be skewed.
I just want a Marvel card game more like MTG.

How does this compare with Sentinels of the Multiverse?
They have very similar vibes, but Marvel feels pretty different with its card play and focus on attack/thwart strategies. And of course, you can't build decks in Sentinels. We like both games a lot!
During the player’s turn, if you use up all your cards on your hands and performed all the other actions, you will have to end your turn to draw a new set of cards, right?
Correct. After all players complete their turns you then draw up to your hand size (and you have the option to get rid of cards you don't want to keep as well).

I dont fully understand the side scheme system, does it have a limit of threat until for example the bomb explodes? Or you can leave it there for as long as you like?

You forgot tom include taking damage from your ally for taking an attack or thwart action. But mostly covered everything in a short amount of time.
I came away from this video knowing this game was called marvel champions.

When do I un-exhaust?
All your cards get readied again at the end of the player phase - after all players have taken their turns, and before the villain activates. Same time that you re-draw your hand.

Serious Sentinels of the Multiverse vibes from this..especially with the new streamlined and new art Definitive Edition coming out later this year that actually has the health wheel. I'm pretty sure me and my friends could figure this out pretty quick if I pick up a copy just due to how often we played Sentinels of the Multiverse.
Seems cool. But I prefer Sentinels of the Multiverse better. Seems simpler and more fun for me.
what happens if you run out of cards from your hero deck
You reshuffle your deck and draw an encounter card. It says so at 6:57

I think the Star icon is only a reminder to read the card text; it doesn't specifically trigger during the card boost villain phase.
So it's a little awkward but both of you are right. There are cards that have stars on them that aren't in the corner and those act like you are talking about. However, if there is a star in the lower right corner where the boost icons go, that is a boost effect and he is right that it is supposed to happen whenever that card is drawn as a boost card.
I thought if one player loses all health, you all lose?

Nope, 180 would turn the card all the way upside down. 90 degrees is sideways like in the video.
The disclaimer at the beginning says that it may contain info "that is blatantly false." Why would I watch this video? I can understand not having the complete rules, but false info is not helpful as a teaching tool.
