charlie literally couldnt stop laughing even when they started to answer serious questions LMAO, i bet hanging with trey and matt would be constant laughter
that's the key of southpark I think, the self awareness, how much they explore multiple sides of issues on usually mostly equal footing, certainly more than most political commentators and comedians on regular television
I think of all the morality police, and "protect our children" and "they're a corrupting influence" and "they'll degrade civilisation" people who have gone after Matt and Trey. But when you sit and listen to them for half an hour all you can think is, wow, I'd love to live in a world where everyone was like them. It would actually be a quite wholesome world in such a genuine human sense.
What a fantastic interview, I love Charlie and I love these guys I’d feel so worthy to even shake these men’s hands. Never will happen but wow the money I’d pay...
Watching their show from my childhood yo adulthood has been amazing. It’s truly a marvel to watch them start as a generally brushed off “dick and fart” joke show to the best satire ever played on television. I have a core memory of convincing my mom to take me to see the south park movie. “Mom, it’s a musical! How bad can it be?” Given a huge portion of the movie is devoted to free speech, censorship, and the overreactions of parents the drive home was just dead silent.
Facts i was born in 98 but i saw the movie in 2002 because my babysitter didnt care what i watched and my dad eventually just let me start watching south park and i have ever since
I will never forget the premier date of South Park. August 13, 1997, on a Friday. Was at a friend's house for his birthday and we all were gathered around the TV watching the premier.
i get the micheal moore thing now. i knew for years that trey and matt werent found of him for that segment in his "documentary" (i knew it wasnt their cartoon, seemed obvious to me even as a kid) but i remember seeing trey's 'history of america' ofc i see the resemblance of that and the cartoon in the movie. well, moore really is a piece of ham
For real I wished libertarian didn’t became this bastardize far right version of freedom. I just want gay people to get married, own guns, and do drugs legally.
@@yourfriendlycynic654 could you give me some examples I’d love to hear them. Doug Stanhope and Stone/Parker are comedians and yet the only people who speak on the freedoms of libertarianism that I desire. Please if you know let me know I’m always down to learn more.
@@yourfriendlycynic654 I remember Gary Johnson did a while ago and while he did carry the majority of libertarian votes during 2016 I implore you to watch his speech at the libertarian conference and how many “libertarian” dislike his more progressive policies to the point of accusing socialist. Alex Jones, Steven Crowder, and the new “don’t tread on me movement” have totally bastardized and sensationalized a great political philosophy for fascist nationalism. Penn Jillete, Kane (the wrestler) and Robert Nozick were all the foundational speakers on libertarianism when I was younger that inspired me to be libertarian. But now sheeeeesh either people who lean left think I’m a fascist and people on the right think I’m a commie because my reasons for gun rights, freedom of the market, and religious rights lean more left. @@yourfriendlycynic654 you’re correct I never even stated Trump was a fascist but he absolutely changed the cultural thinking of the conservative. Fascism can be defined under a number of different categories first being a selected political ideology, ethnic group, or nationality and believing you are the top dog for example Charlottesville is an example of a ethnic group of people (white southerners) believing they are superior and “will not be replaced”. Another is the recent storm on the Capitol where one political ideology (right wingers primarily) believed they had the power to literally storm the building on which the foundation of our government stands on. America has always battled the line of nationalism and fascism I mean look at the height of the Iraq war in the early 2000’s after 9/11 millions of Americans rallied together but when we discover our battle was all for not, we pulled troops out and protested against the government. I’m saying Trump in his rhetoric allowed a mass majority of conservatives (most of which I wouldn’t even define as conservatives considering the fact they can barley name a president before Kennedy and thinks cultural traditionalism has an effect on the government) to fall into echo chambers, rally together, and believe for all intensive purposes their group is the best. That is literally the definition of fascism, regimes are not required but then again isn’t the KKK a terrorist regime responsible for murdering American citizens all for the selfish belief of “we’re better than you.”

"It's like asking are you gay?"
"A little"
One of them starts to answer a question, then the other jumps in with something funny then it just builds, great comedic chemistry
Matt is so cute in this. I just love them both so much
The epitome of what they said about episodes where you start somewhere and have no clue where you end up is the first towlie episode

hearing them call Rob Reiner a cow was the best hahaha
I love this interview
12:20 *I'm sure 2016 - 2020 confused them for This, and they were already changing focus from just writing about Cartman*
love how they did end up making the katrina episode, "two days before the day after tomorrow" just a couple episodes after the Terri Schiavo one
They are such a cute couple ❤
It's crazy they have never used their normal speaking voice on the show
They only used it in the post covid specials to voice adult Kyle and Stan
Normal people see Matt and Trey, I see Stan and Kyle
Really? I see cartman as 2 people
