It can also be the album that Starlight gave Twilight in “The Last Problem” or it can also be the book that opened in The First Episode of Season 1 and closed at The Last Episode of Season 9. Some pages might be missing some words might be smudged because it does look like a pretty old book
One note is there there are cut out fragments in the book she is looking at, which makes sense if this was the journel. Its possible no one believes the journel is real and she is on a quest to proof ponies can live together, I wonder if as well she is looking for some proof the events of a long ago happened. Didn't the album Twilight gave Starlight have some sort of magic to allow the photos/ memories to actually play as if you were really there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but that would actually be cool, unless without magic that's not possible anymore or maybe that's the one thing that still has some magic proving it exist?
I don't think so. The book Sunny is reading has a binder strap on it. Unless she modified it after she found it, it can't be the original journal. I could be wrong however.

I agree Doc, that's exactly what i thought at first too when i first saw the second G5 promo image, and seeing Sunny with it makes me think she's gonna read it a lot during the G5 movie and series and or use the lessons in it to complete her mission in making Equestria a better place!
I think it would be more meaningful storytelling if the journal is one she made herself based on the history and stories of the mane six she has immersed herself in for years, encapsulating all her own flaws and idealistic imaginings. As she learns the truths of the world in her travels, her journal becomes more and more outdated. It would still make for a powerful emotional moment when, like Twilight’s treehouse, after being such a prominent part of the show, it gets destroyed. THEN the group finds Twilight’s original journal, which she is now emotionally ready to fully understand. If she had it from the beginning, the story of how she got such a treasure could only be told weakly in flashbacks and exposition-save it for the show. :)
I have not even watched the vid yet but the thumbnail made me think what if sunny is twilight and flashes daughter or maybe granddaughter or great granddaughter in the future bc she kinda looks like both of them plus in one of the pics her and her friends look like they are with some royal guards Do u like my theory?

If this whole "friendship journal" theory is indeed canon, then your theory would explain why Sunny was able to get her hooves on the original journal written by royalty! I doubt that just any pony could get their hooves on an artifact like that without having authority. Due to the paper slips hanging from Sunny's book, it gives proof towards it being the original journal; because, the printed/public copies were neater than that; only the original was ever depicted with a bunch of paper and slips hanging out the pages. Now, the only thing that'd confuse me is the fact that Princess Pipp exists and currently rules. Though, if the synopsis is correct, there would be 3 separate kingdoms. Due to this, Sunny would be princess or heir of the earth ponies, and Pipp would be princess of the unicorn nation. If the writers are staying a bit loyal to G4, then the earth pony civilization would be where Ponyville used to be. That would explain why Sunny could be royalty of the earth ponies and also be related to Twilight. Keep on theorizing, my friend!😁👍
It is likely NOT the "original" hoof/horn/mouth written "Journal of the Seven Friends"; but rather one of the many "better than perfect" copies Starlight Glimmer mass produced. Probably the one that was NEVER OPENED (instead kept in a plastic bag as a collection item). Otherwise it would be unlikely it could both survive for centuries/millenia & be transportable.
I like this idea, it would provide credit for everything the Mane 6 did since it's been in the journal that Twilight wrote throughout all those years. It would give reason to why Sunny believes friendship Is Possible between all the ponies even though others would think it was just myth. And I can only imagine how she would handle it and try to make sure the pages stay intact, got to handle that book with care.
She can at least have one of many copies cuz as we know book was multiplied and given away to ponies so it is possible that some could survive or be copied further in the far future :) Edit: I should stop commenting before watching xD
Well, it does makes sense. And is it possible that MLP-FiM G4 had existed and have become a legendary era. And that the ponies of G5 were looking at a MLP TV show in their timeframe describing the time of G4 as a sort of Golden Age?
I think Sunny might be a descendant of Luster Dawn. I drew this conclusion by thinking of what ponies Sunny could be related to and thinking of what young ponies had close ties with Twilight. But then again perhaps this could be a descendant of Scootaloo or one of the other cutie mark crusaders. Or perhaps it could be a family member of one of the ponies who attended Twilight's school. So many possibilities.
I was thinking something pretty similar to this. It could be a friendship journal, or maybe, it could be the book that opened when the show started, and closed when it ended. We will see about this.
I certaintly hope that's the case that this is still within the universe we had in G4 only it's many years later and Sunny comes across either the original book or the copy. Either way I'm happy with that outcome rather then G4 was just a story or a tv show for the new characters as that feels a bit...downgrading to Gen 4. But that's just my opinion.

That would be an interesting connection. Ohh, what if, Sunny is actually a descendent from one of the Mane 6? Maybe that journal she has is the ACTUAL one, the one Twilight and her Friends actually wrote in? Now that would make Sunny's desire to bring friendship and harmony back to Equestria even more meaningful.
That's basically my theory, potentially the reason they're surrounded by guards is they had to break into some sort of Pegasi archive to steal the friendship journal
You can see the tabs for each of the mane 6's sections in the blown up picture of it, it *is* in fact, the original friendship Journal, it has to be. or it is a massive red herring.
That's certainly a good idea... though it could also be just a replica of the book distributed by the people behind the show in universe. After all, Daring Do and the Sapphire Stone was published as a real book After the episode aired, so it's possible something similar could have happened in a G5 universe where G4 is a TV show. The journal could literally just be more merchandise from the show Sunny owns.
This theory's been floating around since the first reveal. I think it was done on purpose and that, yeah-she's got the original friendship journal. I don't doubt they'll do a good job tying the two together given how many fans they ended up having work on the show (one of which-Imalou-is the character designer).
That's a good theory. What I'm curious about now for the next generation. After the movie it makes me wonder if the show will run in the same time lot being a thirty minute episode. Because a lot of cartoons these days just run fifteen minute episodes on the schedule. I mean Look at Pony Life, episodes are only fifteen minutes, and they keep a bunch back to back on the schedule to make it look like half an hour or even an hour. They even make two parters out of episodes that don't need to be two parters.

Something occurred to me what if she is an orphan and what if her friends became more than just her friends but her family friendship is magic focused on friends maybe this one is about never being alone family and being there for you it would really be a heart felt series if that is the case.
I think, given the possibility of this society being a dystopia, such a tome would be considered obsolete and therefore forbidden. I mean, given the recent news of Dr Seuss' books "And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street" and "The Sneeches" being banned from school libraries, I can see both us and Equestria approaching the future society depicted in Rod Serling's "The Obsolete Man".
I hope the original friendship journal of Twilight Sparkle is found inside a barrel full of mystery content that Sunny Starscout's father has bought from the antique store when she was little.
That could be the Friendship Journal. Why not? It makes sense: It would give her something that connects her with the mane 6 and it looks like an old Friendship Journal. I'm also convinced that the animatic opening is the real one. If you look closer at the filly, she looks like Sunny with her mane. Sunnys dad would have to have a connection to the mane 6. Because of Sunnys coat and mane colour, I think she might be an descendant of Scootallo or even Apple Bloom and Tender Taps. Either way, they could be their grand-grandschildren. Hitch looks like a descendant from Starlight and Sunburst. They have similiar colour schemes. I don't see a descendant in every new main character of G5, but I'm reminded of some of the Mane 6's friends and family when I see those two. I'm also curious when Twilight shows up in the show. She was the last ruler of Equestria and she is an alicorn. I don't think that she's gone and maybe she will make a comeback. More like an adviser for who ever seeks her wisdom. And what's about the day and night? Ponies used to control these celestial bodies for like forever now. First unicorns, then the two sisters and then Twilight. If Equestria lost it's magic, how do the celestial bodies move?Are the days or the nights shorter? I don't think it's the same as it was before Equestria lost it's magic. Is there also extreme weather? More storms, longer winters? I can't wait to see how Equestria looks and works with the lack of magic.

I've thought about her notebook as well. I'm keeping an open mind as to what we'll see. I'm definitely interested to see what we learn in the upcoming movie and the episodes to follow. It'll be interesting to see how it all ties in to what is now the "Mane 6 from Ancient Equestria".
This book has a snap/button and strap, best seen at the 0:30 zoom-in. I think it's more likely to be the book shown at the end of the series telling the full tale of Twilight and Friends rather than Just the Friendship Journal.
Hey Doc, did you see a recent tweet from of the Equestria Girls writers? Apparently, there was going to be an hour long finale for Season 2 and it was going to reveal what happened to the Human Sunset Shimmer!
What if the book had some sort of message in it for the future and Sunny thinks it’s now up to her to restore the magic of friendship to the land. And to do it she will need to learn where the remaining main 5 are living. But that’s just my theory

So, here's a simple question: Do you all think the whole "Equestria has lost its magic/friendship" thing will be fully resolved within the movie itself, or will that just be step one (e.g. breaking down the barriers) with the series following working and adapting towards the end goal bit by bit? I want the second, but I'm preparing for getting the first instead.
That's a very interesting/compelling idea that she has Twilight's original Friendship journal, or perhaps one of the 'last remaining copies' as a personal heirloom passed down to her and she wants to follow in ways of the Mane 6 to help her world. But I had a slightly different slant on what it was on the floor she was reading. Perhaps, just perhaps, it isn't Twilight's journal, but a book of accumulated bits of 'evidence' of the legendary 'friendship journal' from ancient Equestria's time that is rumored to exist somewhere. This collection is passed down from her dad; her heirloom of his hard work, urging her to seek it out. The adventure of Sunny, Hutch and Izzy is to find the journal and bring it back. But, the whole adventure IS the friendship journal lived out; Twilight's friendship journal DOESN'T EXSIST. The journal is a MacGuffin; By having them experience moments of honesty, loyalty , kindness, generosity and happiness does the friendship journal 'return'. But then again, I'm just guessing...
I belived that why she has the book is conected to why izzy has that tenis ball on her horn. I belived they was traying to Steel it, (maby it was in a museum or somthing) got chased by gards and izzy crash in to a stall and they just cut to the scenen with the ball on her horn. I am shore on everything exept the theft. I dont know why the gards chase them down but I am 99% shore thet is why ize has a tenis ball on her horn.
My idea is almost the same, but instead of the Friendship Journal, Sunny has the complete mane 6 story, the one opened back in the first episode and closed on the last episode, so Sunny knows about the magic artifacts that Cozy Glow used might be the ones that have taken all of the magic away, and the movie happens
now that you mention it, in the same episode there was a problem that the book was so successful that fans treat 6 mane has fictional characters. I mean, they know that the characters are real, but they don't believe that everything in the book it's real. So, yes it's plausible that many thing where lost during the time, or become "fictional" exspecially if G5 set place some hundred years after G4.
...you just made me realize that the Mane 6 had pretty much the opposite problem of Dr Brennan when it comes to their books xD The Mane 6 were very real, everything in the book HAPPENED, but ponies didn't think of it as real. Dr Brennan's books are fictional, but draw inspiration from real life, but everyone acts as if the books ARE real life. This causes friction with the authors of each book.
My question is what happened to discord for a being that is immortal and if the main six are i guess gone how did discord take that with fluttershy did it make him forget about friendship did it make him go back to his chaotic old ways ?

I have a theory. What if the unicorns were trying to get some magical jewel back when harmony was present and the earth ponies and unicorns argued,the windigos came along and the Pegasi were blamed for the weather. They each chose their leaders , somehow defeated the windings and magic disappeared because of the magic jewel. It may be overstretched but it may still be, and I think I know who the leaders are, Pipp’s father then she took over for the Pegasi, Starlight or Rarity for the unicorns and Anypony with experience for the earth’s . Maybe Mayor Mare or Bon Bon, Diamond Tiara or Even Sombra for the unicorns if the mane 6 had reformed him before.
The likelihood is extremely high, and the journal would be able to supply Sunny with some helpful tips and tricks on how to "restore friendship" to G5 Equestria. However, if Sunny were to apply some of the "friendship lessons" from the journal WITHOUT the proper context, it's possible that she may end up doing more harm than good without ever realizing it!
Sunny writes in her journal, "Dear Twilight Sparkle and your friends..." Then realizes it was her Death Note journal. Hence, no ponies from the previous generation.
I like that line of thinking. I missed that potential detail entirely but now that you point it out, I'm on board. The linking of this fact with the animatic seems logical too. It would be really good to have a strong father figure present in G5 to lend support to the show's main star.

Like I said it in an Discussion, I think it is an different Book,because if you look close, on the left side is a Flap, Belt like Thing, maybe to close the Book. The Mane 6 Journal has no Flap to holt the Book closed. Usual such Flaps are on personal Journals where you sometimes place loose or glued in Stuff. Theres a possible chanche the G5 World is not the world of Equestria or an alternate version of it, where G4 is a TV Series, what mean the Mane 8 (Mane 6 + Starlight + Sunset) don't exist in this World. They exist as Show (maybe the Creators place the original FiM Show on a 3D rendered TV) and Merchendise. G5 is still a World like Equestria, with Ponys as main Race (we don't know if the World isn't more like the world of Zootopia), but it is a modern World, like in EQG. The World is like ours, with the Problems between Countrys and Races and theres no Magic (most Unicorns and winged Unicorns in other Storys have no Magic too). The World is our real World, just with Ponys and Sunny is a MLP: FiM Fan, aka a Broni/Pegasister,who try to change the World with the Ideals of the Show. Maybe the Writers had Greta Thunberg in mind as they have design Sunny (they even have a similar Hairstyle). Her Name will maybe give some Problems under the Fans, because Sunny is the Nickname of Sunset Shimmer too.^^ The animatic was new for me. It is clearly a Music Sequence, as you see on their Movements. The Animation (I found it at th-cam.com/video/PS1nxRX8tL8/w-d-xo.html) show the Mane 6 with Sunny and this other Pony. We don't know if it is her Dad or someone else. First a Picnic with Cake, then some Fun on the Swings (FS, AJ, TS, PP), then Fun in the Snow (Mane 6 only), then a Travel on a Rainbow (R, TS, Sunny, other Pony), over it (FS, RD, Sunny, other Pony), down the Rainbow (PP, AJ, Sunny, other Pony) and the Finale with a Slide over all Ponys. This not mean they realy meet the Mane 6. It could be they are just in it for the Scene, like a Dream or better, like the Scene in the last Eppisode of the Show, where all Ponys are shown in that last Song. The first and last Picture of the Animatic show The Mane 6 not as a Part of a Group with Sunny and the other Pony, it is more like they are Standing before a Painting or a Stained Glas Window. Maybe it is a Daydream Scene of Sunny, where she remember how her Dad teach her Friendship and later she use this as her peronal Idea, how a perfect World could be. Could be the Song is at a MLP Convention and the Dad is a Fan too, but only Sunny think about a Way to transfer the Message of MLP in her normal World. A bit like in Equestria Girls, where the World is a simple boring "Slice of Life" World, who change after Sunset bring Equestrian Magic in the World, or maybe trigger the existing Magic in that World. Maybe the Mane 6 will be a Part of the Movie, like the Idea of me Sunny could travel in the World of FiM somewhere in the Time of Season 4. Or the Mane 6 will just be there as Role Models, as Example for working Friendship, but will not apear as actual Characters in the Movie. I hope it will not be like this. I would like to see not just the Mane 6 as BG Characters like Bonbon & Lyra. If the Movie would be like the Rulership Transfer between Celestia and Twilight or the Transfer between FiM-Twilight and EQG-Sunset (in EQG Twilight is not longer the Groupleader), then the Movie could be a good Test for Hasbro, if the new G5 Ponys have a Chance against the still very popular G4 Ponys. The Transfer between G3.5 and G4 was much more easy, because G3.5 had no Content like G4 had it. G4 is made like an Anime, you can see similar Things in both, like the big Eyes and the shrinking Pupils if a Pony is shocked or in Fear. The Storys are made more for the Teens, while G1-3.5 was more for Preteens. Pony Life I'm actual ignoring. If the Style hasn't changed, I still can call it "FiM on Crack". It's not FiM if every Pony act like Pinkie Pie. If G5 will not bring the Success like G4, then maybe they will add the EQG Option, where Sunset always has the Chance to visit Equestria over the Portal. I still hope they would go the Boruto Way, where the World is the Same, just maybe 15-20 Years in the Future, where the Children of the past Main Ponys will be the new Mains. The old Mains will still be in the Show, but they are Side Char like the Parents of the Mane 6 in G4. They would be support Char for the new Main, but Twilight as Example would appear more like it was with Celestia. There was one Eppisode like that, where the Side Chars was in Focus and the Mane 6 just BG, in the Wedding of Cranky and Matilda (Slice of Life, S5E9)
I love the idea of Sunny having some version of the friendship journal. Perhaps Sunny thinks MLP G4 is a TV series until the finds the journal and realizes it's all real and then Sunny will start a journal of her own. That would be fantastic as a plot.
I like that out look. It would be the best way to keep everything connected. Besides if there keeping the world the same. Why not bring the Friendship Journal into it. I could see some of the copies being well preserved from the elements. I hope your prediction is right.
I knew it, I knew that Twilight Sparkle's book was going to be part of G5. I'm still hoping that G5 won't feature G4 as a TV show, because that idea wouldn't be right. Because it's better to have the six ponies that we grew up with from G4, to be interviewed on TV. And even spreading their message that the magic and the power of friendship needs to come back to Equestria, if any young Pony can listen to their message I do it for them and for Equestria
It could be a copy of Twilight's journal that was sold all across Equestria. After she became supreme monarch, more editions could have been printed as they would have become much more desirable and Sunny owns a copy of one of the editions.
Can't wait till sunny opens the journal and scootaloo's 1000 year old sandwich falls out.

It is likely NOT the "original" hoof/horn/mouth written "Journal of the Seven Friends"; but rather one of the many "better than perfect" copies Starlight Glimmer mass produced.
Probably the one that was NEVER OPENED (instead kept in a plastic bag as a collection item).
Otherwise it would be unlikely it could both survive for centuries/millenia & be transportable.
I like this idea, it would provide credit for everything the Mane 6 did since it's been in the journal that Twilight wrote throughout all those years. It would give reason to why Sunny believes friendship Is Possible between all the ponies even though others would think it was just myth. And I can only imagine how she would handle it and try to make sure the pages stay intact, got to handle that book with care.
She can at least have one of many copies cuz as we know book was multiplied and given away to ponies so it is possible that some could survive or be copied further in the far future :)

Well, it does makes sense. And is it possible that MLP-FiM G4 had existed and have become a legendary era. And that the ponies of G5 were looking at a MLP TV show in their timeframe describing the time of G4 as a sort of Golden Age?

I've had the exact same thought about Sunny's book. It might well be Twilight's journal or a copy of same.
I think Sunny might be a descendant of Luster Dawn. I drew this conclusion by thinking of what ponies Sunny could be related to and thinking of what young ponies had close ties with Twilight. But then again perhaps this could be a descendant of Scootaloo or one of the other cutie mark crusaders. Or perhaps it could be a family member of one of the ponies who attended Twilight's school. So many possibilities.
I was thinking something pretty similar to this. It could be a friendship journal, or maybe, it could be the book that opened when the show started, and closed when it ended. We will see about this.

I agree with what you pointred out. To tell you the truth, I'm getting excited to see what the movie is going to bring.
I certaintly hope that's the case that this is still within the universe we had in G4 only it's many years later and Sunny comes across either the original book or the copy. Either way I'm happy with that outcome rather then G4 was just a story or a tv show for the new characters as that feels a bit...downgrading to Gen 4. But that's just my opinion.

It is possible that the earth pony village was once ponyville, so that's why the journal was found by sunny
...what if the museum idea is true, and during the mentioned jewel heist, they wind up with the book, as well? We don't know what part of the film the image is from, or when the jewel heist happens ;)
That would be an interesting connection. Ohh, what if, Sunny is actually a descendent from one of the Mane 6? Maybe that journal she has is the ACTUAL one, the one Twilight and her Friends actually wrote in? Now that would make Sunny's desire to bring friendship and harmony back to Equestria even more meaningful.

You can see the tabs for each of the mane 6's sections in the blown up picture of it, it *is* in fact, the original friendship Journal, it has to be. or it is a massive red herring.
That's certainly a good idea... though it could also be just a replica of the book distributed by the people behind the show in universe.
After all, Daring Do and the Sapphire Stone was published as a real book After the episode aired, so it's possible something similar could have happened in a G5 universe where G4 is a TV show.
The journal could literally just be more merchandise from the show Sunny owns.
This theory's been floating around since the first reveal. I think it was done on purpose and that, yeah-she's got the original friendship journal. I don't doubt they'll do a good job tying the two together given how many fans they ended up having work on the show (one of which-Imalou-is the character designer).
That's a good theory. What I'm curious about now for the next generation. After the movie it makes me wonder if the show will run in the same time lot being a thirty minute episode. Because a lot of cartoons these days just run fifteen minute episodes on the schedule. I mean Look at Pony Life, episodes are only fifteen minutes, and they keep a bunch back to back on the schedule to make it look like half an hour or even an hour. They even make two parters out of episodes that don't need to be two parters.

This was litteraly my first thought when I saw the book that Sunny was looking at!
Something occurred to me what if she is an orphan and what if her friends became more than just her friends but her family friendship is magic focused on friends maybe this one is about never being alone family and being there for you it would really be a heart felt series if that is the case.

I think, given the possibility of this society being a dystopia, such a tome would be considered obsolete and therefore forbidden. I mean, given the recent news of Dr Seuss' books "And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street" and "The Sneeches" being banned from school libraries, I can see both us and Equestria approaching the future society depicted in Rod Serling's "The Obsolete Man".

That could be the Friendship Journal. Why not? It makes sense: It would give her something that connects her with the mane 6 and it looks like an old Friendship Journal. I'm also convinced that the animatic opening is the real one. If you look closer at the filly, she looks like Sunny with her mane. Sunnys dad would have to have a connection to the mane 6. Because of Sunnys coat and mane colour, I think she might be an descendant of Scootallo or even Apple Bloom and Tender Taps. Either way, they could be their grand-grandschildren. Hitch looks like a descendant from Starlight and Sunburst. They have similiar colour schemes. I don't see a descendant in every new main character of G5, but I'm reminded of some of the Mane 6's friends and family when I see those two. I'm also curious when Twilight shows up in the show. She was the last ruler of Equestria and she is an alicorn. I don't think that she's gone and maybe she will make a comeback. More like an adviser for who ever seeks her wisdom. And what's about the day and night? Ponies used to control these celestial bodies for like forever now. First unicorns, then the two sisters and then Twilight. If Equestria lost it's magic, how do the celestial bodies move?Are the days or the nights shorter? I don't think it's the same as it was before Equestria lost it's magic. Is there also extreme weather? More storms, longer winters? I can't wait to see how Equestria looks and works with the lack of magic.

I've thought about her notebook as well. I'm keeping an open mind as to what we'll see. I'm definitely interested to see what we learn in the upcoming movie and the episodes to follow. It'll be interesting to see how it all ties in to what is now the "Mane 6 from Ancient Equestria".
This book has a snap/button and strap, best seen at the 0:30 zoom-in. I think it's more likely to be the book shown at the end of the series telling the full tale of Twilight and Friends rather than Just the Friendship Journal.

Hey Doc, did you see a recent tweet from of the Equestria Girls writers? Apparently, there was going to be an hour long finale for Season 2 and it was going to reveal what happened to the Human Sunset Shimmer!
What if the book had some sort of message in it for the future and Sunny thinks it’s now up to her to restore the magic of friendship to the land.
And to do it she will need to learn where the remaining main 5 are living.
But that’s just my theory

So, here's a simple question: Do you all think the whole "Equestria has lost its magic/friendship" thing will be fully resolved within the movie itself, or will that just be step one (e.g. breaking down the barriers) with the series following working and adapting towards the end goal bit by bit? I want the second, but I'm preparing for getting the first instead.
That's a very interesting/compelling idea that she has Twilight's original Friendship journal, or perhaps one of the 'last remaining copies' as a personal heirloom passed down to her and she wants to follow in ways of the Mane 6 to help her world. But I had a slightly different slant on what it was on the floor she was reading. Perhaps, just perhaps, it isn't Twilight's journal, but a book of accumulated bits of 'evidence' of the legendary 'friendship journal' from ancient Equestria's time that is rumored to exist somewhere. This collection is passed down from her dad; her heirloom of his hard work, urging her to seek it out. The adventure of Sunny, Hutch and Izzy is to find the journal and bring it back. But, the whole adventure IS the friendship journal lived out; Twilight's friendship journal DOESN'T EXSIST. The journal is a MacGuffin; By having them experience moments of honesty, loyalty , kindness, generosity and happiness does the friendship journal 'return'. But then again, I'm just guessing...
This concept does make a lot of sense, if you ask me.
I belived that why she has the book is conected to why izzy has that tenis ball on her horn. I belived they was traying to Steel it, (maby it was in a museum or somthing) got chased by gards and izzy crash in to a stall and they just cut to the scenen with the ball on her horn.
I am shore on everything exept the theft. I dont know why the gards chase them down but I am 99% shore thet is why ize has a tenis ball on her horn.
My idea is almost the same, but instead of the Friendship Journal, Sunny has the complete mane 6 story, the one opened back in the first episode and closed on the last episode, so Sunny knows about the magic artifacts that Cozy Glow used might be the ones that have taken all of the magic away, and the movie happens

now that you mention it, in the same episode there was a problem that the book was so successful that fans treat 6 mane has fictional characters. I mean, they know that the characters are real, but they don't believe that everything in the book it's real. So, yes it's plausible that many thing where lost during the time, or become "fictional" exspecially if G5 set place some hundred years after G4.
...you just made me realize that the Mane 6 had pretty much the opposite problem of Dr Brennan when it comes to their books xD The Mane 6 were very real, everything in the book HAPPENED, but ponies didn't think of it as real. Dr Brennan's books are fictional, but draw inspiration from real life, but everyone acts as if the books ARE real life. This causes friction with the authors of each book.
My question is what happened to discord for a being that is immortal and if the main six are i guess gone how did discord take that with fluttershy did it make him forget about friendship did it make him go back to his chaotic old ways ?
That's a possibility, we may never know. In "Viva Los Pegasus", Flam and Flim said that they were only going to help Applejack once and empathize one of once, and yet at the end of "The Ending of the End part 2", they're helping her defeating the Legend of Doom
Maybe MLP G5 takes place like a century after Friendship is Magic.
I have a theory. What if the unicorns were trying to get some magical jewel back when harmony was present and the earth ponies and unicorns argued,the windigos came along and the Pegasi were blamed for the weather. They each chose their leaders , somehow defeated the windings and magic disappeared because of the magic jewel. It may be overstretched but it may still be, and I think I know who the leaders are, Pipp’s father then she took over for the Pegasi, Starlight or Rarity for the unicorns and Anypony with experience for the earth’s . Maybe Mayor Mare or Bon Bon, Diamond Tiara or Even Sombra for the unicorns if the mane 6 had reformed him before.

The likelihood is extremely high, and the journal would be able to supply Sunny with some helpful tips and tricks on how to "restore friendship" to G5 Equestria. However, if Sunny were to apply some of the "friendship lessons" from the journal WITHOUT the proper context, it's possible that she may end up doing more harm than good without ever realizing it!

I like that line of thinking. I missed that potential detail entirely but now that you point it out, I'm on board. The linking of this fact with the animatic seems logical too. It would be really good to have a strong father figure present in G5 to lend support to the show's main star.

The Mane 6 Journal has no Flap to holt the Book closed.
Usual such Flaps are on personal Journals where you sometimes place loose or glued in Stuff.
Theres a possible chanche the G5 World is not the world of Equestria or an alternate version of it, where G4 is a TV Series, what mean the Mane 8 (Mane 6 + Starlight + Sunset) don't exist in this World.
They exist as Show (maybe the Creators place the original FiM Show on a 3D rendered TV) and Merchendise.
G5 is still a World like Equestria, with Ponys as main Race (we don't know if the World isn't more like the world of Zootopia), but it is a modern World, like in EQG.
The World is like ours, with the Problems between Countrys and Races and theres no Magic (most Unicorns and winged Unicorns in other Storys have no Magic too).
The World is our real World, just with Ponys and Sunny is a MLP: FiM Fan, aka a Broni/Pegasister,who try to change the World with the Ideals of the Show.
Maybe the Writers had Greta Thunberg in mind as they have design Sunny (they even have a similar Hairstyle).
Her Name will maybe give some Problems under the Fans, because Sunny is the Nickname of Sunset Shimmer too.^^

It is clearly a Music Sequence, as you see on their Movements.
The Animation (I found it at th-cam.com/video/PS1nxRX8tL8/w-d-xo.html) show the Mane 6 with Sunny and this other Pony.
We don't know if it is her Dad or someone else.
First a Picnic with Cake, then some Fun on the Swings (FS, AJ, TS, PP), then Fun in the Snow (Mane 6 only), then a Travel on a Rainbow (R, TS, Sunny, other Pony), over it (FS, RD, Sunny, other Pony), down the Rainbow (PP, AJ, Sunny, other Pony) and the Finale with a Slide over all Ponys.
This not mean they realy meet the Mane 6.
It could be they are just in it for the Scene, like a Dream or better, like the Scene in the last Eppisode of the Show, where all Ponys are shown in that last Song.
The first and last Picture of the Animatic show The Mane 6 not as a Part of a Group with Sunny and the other Pony, it is more like they are Standing before a Painting or a Stained Glas Window.
Maybe it is a Daydream Scene of Sunny, where she remember how her Dad teach her Friendship and later she use this as her peronal Idea, how a perfect World could be.
Could be the Song is at a MLP Convention and the Dad is a Fan too, but only Sunny think about a Way to transfer the Message of MLP in her normal World.
A bit like in Equestria Girls, where the World is a simple boring "Slice of Life" World, who change after Sunset bring Equestrian Magic in the World, or maybe trigger the existing Magic in that World.
Maybe the Mane 6 will be a Part of the Movie, like the Idea of me Sunny could travel in the World of FiM somewhere in the Time of Season 4.
Or the Mane 6 will just be there as Role Models, as Example for working Friendship, but will not apear as actual Characters in the Movie.
I hope it will not be like this.
I would like to see not just the Mane 6 as BG Characters like Bonbon & Lyra.
If the Movie would be like the Rulership Transfer between Celestia and Twilight or the Transfer between FiM-Twilight and EQG-Sunset (in EQG Twilight is not longer the Groupleader), then the Movie could be a good Test for Hasbro, if the new G5 Ponys have a Chance against the still very popular G4 Ponys.
The Transfer between G3.5 and G4 was much more easy, because G3.5 had no Content like G4 had it.
G4 is made like an Anime, you can see similar Things in both, like the big Eyes and the shrinking Pupils if a Pony is shocked or in Fear.
The Storys are made more for the Teens, while G1-3.5 was more for Preteens.
Pony Life I'm actual ignoring.
If the Style hasn't changed, I still can call it "FiM on Crack".
It's not FiM if every Pony act like Pinkie Pie.
If G5 will not bring the Success like G4, then maybe they will add the EQG Option, where Sunset always has the Chance to visit Equestria over the Portal.
I still hope they would go the Boruto Way, where the World is the Same, just maybe 15-20 Years in the Future, where the Children of the past Main Ponys will be the new Mains.
The old Mains will still be in the Show, but they are Side Char like the Parents of the Mane 6 in G4.
They would be support Char for the new Main, but Twilight as Example would appear more like it was with Celestia.
There was one Eppisode like that, where the Side Chars was in Focus and the Mane 6 just BG, in the Wedding of Cranky and Matilda (Slice of Life, S5E9)

I love the idea of Sunny having some version of the friendship journal. Perhaps Sunny thinks MLP G4 is a TV series until the finds the journal and realizes it's all real and then Sunny will start a journal of her own. That would be fantastic as a plot.

I'm still hoping that G5 won't feature G4 as a TV show, because that idea wouldn't be right.
Because it's better to have the six ponies that we grew up with from G4, to be interviewed on TV. And even spreading their message that the magic and the power of friendship needs to come back to Equestria, if any young Pony can listen to their message I do it for them and for Equestria

It could be a copy of Twilight's journal that was sold all across Equestria. After she became supreme monarch, more editions could have been printed as they would have become much more desirable and Sunny owns a copy of one of the editions.
