Man!!! you have done a great job!!!! Cant find words to describe how digestible these videos are !!!! you have covered a whole lot of geography topics in an easy to digest manner. the world owes a watch to these videos!!! its also sad to see only few of us have made use of these videos.
This is very well-made. Reverse engineering the logic brick by brick so we could see the structure itself was insanely enlightening. The graphics were top notch!
Such marvellous videos! This and the first one of the series! Thank you so much! Incredible didatic way to present such a complex theme in short and easy to understand vídeos! I will use them in my lectures on climate in UFRPE, a federal university in Brazil.
I just found your channel last night and it's criminal how few subs you have vs. how many you should have. Excellent stuff, hope to see more soon. You have a real knack for speaking and explaining things in a way that even my dumbass can understand :D
First video I've felt the need to comment and thumbs up. Watched both parts and answered all my bits and peaces of understanding of this subject together. Very informative 👏
Got Weather AFSC (Air Force) and this has helped me get a jumpstart before the shove lessons down my throat. Thank you for the knowledge, I appreciate the series and what it has given me.
This is brilliant! should have way more views. I live smack in the middle of the Mediterranean Basin, so it was a shock for me to find out that the dry summer/rainy winter pattern is not universal but pretty much unique to mediterranean climates
this video is wonderful thanks for it. i work on aviation so i have some notion about how weather affect us but you just explained it way better and in less time than any teacher i have ever had thanks
what i learnt in 3 weeks of science teacher you tought better in 20 minutes. +1 sub. wish me luck on getting full marks on my asignment on how global warming causes extreme storms!!
Hi there, me again. Commenting to help with the algorithm :D I don't know if you are familiar with roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons, but this videos helped me flesh out the terrain and climate of the world my players are at. It was really handy to have this information delivered in such a clear way... and the animation and graphics!!! OMG! I have a question but it may be hard to answer. In this fantasy world, our "Earth" has rings like Saturn, thus projecting a shadow on the planet's surface that moves from pole to pole as this "Earth" revolves around the sun. According to my research, this would make the temperature drop to -100ºC or lower. How would the climate react to this? I reckon that according to the Zone this shadow is traversing it either pours snow/hailstorm when it passes through areas of low pressure (Lots of water in the atmosphere), and when passing through high pressure zones everything just....freezes? PD: I just found your "How Ice Ages Happen" video, maybe that'll help :)
You might find this link interesting: www.livescience.com/what-if-earth-had-rings.html Climate is complicated and I don't think I can give you any precise answers, but -100ºC seems quite extreme. Even Mars isn't normally that cold and it's significantly farther from the Sun.
@@ItsJustAstronomical Thank you for the reply! It means a lot. It is quite extreme and it's intended that way, only the equatorial part of this world should be "livable". And that is making a lot of assumptions and well, fantasy :D I'll check the link as soon as I finish doing some work. I notice that the last video you published was almost a year ago. Are you going to release any more videos soon? All the best from Argentina
@@matiasdeya5330 I know, it's been a while. I've been very busy working on another project. I do plan on getting back to making TH-cam videos, but it probably won't be until sometime next year.
Thanks for the amazing video and series. It helped me a lot to round up previous knowledge. Also, the graphics in the last section are amazing, what kind of data/software did you make them?
I used several programs to make this: 3DS Max, Houdini, and Photoshop. The maps are from the Koppen climate classification and that data is readily available for all the world.
Fantastic!! Really feel like I understand climates so much better now thanks so much for these videos. You say that in the summer the earth is tilted so that the sun shines directly at the tropic of Cancer... In the winter is it shining on tropic of Capricorn? If that's the case is it ever actually shining directly on the equator? Is it just that the equator on average has more direct sunshine? X
At the summer solstice (June 20th), it's shining directly on the Tropic of Cancer. At the winter solstice (Dec. 21st), it's shining on the Tropic of Capricorn. At the Spring and Autumn equinoxes, it's shining directly on the equator. Holly, I know you like math, so just think of this as a sine curve. I drew a simple diagram to explain how it works. See here: imgur.com/a/NlhSJPG Does that make sense? By the way, random fact. Both the astrological sign Cancer and the disease Cancer are sort of related. They both come from a Greek word meaning crab. The zodiac sign is called cancer, because it looks like a crab. The disease is called cancer because long ago, Hippocrates saw a cancer that, to him, looked like a crab.
@@ItsJustAstronomical Wowee my own graph thank you very much! Makes perfect sense thank you! Very interesting about the cancer thing. I often wondered about whether there was any relation to the names. Now I know! What else have you got for me? 😄 X
@@callmynamesebastian OK, one more. The constellation Libra means scales uses for weighing things. I weigh 190 pounds or 190 lb. Why do we abbreviate the term pounds as lbs? It stands for libra which was also a unit of weight used by the Romans.
I know! Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it. This really got me thinking about very large scale geoengineering projects.
I love these videos. Thanks for making them. I'm using them for world building. It's scary to think what a global ocean temp increase will do to our climatic zones.
Im going to look so fucking smart the next time someone brings up weather as small talk. Gee its a bit wet and windy. Well yeah the itcz has just moved south and the low pressure zone over the desert is bringing in the wind from the ocean which is moving up the mountains and causing the rain. Of course the corealis effect is what causes them to come from the east. Aaaaaah yeah anyway, bus is here.
Yes, it is I, the one who dares to change the like count from 666 to 667!!! I have obtained the ultimate form of power now, AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
both of your videos on weather are HANDS DOWN the best explanation of weather I've ever found... and I'm a student of weather.
This is phenomenal.
Thank you!

Very good concise explanation of the weather across the earth.
Thanks for greatly increasing my understanding of how the weather works on a global scale!
Now I know what causes the RAINY&DRY seasons in West Africa. Its the movement of the ITCZ north & south of the tropics. Thanks for this explanations🙏🙏
and just in 12 minutes i got PhD in meteorology , thanks
This guy should be a teacher!
Astounded by how well put together both videos are
This is really well done and explained. It all makes a lot more sense now.

I do gliding and paragliding, this is hands down the best explanation and add on to the books I have read, excellent job
The only video that made me understand the weather by not being overwhelm with all of the information given. Thank you :)
These vids deserve way more attention, love learned more here about the weather than my entire 12 years in public school
Thanks, I'm writing a climate report and this really helps
Finally a weather site that talks about the Sthn Hemisphere too and even mentions my New Zealand
