to be fair to this being an outerworld song the game does the same as the song. it's a stylized version of capitalism took to its extreme. Stupes does an excellent job with this song and this has some of the most quotable lines of his nerdcore career (dollar in idolatry rent an apology con in economy work for the right to work etc) it does pretty much exactly have the same theme as the game.
"Your very lucky if your making a living off of what you enjoy doing." So very, very true I'm afraid. Even then, you tend to work so much, that it sucks the enjoyment of what you find enjoyable out of whatever it is you do. Excellent reaction to the song, much the same as my own. When I'm at work, I catch myself sometimes humming the chorus. We work to work to get the right to buy ourselves the right to live and earn the right to do. I'm, baring something extraordinary, am going to have 7 days off of work every year for the next 40 years, make so little money that I have no retirement fun, but what little I have will have to be enough. I might earn enough money to live a small, half-forgotten portion of my dreams before I die. If I'm lucky. Kind of makes you want to pick up arms, fight for a better tomorrow, but whose to blame? Everyone, and no one.
was in the middle of typing when ya noticed, made me laugh. so an industrial shanty song? yea i can see that defiantly with the beat timing. i knew nothing bout the game either but my friend plays it so i sent him the link and he says he was spot on with it. yea his songs are up beat in style but down trodden in context.
yes dan bull was a background character in this one. the other guy is rustage another big TH-cam nerdcore guy more on the anime side of nerdcore. they are background character and chorus singers on many of stupes songs. like have a fowl day has stupes in costume chasing rustage around a park.
My suggestion is to watch Stupes song *Losing my patients", it has this 1980's feel of rock and punk, with of course the overall charm and dorkiness of Stupendium himself. :)
@@generictimestamperstupendi9021 i think the line that stuck with me was "wheres theres a will theres a way to inheritance, whether we killed her or not is irrelevant" theres a lot of good lines i remember from that song but thats the one my mind reflects on more than others.
Satisfactory the game is more about corporate ecological resource exploitation, though, while The Outer Worlds is about exploiting the workers and indentured servitude.
The song is a good talking point for how far can we push capitalization where's the good medium ground before and much power corporations really have we teater on that fine line.
Like a lot of his songs, it's true that this isn't 'just' about the game. But that's partly because the games aren't 'just about the game' either. A lot of games like The Outer Worlds and Cyberpunk 2077 have very political themes and social commentary and aren't just about sci fi space ships and robot arms and cool guns and cars etc.

I feel like a lot of people who listen to this song don’t realize that this song is a HUGE criticism of capitalism, even though the lore of the lyrics might suggest anarcho-capitalism but criticism of the latter is still criticism of capitalist exploitation of workers
Luke communism isn't exploitation as well. Doesn't matter how hard you work, you'll get the same. Not that crony capitalism isn't a thing(let businesses fail pls)
not gacha kid thinkin he knows shit, who told you this.... your dad????? communism isnt bad but marxist leninism is (the ideology of the best known ''communist society'')
It's not a matter of political extremes, it's a matter of centralized authority; in a socialist state like the USSR, you had a small group of people (the ruling party) with a high degree of authority over the general population. It was a one-party state, so you couldn't change what small group of people was in charge of you, allowing the people in power to be as strict as they wanted without any fear of losing their position. And since their primary interests were building up very powerful industry and outcompeting other states (mainly the US), it was in their best interest to strictly control the populace so that A. Everyone was working toward those ends (hence strict economic control), and B. Nobody was helping their competitors instead (hence secret police and strict border control, to make sure nobody was sneaking secrets to the Americans or abandoning the country for a different one). In Capitalist businesses, you have a small group of people (shareholders) with a high degree over their workers. This is inherently oppressive just like a one-party state since you can't vote for your bosses (and inherently exploitative, as a business cannot make profits if your pay equals the value you add to the company!), but as long as there are multiple businesses you'll have multiple options of where to work, giving you a say over which small group of people controls you. This choice also keeps standards of treatment higher, as any business that treats its workers worse than its competitors should lose employees and fall under. However, the natural tendency of Capitalist industry is toward monopoly, where the most successful businesses buy out any competitors they can, and expand into new sectors; when that happens, you end up with something even more similar to a one-party state, where the people in charge can be as strict as they want to be. And since their primary interests are making the highest profits possible and outcompeting other businesses, they're going to do whatever they can to maximize how much money you make them and minimizing how much they give you (hence keeping wages to a bare minimum and hours to a maximum, and things like company stores to get you to put whatever money you make back into the company), and do whatever they can to keep you from helping their competitors in any way (hence strict surveillance of employees, non-competition clauses in contracts, and NDAs). The only way we keep this from happening within a Capitalist economy is with government regulation, but since the 80s a lot of anti-monopoly regulations have been cancelled. Labor Unions can also help, but since the 80s we've also seen lots of policies to crush Union organizing. That's why today you see businesses like Amazon swinging into monopoly territory and exerting an insane degree of authority over their workers. A more permanent solution would be if instead of using the state to force businesses to be less authoritarian, or having workers bargain with all-powerful employers, we gave workers democratic ownership over their businesses - we have some businesses like that today, Worker Co-ops, but they aren't a very big sector of the economy.
You are confusing capitalism with corporatism. Both are better than communism. And yes socialism and communism are the same thing. Only difference is how they are starving you.
What ? They have competently different definitions. Socialism is a system where the workers control the means of production, and communism is that but in a stateless, moneyless, classless society.
