    I’m glad that you took the time to cover these lens’s ! With phoneography introducing the ability to use vintage lenses. Series like these will most likely skyrocket. Great job

    Thanks for the vid! I am a very happy user of 135mm f3.5 and 200mm f4. The first excellent portraits lense with super creamy backgrounds. The later for arquitectural details or landscapes. Both give excellent picture quality and are small, durable and pretty.

    I giggled when you said you were having a late night. I do like these slim beer can lenses

      I tend to cram too much into one day (I'm doing it again of course) and when it runs too late, my brain starts to addle.

    This post is very late! Still using my OM1 with 50 1.4 . Does virtually everything I want. Always had problems focusing zooms before AF.

    Agree that 300mm F4.5 is a great telephoto lens, have used it quite a bit both on m4/3 and full frame Sony A7 with excellent results.
    If I were choose the best all round Zuiko telephoto, it would have to be my 180mm F2.8, I think the lens is by far the sharpest and great for portraits on full frame sensors.
    Would love to test out a Zuiko 180mm F2 but as you said, they aren't cheap.

      swiftangel88: the 300mm has such a nice perspective shortening that you don't see on the 200mms and is too tight on the 400mm.
      I look forward to owning a 180mm one day. Your comments have just strengthened my resolve to get one.

    I do own the 300mm and even though the focal length is nice I don't use it very often since you need to step it down quite a bit to get it sharp enough (so handholding is quite difficult) and even stopped down you still get some chromatic abberations. But for about 150€ (210-220 AU$) in near-mint condition it was not that expensive and can stay in my collection :)
    The 180mm f2.8 is probably the next addition to my Zuiko-lineup as soon as I get across one for a reasonable price (and without fungus)!
    All the "white" Zuikos will stay dreams unless I win the lottery ;)

      Groundhog13: I've been pretty lucky with mine. I like the look at f5.6 to f11 (unfortunately I didn't do a lens test on this lens because of it's focal length, so my observations are by eye). The unit I have produces a little purple fringing sometimes, but that's about it. I've seen some modern lenses do worse.
      Let me know if you ever win the lottery. I'd love to know what those fast telephotos can do.

    Hey Oly35mm, how are you.
    Something that has been on my mind for the past few years is why did I buy all the lens that I now have,
    And what is the best lens that I can have in my bag , and not have more then I need, but what I need to do the job and not more...
    Just looking for: 1x prime, lens, 1x zoom lens, 1x long super zoom lens, To use with an OM 4Ti...
    So far I have got in my bag:
    OM 28mm that I hate to use, OM 50mm that I love and use the most, OM 65-200mm zoom that I don't use a lot...
    And now I am looking to get a super zoom lens.
    One of the OM lens that I have come back too over and over is the 500mm mirror lens. If I would buy it in the uk today £600 or more...
    The things that is my most my mind when buying new kit, I will ask you the same things if you don't mind.
    So I can see from someone's else point of view what would be in there dream camera bag...
    -So far I have a one good lens... And also a good zoom lens...
    -If I would buy any of the super zoom OM lens, which one would I buy?
    -What would I like to shot with it?
    -Do I think that I would use it so much that I would not mind or feel bad after spending all the money to buy it?
    If you would give me you views it would be great help...
    All the best and sorry if this is mind blowing from Jonathan William Fay

      G'day Jonathan. It's really a question only you can answer.
      However, I can tell you what I would keep out of my lenses if I needed to prune down to only three Zuiko lenses:
      1) 50mm f1.4 (but the f1.8 is also a good choice);
      2) 28-48mm f4.0;
      3) 50-250mm f5.0.
      I hope this helps with your pruning.

      Yes, they do fit any OM system camera, including 10s, 20s, 30s and 40s.

    I just won on eBay a 200mm f4 advertised as near mint for the grand sum of £26 (UK) thats about $50 Australia or $35 US. I also have a 135mm f2.8, two 50mm's a f1.4 and a f1.8, a 28mm f2.8 also a 2x teleconvertor all not to be adapted for a mirror less camera but another little gem, a OM10 oh and I've a T32 flash. The whole lot weren't much over £250, a bit of a bargain in my opinion. Unfortunately a couple of days ago I missed out on a 85mm f1.8 😒. I was also given a Sun 35-200mm f3.8 om mount made in Japan which is something similar to the old proper Japanese Hanamex, which is a all metal has a nice big 67mm diameter front end.

    I'm a bit confused regarding the intro of this video. As far as I remember, there WAS 180mm f2,0, 250mm f2,0 and 350mm f2,8, and all tree of them were white...

    • @oly35mm
      @oly35mm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are correct (sorry about that). I did this video at the end of a batch lot of six (never again) and my brain was a bit addled by that time. Unfortunately I'd sold the 200mm f5.0 by the time I went to edit this video and couldn't re-shoot it with voice corrections.
      Believe it or not I actually got it wrong again (later in the video). There is an con-screen correction at 00:09:29.
      As it turns out I have just traded in the 200mm f4.0 for the 180mm f2.8 (the black one) and the new lens is a ripper.
      Thanks for commenting.

      WAIT, wait, wait...
      You say 180mm f2.8 (the black one) is a ripper?? Couse I'm looking at that lens for a long time now, thinking I should buy it...
      Video, please...

      Thanks for the request, but the Oly35mm project has now finished and there will be no more videos or Flickr posts. However, I can thoroughly recommend the lens.
