I had it "till today". I loved it. Rode it for exactly a year and had to turn it in gor warranty, basically everything he said is true. It sometimes need more energy to get from.side to side but the outback jumps drops and so ever are amazing to hit with it. The big nose really floats, if you grt your binding even further back you basically manuall in the snow like your board tryes to stand up. On groomers the board can be quick but shutterey stuff is quite vibrating for the nose. What he didn't talk about is the edge with those extra contact points(edge is wavy) and they do there job. Still not as grippy as normal cambrr biards but you get more out of the short camber it has
Great descriptions on board character. It would be great to see some split board reviews as well. How does the split hovercraft ride? How similar is it to the non-split version?
Test rode previous version last year and was surprised at how it shined on groomers more than pow to me. Something about doing long groomed carves on the old board felt really good. It kind of eased me up and made me want to chill out. Weird board.
I have a og hovercraft maybe 5 days of riding deep pow last year and it was an amazing board. I'm sure this is awesome if it's truly an improvement what was the og.
Is there ultralight 2.0 review coming soon? Looking for new split tho but I guess comparing solid boards would give me information what I need. Dont know sure which one I buy. The 2.0 or old model.
I was really psyched on this board before this review. I’m really looking for a good carvier that is fun and playful in the pow. I wanna switch out my psychocandy that I think is super fun in the trees but sucks at carving. Any suggestions?
Hey 👋 I just received my hovercraft 2.0. Would you say that the edges are thinner in this model it says oversized edges but looks much thinner than my 1.0 hovercraft which has had 2 edge sharpens
Depends on the pow conditions. If I was riding wide open pow with occasional trees I'd want the Storm Wolf, but for general resort pow riding I'm going Hovercraft.
Would you recommend this, the ultracraft, or one of the flagships for me if I have a rome agent pro and ME in my quiver (freestyle all-mtn +tree/slashy pow), which will suite the three quiver better? Looking for a longer sidecut groomer shooter that is super confident at speeds.
I love the OG hovercraft and was saddened by this overhaul. But it makes sense given the name. What Jones board do you think is the most similar to the old one? Stratos?
Hi 👋 would you say the edge looks thinner on the 2.0 I just got mine and compared it to the old hovercraft which has has had 1 edging and 2.0 looks fair bit not as beefier
I have a 1.0 and 2.0 side by side and it noticeably Has a thicker edge on the one I have hear .my point is if the edge is the same thickness on both models I may have a defect board but your obviously not much help 🙄
@@Model6780 You do realize the thicker edge refers to the anchor of the edge right? Meaning that it's got a thicker cleat holding it in and more material inside it.
I haven't road the HC but my excavator (last year's model) is fantastic. you cant go wrong with what you listed. Hit some wast-deep powder at Powder Mountain in UT last winter and after that freshies run it definitely is my quiver of one unless we're on the skin track.
Honestly i dont understand the criticism regarding the carving performance of this board. I have a og hovercraft 160 and a hovercraft 2.0 split 156 cm. Obviously the solid board is stiffer and can take more energy when carving at higher speed on steeper terrain, but i do absolutely love carving on my hovercraft 2.0 split. I find it feels natural, its wide enough for you to really push your angle in the turn, it has a nice pop that you feel gives energy between turns, and is still stiff enough and enough edge hold for you to have a great time carving at slow to medium-fast speed. If the split performs like this, the solid version can only be better. That being said i can't wait to try the Freecarver 9000, holy shit.
My brother has the hover craft and I have the flagship. The craft is marginally better in deeper pow. The flagship owns it in justice about every other aspect. My 2¢* * (I’m probably over estimating the value of my information)
This board is awesome until you have to contact customer support. Jeremy Jones has awful customer service, and they have lost me as a long term customer! Not worth the headaches if an issue comes up. With how expensive these boards are, they provide awful assistance.

The hovercraft is my favorite resort pow board. Im definitely getting one of these one day.
How is it on the groomers?
You and I are the same weight. What size board did you ride during this test?

We don’t do split board reviews.

what size did you ride Avran?
Hi there! What length of board were you riding in the test?
Have you riden the Nidecker Beta and could you compare it to the 2.0 ?
I have the 1.0 and also struggle a little bit with what you said about carving.

Have you looked at the Mind Expander? Storm Chaser? Maybe something from Korua like a Pencil would be good.
@@AngrySnowboarder The pencil totally flew over my head!
Sounds exactly like the board I’m looking for.
Thanks man✌️
I've got avran leFever
Sounds incurable, probably should just self immolate to get rid of it!
@@AngrySnowboarderthe only cure is more cowbell, playing, of course, from a bluetooth speaker

Is the hovercraft better than Jones Storm Wolf for pow in your opinion? Thanks

They don't make the Ultracraft anymore so.
@@AngrySnowboarder well if I'm able to snipe one on eBay?
@@AngrySnowboarder also what about the HC 2.0 vs flagship on the groomers?

Mind Expander.
Which similar boards in this category has more snap than the hovercraft? Any of the 3 similar boards or should i be looking elsewhere?
Never hurts to look at the recommendations.

im bummed to hear this doesn't carve the same anymore
This vs. the excavator for general side/backcountry use?
Depends on the snow type and steepness of the runs.
