I just bought a 2016 3.8 Ultimate recently and I just did this little modification and I think it works great. And I didn't notice any change in the performance at all.

bro that was an amazing trick to to make the Genesis sound loud you have earned yourself a sub and I like it would have been even more awesome if you would end up putting a cut off air in between so you can make it louder whenever you want
I dont see the difference between this and muffler delete...???? Isnt it the same as there is no muffler connected .? Besides the air leaking out a bit under the car . Idk I feel like if I did it I'd use a really thin washer to keep gap to a minimum
There really isn't one. This is just a cheaper way to go about it and if all your looking for is sound it is actually not a bad idea although it's going to make the car smell a bit. You smaller washer Idea would work also just make sure they are a snug fit or that rattling will drive you insane
in new york with our potholes cars that low getting messed up big time. I'm seeing exhaust, oil pans,front and read bumpers all over the streets with cars that low.
Hmmm what's the point of making that gap and putting the muffler back on if it's not even being used? I would have just removed it completely for weight purposes. It's pointless to have on if you don't have the exhaust flowing through it.

3.8 exhaust modifications will always sound better than the 2.0 and that’s just purely because of the engine, 6 cylinders sounds a lot more nice than 4 cylinders
so basically, let's just remove the muffler instead of doing it properly and buying an actual true dual exhaust. this sounds nice I'll admit, but if you're in the situation where you need to pass regular emission tests, this will make your car fail.

And there’s backfire and exhaust leaks but don’t mind me….. this is dumb. Bring it to a shop and straight pipe 50% of it. More power and less headaches. Cost like 80 bucks to cut and weld at Midas near me
Instinct Z Most places only have a legal limit on the front windows. In NC we can only have 35% in the front windows but there is not limit for the back windows.
Instinct Z 20%. it looks dark in the rear because i have black interior and the sun was shining through the front windshield and through the front windows
DIY Genesis Coupe Mods I did with mine but you gotta realize not everyone has money for that with bills to pay ect. That's an expensive mod because most people don't go cheap. This is a temporary mod.

So do you only put one "spacer" on the flange? Do you only tighten the side the spacer back?

only potential concern i can think of is carbon monoxide poisoning in the cabin but it's far enough back you don't have to worry about that.

So I will have all four bracket bolts back in place? Or just 3? And with the flange nuts will only one side have nuts? Or both sides?

It doesn’t, the whole backpressure deal is bogus, especially if you run this on the 2.0T since it would benefit feeding the exhaust gases to the turbo
