I love this when I was a teenager it was hilarious 🤣 sitting with Mum and Dad aww 🥰 😇😇. What a laugh we’d all have lovely to see it again ❤️
This wonderful series was running at the same time as You Rang Milord, The New Statesman, Blackadder IV, and only a year after Yes Prime Minister had finished. Then followed by Prime Suspect, The Darling Buds of May, Birds of a Feather, Keeping Up Appearances, Men Behaving Badly, Ab Fab, and so much more. Ah, the memories. The 1988-1993 period is likely the best five-year period in TV history (British OR American).
I didn't get where i am today by not being able to identify rare delights of English literature and i give you David Nobbs as a rare, unequalled Divine gift to English speaking mankind.
Superb. Nobody does it better than the Brits. And I discover series previously unknown to me all the time.
What a joy to watch this fantastic series again. Brings back memories of watching with my Mum, loved the theme tune, one of those...you couldn't stop singing once in your head!
Mr Bidden, you have made me happy beyond measure in posting this video! A very young everybody; Sir David Jason, Gwen Taylor, the great Stephanie Cole, David Thewlis is fan-bloomin'-tastic too. I look forward to building my playlist, starting with this episode. THANK YOU.
A Bit of A Do, was excellent! Secrets come out, adultery, mean spirits, insecrtities all joined into one. Go sh, real life at its best!
Another British tv good cast
I'm super-impressed with the quality of the audio on this, perfect.
“That’s what’s good about being old ya don’t have to give a bugger” .😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This series was so good
I loved this when it was on. I bought the dvd box set a few years ago
This suddenly popped in my head recently. So glad to see episodes uploaded! I remember watching this in my early teens. Made quite an impression on me 😊
Absolutely delighted to discover that I can now see this wonderfui series again!
I absolutely love this series and finally someone has uploaded it and with excellent sound and picture quality too. Thank you so much ♥️👍
I can't believe I've stumbled on this!! Sooo enjoyed this series back in the day!!
Thank you, John. I can watch this over and over again.
Great cast - so much talent.
Fabulous thank you so much for uploading this not seen it since it came out brand new loved it then and do now as well
This was on around my dad’s 39th birthday and I was 3, before Lindsay was born.
Classic wonderful series ❤️
Paul Chapman, playing Laurence Rodenhurst here, was a regular in the series, As Time Goes By, playing Stephen. He is a dentist in both series.
Nite nite sweet dreams lovely Michael Jayston X
Oh wonderful! I loved this series, thank you SO much for posting it!
I'm so glad I found this series ,tonight. I remember seeing it a few years ago and it is just as hilarious now as it was the first time I saw it ! I do wish we could see all the other episodes from the series in a regular format like this, I hope that they will be available soon. But I do want to thank you so much for airing this part of the series.
Thank you for posting this great show.
Watching from Durban South Africa. I have recently became fond of British comedy. More especially the old ones #imadurbaner
Have a go at 'Porridge' and 'going straight'. And I assume you have seen only fools and horses?
The old ones are the best, that was when we were allowed a sense of humour!
Love this
Very entertaining:)).The dentist here was also playing a dentist in As Time Goes By...
Rip Nicola Pagett, so beautiful.
AH Nicola Pagett such beauty , fancying a bit of rough. So true in life for many couples, I for one can remember such a time in my own life, Happy Memories.
Hi johnbidden72, do you have the rest of series one and series two, and if so could you upload?!!! Much appreciate what you have up already 👍
This is soooo funny. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this. Really a shame programming has changed over the years.
Rest in peace Nicola
Awesome. Like others I just stumbled on the series.
For some reason, seeing this reminded me of "A Very Peculiar Practice".
Adore this series!!!
Wonderful..tickity boo😂❤❤❤
This is a great series
Wonderful closing line!
most of us have been there. its not a classic wedding gone wrong if it does not fall in to one or all 3 off the following. piss up , punch up , throw up. happy days.
This is so funny! It took me a few moments to recognize David Jason. Thank you for posting this.
I bought this on VHS in the early 90s.
david nobbs was a superior writer to say the least.a bit of a do is one of the best comedy/drama series ever made. i honestly did not know till about a year ago that david thewlis left after one series after being worried about being typecast.most actors around 25 years old < that he was at that time> would give their back teeth to be in something like this these days with such a great cast. in hindsight a rash move at the time but very like richard coyle who quit being jeff in coupling it worked out well in the long run.
Yes. David Nobbs was a unique voice and much valued. avid Thewlis was amazing in the adaptation a few years back of An Inspector Calls.
Inspector Frost and Peter Guillam!
Bloody hell, reminds me why I don’t like weddings. Spot on.
With David Janson this young it must have been in the 70's or 80's.
BTW, thank you for this very enjoyable series.
In this series Janson,...to me looks a lot older and shorter that he did in....:open all hours"....I like Stephanie Cole especially in ..."waiting for God"
He was 48/49, but I think the character is meant to be in his fifties. Del Boy would of been early to mid forties in 1989.
A Bit Of A Do was made in 1988. Hence why there was no OFAH series made in 1988.
It came out in 1988 I watched it and loved it brand new and not seen it until now
Oh, it’s Gwen Taylor from Heartbeat!
Thank you so much for posting...good ole days of tv
I love 💘this dodo much
Oh, Dear!
The scene with Nicola Pagett helped me tremendously during my teenage years. Those thighs!
Thank you for posting this - is it possible for you to upload other episodes from this and the second season?
`Wow. We're seeing a lot more of Nicola Pagett on this show than we did when she played Elizabeth Bellamy on Upstairs Downstairs.
Michael Jayston ofcourse went on to play Raquel's dad and identify the Lesser Watch in Del Boys garage
@@pamshonfeld7221 cant remember that, i remember the title, i shall see if i can find it to watch thanks pam
ah found them, i recall it but didnt watch it at the time, i shall make some cheese on toast and tuck into some episodes, there youve sorted me sunday evening out 😂
and continuing from my original comment i see cassandra's dad from only fools and horses is in it aswell, and if i recall his wife was called pam 😂 😂
David Jason at his best
Here 🎉
yes Sir David Jason
The inside of the church looks exactly like the church from As Time Goes By.... Anyone agree?
@@elisecooper1942 It's St John the Baptist chuirch in Knaresborough: compare upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Interior_of_St_John_the_Baptist_Church%2C_Knaresborough_%2819th_March_2013%29_004.JPG/800px-Interior_of_St_John_the_Baptist_Church%2C_Knaresborough_%2819th_March_2013%29_004.JPG with 3:00 in the episode.
David Jason is in everything
Open All Hours, The Wind in the Willows, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, Angel Mouse, A Sharp Intake of Breath, Lucky Feller... and of course, Only Fools and Horses
Frost, Porter House Blue,
Darling Buds Of May,
He got offered a episode Doctor Who In late 80s
I see _Tinker Taylor's_ Peter Guillam...
I might because of this series that they didn't do a series of OFAH in 1989.
They are #SOoooo #GlancingAROUND !💁
Was this on ITV on Friday nights?
Was the actor who played Norris Cole in corrie in this program as a bar man in one of the series
Yes. He kept up a constant patter of "Can do. Tickety boo. Just the job" etc as he was serving his customers.
Anybody else things bride looks like Sally Field?
its a real OFAH REUNION and David Thelwis was in the band ' a bunch of wallies'
Somewhat funny show, but the closed captioning didn't get half of the dialogue right. Can't imagine what a deaf person would make of the cockup.
loved it shame its so blurred
LUPIN!
Does this feature Dave?
@22:50 Nicola Pagett in a basque with black stockings and suspenders. Wowwww.. this is every red-blooded males dream.
I bet Gwen Taylor’s children or nieces/nephews aren’t cheeky little horrors. Or whatever her name is in the comedy.
#Hahahahaha to them it is getting at !💁
🙌🙌🙌🤷
Such dismay at the prospect of a grandchild seems anomalous to me.
I think it wasn't so much dismay at a grandchild, as dismay that the grandchild's father was so "common". The Rodenhursts (Jenny's parents) and the Simcocks (Paul's parents) were very different social classes - for all that this should matter in this day and age. I think Jenny's dad thought she should have chosen someone "more like one of us". Of course Liz Rodenhurst and Ted Simcock did their bit to cement the relationship between the families ;-)
@@Mortimer50145
Yes, of course. Moreover, those were different times - and the series was, after all, a comedy.
Cheers :)
💕💕💕🌴
that was fascinating if you consider the social messages it was normalising. reminds me of boys from the back water.
Stay woke Remus Lupin!
David thewlis
So in other worlds avoid tuna fish that will please the vegans
4 Nicola Paget ♥❤
Love it when people say the wrong thing and put there foot in it . Always a comman thing people tend to do at these kind of functions
I keep waiting for this to be funny or even enjoyable.
I watched this as it was on T.V and I guess my mum was watching it... So i had to, must have been in the 80's or very early 90's.... I though tit was terrible. My opinion hasn't changed.
Long live King Charles III 🌹
Gawd, weddings sure are awful. Nobbs is brilliant though.
ook😎
Dierdre from corries mum,.
The actor..the groom
Makes me skin crawl. In any role.
David Thewlis is a fantastic actor, who's played a wide range of roles. I'm super surprised by your assessment of him. He played a psychopath in Prime Suspect and I've never ever forgotten that performance. I'd look at his body of work and give him another chance. Maybe you'll see him with new eyes.
16 minutes in and I'm out!
Having just watched ‘golden girls ‘ .... this was a pile of pants ..... 🤷🏼♂️🤔
Not many series can compete with ' golden girls '. Count Arthur Strong Radio Show perhaps. Both extremely funny.
They should have invited Hyacinth and Richard Bucket, they would have been a riot. What a funny series. Enjoyed it immensely.
#RotHscHild !
