In electric vehicles, the first mover has no advantage. But there's a disadvantage of idle capex. This is not rocket science, the tech is far simpler than combustian engines. Why wouldn't maruti jump in when there's demand? The rocket science is actually the battery technology. Someone who builds a battery that lasts 20 years will be the winner of EV game. If it lasts 1000kms on a single charge, then you don't need much of public charging infra. And then there's self driving technology, which is already live. And thats not easy to build even for a Toyota. There are so many unknows, I think Maruti is wiser by taking a wait and watch approach. Let others burn money.

I think in 2-wheelers ,it is Hero Honda, in 3 and 4-wgeelers, it is M &M and Tata. In infrastructure -NTPC,TATA power. (But there is a fair chance that Reliance with its deep pockets can ,in future, disrupt by entering into infra. Sir, a thoughts comes to me. Battery will replace fossil fuel ( petrol, diesel) and oil marketing companies have valuable land (real estate),so why they are not considered for possible candidates for development of infra for EVs.
