I still personally prefer La Sexorcisto over Astro Creep. J's guitar riffs were so much sicker on that one, so were Sean's basslines. That album and Appetite for Destruction were what made me pick up the bass. BUT, J's guitar and Sean's bass sounded 100x better production wise and the fact that they were able to get the gear of their choice helped alot too.

I like them both for different reasons. Astrocreep had far better sound engineering and quality, but sexorcisto definitely had the chops. Those riffs were so brutal for its time. Only dimebag and a couple others had riffs like that.

The first Rob Zombie record wasn’t a huge departure from the Astro sound but I never liked it or any of zombies solo stuff. WZ was a band and you can’t duplicate the little idiosyncrasies that the band members brought to the table. I wish they made one more record. Great band, great riffs, great look. They took all the weird aspects of American society and put them in a musical and visual blender. Presto, white zombie.

Having seen them live, I'd say the band could do just as good if they played the songs live and ran the vocals off a tape along with the samples. For a front man all they need is to find some homeless guy who can jump around with a mic and say "Yeah" a lot. If he's winded by the end of the second song, he'd be doing a perfect Rob impression. ;-)

I saw White Zombie open for Pantera on this tour. Cool live set. Inverted crucified zombies and monsters, and jumbo trons flashing " Say you love Satan!" Mixed in with pictures of Charlie Manson. Best part of the show, hands down, was BLOOD MILK& SKY. Very hypnotic. As people on here are saying, White Zombie and Rob Zombie are two different animals. The former was a real kick in the nether regions bad ass "band", the latter more of a silly sophomoric WWE entrance music type thing. No matter which outfit though, the live shows were good.

As far as his movie carrier, I'm not really a fan of that either. I'm not bashing the man or anything, I just am not a fan of the direct he went in. But as long as he is happy doing what he is doing that is what really matters. I hope the rest of the band is doing wonderfully as well.

When I saw Powerman 5000 play at the Hampton Beach Casino with Sevendust on the bill I met their mother who was sitting next to the group I was with. That's when I found out that Rob and Spider were brothers. She had said how glad she was for getting them involved in music but knowing the direction and craziness of rock they got involved in. Was an interesting place to get some info from a pretty good source 😅

I know a lot of people like Rob Zombies solo work, but I lost all respect for him after he broke up White Zombie so I refused to partake.
    Sorry not sorry.
I was a huge White Zombie fan. I saw them at Roseland in my hometown of New York City a bunch of times, and they were some of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've seen everyone.
I just thought him going solo, and peacing out on this great band so he could make more of the money was a dick move.
Again - sorry, totally not sorry.

I agree with this sentiment... I loved WZ but I could never get on board with the solo crap. I loved LS:DMV1 the most, AC:2000 for me was just ok. J's guitar work was badass on their first album, that and the samples on debut album is what got me hooked.

    • @Void304

Yep, totally. White Zombie was a great fucking band. Rob Zombie's solo work is garbage. It sounds like extremely watered down White Zombie and has no dynamics whatsoever.

White Zombie was my first gig at London Brixton Academy in 1996, at the age of 16. I've seen tons of big name metal acts since then and this is still my most memorable gig. What I remember is that J, Sean and John were fucking amazing and held the whole show together. What I will say is the bloody singer was disappointing not because of his vocals but his complaining between songs. I came away I bit deflated with his attitude. I was so excited for months and he bitched the whole time. But watching the others made up for his shit attitude. I have seen the Rob Zombie band twice when he toured the first two albums and it was ok but not to the standard of Jay's guitar work.

They should do a reunion show but Rob's ego won't let that happen. It's pretty sad when all these great bands like Sabbath, Motley Crue, and countless other bands that hate each other and get over it for the fans but White Zombie can't do it? Tells you a lot about Rob cause let's face it, he's the one that could make it happen.

La Sexorcisto was a rock'n'roll masterpiece with groovy samples laid in. Astro-Creep was a good EDM record, in so much as Jay and Sean managed to inject rock'n'roll into it. It's kinda like ZZ Top, who started with groovy bluesy rock, then got drum machines & synths to make "Legs" and whatnot.
