Ram Sarup Ankhi born and brought up in Barnala, was one of the greatest Punjabi writers. He opted to continue his ancestral profession of being a farmer even after completing his education from Mohindra College.
He started his literary career as a poet but later he turned out as a fiction writer. He has contributed with is 15 novels and 8 story books to cherish the richness of Punjabi literature.
The settings and the subjects of his work were more about the village life of Punjab and the atrocities faced by them like indebtedness and drug addiction, even farmer suicides.
