The custom overdrive he kicks in for the solo is what later became marketed as the Fulton-Webb Textosterone. They can still be found used for a premium (~$250-275 from reasonable sellers) and are wonderful.
I built a EL-84 cathode biased amp based on the JCM 800 amp coupled with Mesa Boogie studio .22 output and power transformer and is the best 17 watts much like this Matchless and is one of my favorite studio amps for getting "that" tone and sustain only EL-84's know how to get! Another "driving" song by Lance...could IPOD this and go for several hundred miles....Thank Lance for ALL of the wonderful vids!! Your band rocks!
its the verb man, i have an old hurricane, and although it is righteous, it doesn't have verb, and that spring adds so much to the harmonics. Im calling my man phil and installing a reverb unit! sounds great
FANTASTIC TONE!!!!! I assume the overdrive came directly from the amp, am I sure? If so, you must have controlled the clean and overdriven tones just turning the Strat's volume knob? Please let us all know about it! Congrats on the beautiful playing and beautiful song!
what pedal do you hit right before you solo. Is it a boost or an overdrive. To tell you the truth im ready to buy a matchless, but stuck in between the Spitfire and the Nighthawk, can you tell me the differences. I know the Nighthawk has an EF86
hi. i know it's been a while, but how loud can it actually get in its cleanish kind of state...can you play clean with a band? or only with boosters? or only distorted?
one of the best amp videos if ever watched on youtube! the tone, the amp, the vibe...perfect
Great demo lance!
You always have such a great tone no matter what gear you're using!
PROPS!
Best tone ive ever heard
That has to be one of the best sounding amps I’ve heard
i ended up buying this amp because of this demo. Great stuff, I love this amp!
+Dustin Schaefer,do you find it loud enough for club gigs ,unmiked .?
+warnistt
Plenty loud man. Volume is not an issue.
+Dustin Schaefer Thank you . Have you found an EQ pedal would be useful ,or, are you happy with it like it sits .
Do you still possess this amp? how does it take pedals?

I own the same exact amp and I recommend it to everyone. Tone for days.
Tommy Taylor on drums for this! Legendary!!
That AMP SOUNDS AMAZING!!
tasty tone! was considering Lightning Reverb but you've sold me on the Spitfire Reverb --> the search is on. thnx
Lance i just bought a Spitfire from Mike Britt, killer little amp! great demo dude.
Cool.. Well lets do a serious of videos on your new pedals. :)
Tasty tone indeed, and some nice musical playing

Man I just love this video. The tone you get from your fingers is amazing. I subscribed!
Incredible playing & righteous tone
You sure do make it sing! Sounds great. Very tasteful playing, love it!
Matchless should have you do all their demo videos. Production/sound is superb.
That was a custom overdrive that Bill Webb built me.
we really should start putting more on the videos about everything used and I will.
Was this the Bill Web Textosterone pedal? Any feedback on Clubman vs Spitfire - the tone you have going on both of those videos is insane.
Finally, that's an EL84 amp I like a LOT!!! Lordy, that's some nice tonestuff.
Great video, great song. Congratulations.
I need one in my life

Congrats on the beautiful playing and beautiful song!
I can't decide which is better: the amp or the epic video effects
Volume wise, how does it compare to the lightning? I know it has much more clean headroom but are their volumes comparable?
GREAT TONE!!! I have a Lightning now i guess i'm gona be 2k shorter! lol. What kinda overdrive did you use?
Wow....Great Tones!
Lance - LOVE that amp - also love the jam - did you ever finish that tune.....? Steve

Supernice :)
Well played.
I heard a click when you stepped over and went into overdrive, was it a pedal or an amp control? Sounds absolutely AMAZING!!

i think this will be my next amp.
Hi Lance,
does it work well at lower volumes (for home use f.ex)?
Thanks,
LC.
Thank you so much!
you should turn reverb off when you kick in overdrive
No actually not as we were just jamming. Could I have fixed that afterwards in Pro Tools? Yes..
Did I?
No
Thank you
Sir!
What’s the name of the song?
What pickups are you using?
Lance, What pickups are in that Strat?
What OD pedal are you using?
Thanks!
