That's a great point. I actually did that with one of the batteries that night and the next morning (after the firmware update) all of the batteries were charged to 100%. I don't think it was the 57v charge that did it though because i charged that one with the Chargeverter while the others were charged by the 6000XPs.
@@EastTexasHomestead yeah it’s just a good thing to do every few months or so on the pack. Really it helps more for those folks that don’t reach a full charge every day. But mine were straying a bit a few months back and it made a big difference.
That’s crazy that Signature Solar would go to that much effort to help you update your batteries to peak performance like that! Maybe that logic will spill over to auto and electronics makers? 🤔
I know they get a lot of hate for bad customer service but i do think they care and try. I can't imagine growing as fast as they are and trying to keep up with everything.
@@EastTexasHomestead They are not fast like Amazon but the folks I’ve emailed and talked with do care and have always, in time, resolved any issues with my gear. I simply would not have been willing to invest as much as I have in solar with a retailer without a stateside customer service department. 👍
@@TheKiloG69 You definitely need to do the update then. I’m not sure if it was the battery firmware or the inverter firmware (because I updated them at the same time), but since, my batteries have been perfectly balanced and charged to 100% for the first time in a long time
I guess your battery positive and negative are on opposite ends already. I think if they are going to 100% and then lower maybe 20% they should be fine. If your batteries are always middle of the road they can get out of balance I’m sure. You charge and discharge daily with the grid so would think yours would be closer.
I actually have both + and - connections at the top. I discharge to 20% almost every day and have so since I got them. I also charge to 100% every night. At least I thought that's what it was doing. The good news is the firmware fixed everything! I now get to use the full 80% of my batteries instead of 50% like I have been.
@@benkanobe7500 If you want the little box, click the link in the description or pinned comment and use the code on that page. It may take a week to get it, so if you need the update as soon as possible, you can use the file they sent you and the desktop app to update.
@@EastTexasHomestead Thanks. I watch you because I don't know this witchcraft. I don't know what "The desktop app" is, where to get it, or how to use it. I use Macs so that could make things even more difficult. I have the newest EG4 battery that Will P. just reviewed. Signature says it needs the Firmware update and sent the file. I hope the box will solve the problem. How does the box get updated?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Otherwise, call Signature Solar in the morning and ask if the updater box is now shipping with the latest firmware. They will have to load it as far as I am aware. Hope this helps.
Dang! I don't like having anything that has to have its software updated. The defeats the purpose of being off grid and disconnected form the system that wants complete control of people. They want to keep us dependent and connected so they can make money off of us. I miss the video games that you buy and pay only one time. I can give them up. I still have my old video games that do not require updates, upgrades, or any other "ups".
While, I agree with the sentiments expressed. I think you missed the point of this update. It’s not required and your batteries will the same as they did the day you bought them. However, if you want to improve the performance, then the update is recommended. I’ve been very happy with the latest firmware but I could also lived without it.
@@EastTexasHomesteadI have seen several videos of the software update dongle has bricked the battery and the only fix was to replace the bms board. The dongle I got was a PIC device wrapped with heat shrink so maybe they have made upgrades to the dongle. A Pi device would be an overkill and a very expensive design change.
@@colormaker5070 Great point on the Pi vs PIC. I've not seen or heard of the bricking issue, but I'm sure it's happened. If it were a super common issue, I don't think they would be sending them out just to make more work for themselves.
Nice job, sir! Thank you for this!
You bet!
Charging the pack to 57v and letting them sit for a bit can also helpful. It’ll reset the BMS and get the entire pack in balance.

How does the box get the most recent firmware?
They ship it that way. I don’t believe you can update add more to it.
what's your battery charge voltage
I don't remember. It's whatever the 6000XP sets.
needs to be high enough so bms ballances
Signature just sent my Firmware File embedded in an email. No little box. Do I need to call them back? Help please.
