the result looks great. I'd give some advices on the choice of materials. First the grout: there are specific grouts that are resistant to abrasion, chemicals and water. They are called epoxy grouts. About gluing the tiles to the sink with glue: I wonder if it will last for years, being it exposed to water. I would have used the epoxy grout as adhesive. Maybe sanding the sink before applying the tiles would help too, so that the surface is not smooth.
@@aminaiddir1991 hi, just as a warning I'm an amateur and I haven't used those grouts yet. But I've done a lot of reading and research on materials and I've seen that there are these grouts that are used for surfaces that are exposed to water and chemicals, like in swimming pools, kitchens, etc.. They seem to be very resistant
@@aminaiddir1991 2 products that I noted down when I did the research: Mapei Kerapoxy Litokol Starlike Grout I remember that Mapei has other epoxy grouts. Look for the document with the specifications of the product that I have indicated. They write if the grout is resistant to water, chemicals, mechanical stress, if it doesn't stain, for which type of mosaic materials is suitable, etc..
I've done this kind of tile before, but using the whole piece, and I must say you did a GORGEOUS JOB!!! Holy moly that is a beautiful sink! Maybe the most beautiful sink I've ever seen! Now I want to go find something to tile! Thank you so much - what a fantastic inspiration.
Tiles are a lot easier to cut on a pre-determined line if you score them well first, in case that helps anyone. Then you don't need to nip them really. You can just snap them and they'll default to the deep score you've already made. This is what stained glass artists do all the time and it works! Lovely sink, Summer - what a great project...
Just found this researching how to mosaic my bathroom counter top. I am make glass tiles, and thought it would be fun to use them in my own home. I kinda like the idea of just purchasing them, instead I went the long and tedious process of making every single tile by hand... I like the way yours turned out, what a great project, especially for an old sink turned outdoor fountain, or a guest bathroom sink where you want things to be just a little more yummy, thanks for taking the time to make the video, I am inspired.
Thank you for sharing your tiling technique. Your vid was so easy to follow and the results are beautiful ✨ I just finished tiling my old chipped up sink and now it’s looks super ❣️And it was cheap and fun to do… I used my hands without gloves🤣 hahaha! Thanks again!
Hey there Summer. I just caught your video, oh my gosh. So helpful and the result is absolutely gorgeous. Why have a plain sink when you can have this! The tutorial was perfect too. Thanks!
Great color choices Summer! So a year out, how's it holding up especially around the drain? I am at the final stage, about to grout and doing almost the same as you (just found your vid, wished I had so sooner!) as I couldn't remove the fixtures before doing this. I am most interested in how you grouted around the drain? Did you just mud over it and wipe around the circular edge until it was even and clean?
Oh my God that is absolutely gorgeous you totally transformed your sink wow it looks like something you see in a a real expensive hotel or something that was beautiful wow thank you
Hi, nice job! Looks beautiful. I am also tiling a porcelain sink right now. I decided to use thinset mortar as the adhesive and worried that the surface would be too slick to hold that. Primer paint won't stick to shiny porcelain. I suppose one could use a belt sander (handsanding is impossible!), but I didn't have one. So I found this product called Mapai Eco Prim Grip. I painted it onto the surface, and it gave it just the right texture to accept thinset. I am looking forward to hearing how the E6000 holds up! Looks like another good option. The only thing I would do differently than you did is that I would cover the drain hole while I was grouting to be absolutely no grout went down the drain. I'm messier than you are, though. Thanks for this video. I am going to share it.
@Jill, I'm getting ready to this on a porcelain sink also! So you used the Mapai Eco Prim Grip as a primer and then a thinset mortar? Is there anything you would do differently?
(HUG) Wow how beautiful, love how you did around the faucet, and the dark blue going into light blue in the sink. Great job, God blessed you with an amazing talent!
This video was very informative, and detailed. It was easy to understand and no]w I'm ready to tackle my bathroom sink! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I was scared to try mosaicing, but not now!! You inspired me!! Sink looks great!!
Thank you Summer I am going to do this to our hand basin as we have terrible water here and it has stained the basin very badly yours looks fantastic . Thank you for sharing this has been very helpful.

Any update on how the sink looks after 2 years? I have the same sink and would love to try this!!
The sink is okay after 4 years but I'm not 😢.

Thank you. I will try that.
I already tried the vitrail technique on mosaic tiles and it didn't work. It's not the same materials.
Reminds me of those Moroccan Courtyards. They have breathtaking mosaics that take me to heaven lol

This is really great. I just bought a house with a sturdy vanity but the sink has deep grooves in it. This will be a fun way to upcyle the sink.
