      Since, remote learning I have been fooling around with iMovie to create my read-a-loud videos for my online class. Thank you for the video, it was super helpful. During my lunch today I plan to watch your video of the Sagrada de Familia in Barcelona that you made with iMovie.

    This is the first time since 1993 (when I got my first mac) that i have since instructions so clearly offered. The use of shortcuts is a first. Never seen any tutorial do that. Something I do when I am showing someone how to use a program. Saves so much time.

    This tutorial is really excellent. You cover a lot of information quickly but that's exactly how to teach these techniques because the viewer can always go back to review and you cover a broad spectrum of information in the shortest possible time. This will help a lot of people.

You provided enough information with clear instructions and not more than I needed. The PDF is a great resource. Within an hour of watching the tutorial I had edited two interviews and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I will have five more to go and I feel prepared to tackle the task. THANKS!

    Help! Beautiful video by the way! I have made a few iMovie's in the past and all was well until I started to do more work on it tonight and the music plays and the thumbnail photos show up on the timeline but they don't show up on the movie screen. There are no warnings or prompts. Any idea why the movie screen is black when the photos are in the timeline?

    • @yogabossa9378
      @yogabossa9378 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The source image is probably gone and although iMovie shows the thumbnails, it can't play the missing clip portions. Not crazy about the way iMovie manages the files as it completely trashes the events and not only removes them from its playlist when you get rid of them thinking they're safe within the program. At least, that's what happened to me...you'll be fine if you can find the original clips - just upload them again to your project : ) Hope that helps!

    Hey there, thanks for your tutorial. Its made my editing much much faster. I'm at this stage where I want my videos to look more professional - have an intro section with music and some effects and also have some animation for the text during the video. I find it impossible to do that on iMovie. Do I need to upgrade to Final Cut Pro considering the kind of videos I am making? Or is there some other way?

  • @joannemoudy6857
    @joannemoudy6857 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m a 70 yr old beginner & this video helps me so much! Many thanks! My goal is to create a multi section video story. I’ve got lots of videos I need to cut sections from the middle. But I’m not sure how. You cover the beginning & end points, but not the (sometimes many) middle points.
    I’ve got to get rid of long pauses & tighten each video. Have you covered that in a different instructional video?
    Thanks again!!

    Wonderful tutorial and resources, David!
    Although I have been playing on iMovie (and Final Cut) since 2000, I can truly say there was so much i learnt from your tutorial that i didn’t know before. Shortcut keys were great. Some of which i already knew, but there were many that I ‘vaguely recall’ using at some stage somewhere in history ! ... but have since totally forgotten all about !!! So thank you for great awesome shortcut refreshers!
    Your pdf guide is magical and such an insane superb resource.
    Thanks for sharing.
    BTW, your video footage and colour correction enhancements are just amazing! Maybe some lessons next time on “how to” re-shooting video. Love your silky smooth (as opposed to my own often “jerky”) footage.
    Superb tutorial! Regards from Oz

    Ya, Kinda LOL I am very new to this. This is the first time looking into doing editing. I just retired from trucking of 30 crazy years. I just bought the mac mini base model. I have always had an iPhone & IPAD and never realized what to do with them but listen to music and watch TH-cam. The Mac is way different and I do not have a clue, That is what makes it fun until i downloaded Google Crome then everything worked that i had on my PC. Sorry to ramble on but you teach it very smooth for a guy like me that nows about this as dirt. So thank you for all your help. I believe you have other videos on how to enter the Apple world and will be watching for them. Stay safe

    I learnt so much more in these few minutes compared to hours looking elsewhere. Great insightful tips that will drastically improve my editing. There are many decisions made in your video which are fast forwarded over, such as reordering and recutting clips. It would be great to hear more about the decision process about how you reorder, and choose clips, how to edit and how to edit to the soundtrack. There is a lovely crescendo in the final cut, which you are obviously editing your cuts to which you can really feel. Would be great to hear more about the creative decisions you make: when to keep a clip, when to ditch it, when to shorten etc. Great work. I can't thank you enough.

    This is a great tutorial. I am starting to edit on Imovie to start my TH-cam channel and this really helped me with making sure that I know how to really use the app.

    Great video. Went there 20 years ago and it was full of scaffolding! I've learnt a lot about editing video. I've always been a stills snapper now retired. Take care and regards from the UK.
