This song is like the feeling of conquering a decade long heroin addiction, no longer chained to misery and despair and walking freely in one’s own sweet sovereignty as the sun shines upon your face and you feel each breath grace your lungs after sleepwalking through the world for so, so long. The raw beauty of existence.
@@Turtleisrad I’ve read about that! Ollie nails it with the lyrics. Also fun fact: my first real hardcore addiction was ketamine. I did monstrous amounts of that stuff daily. It eventually thrusted me in to full blown mania, delusions of grandeur, perceiving patterns that seemed to support the idea that everything somehow centered around me. It truly felt that life itself was a movie about me and everyone else were just characters in my biopic. Ollie said it drove him to the brink of suicide. I absolutely love this song. One thing I don't understand about people that are like "this is not metal" and things like that - look, instead of trying to find out the precise genre of the song or hating on it because it's not how to "wanted" it to be, why don't you just simply listen to the lyrics of the song and try to understand what it is tying to tell you. Imagine Sleepwalking with super heavy continuous electric guitar and Oliver just screaming and groaning - it just doesn't fit! Appreciate the song for how it is. It is true that the songs have changed through the years but what are you gonna do about it? It's their decision and if you don't like it don't listen to it.
I think older fans miss the deathcore elements and the entire metal community just has this "Oh, a metalcore band, they can't be metal, metalcore sucks" because of bands like Falling In Reverse and (early) Asking Alexandria. It's ridiculous because the production value and the synths are amazing, some soft ad vibrant strings, great harmonies and crowd vocals, some of Matt Nicholis' best drumming came forth on Sempiternal... This has to be the best song they've written and produced in their whole career. It also happens to be my favourite song from my favourite band.
The Light At The End I don't think you fully understand how huge metal is, but BMTH is metalcore, not metal. There's doom, power, progressive, death, black, folk, speed, thrash, avant-garde, drone, stoner and tons of other forms of metal, but metalcore isn't one of them.

People discovering BMTH now: They were heavy before like deathcore but later they explored new ways to express themselves. Their talent is not limited to a particular genre and therefore they are not going to limit themselves either.

No this isnt the reason that he stopped screemo and this kind of music he damaged his voice in a level that made him not be able to sing like this or he will never be able again to sing anyways if he does thay
When he said “SING IT!!” in 1:48 he made me feel like I’m part of this song. This music is truly a masterpiece I don’t think most non rock listeners would understand the emotion brings in this song
Ever since a friend that I cared and love for a whole year dumped me and erased every single trace of our friendship and memories because of my selfishness and aggressive nature, making our friendship toxic and turning myself a comforter into a killer. Right now, I can’t stop listening to this song as I reflect on my mistakes in regret, guilt and anger.
I suffer from anxiety. My ex presented me to BMTH about 10 years ago. I never knew why this song resonated so well with me, made me feel like it expressed something I couldn't. After therapy in the recent years I've come to realize that this lyrics and music are almost a perfect representation of what an anxiety attack feels like.
I used to listen to this song throughout the nights when I was in high school. Over 10 years later and I came to visit my town, I'm in the same bedroom and still listening to it during the night when my grandparents are asleep, it never gets boring! Masterpiece!

Do I disappear? Edge of the world Should I sink or swim? Or simply disappear? Time stood still The way it did before It's like I'm sleepwalking Fell into another hole again It's like I'm sleepwalking Wake up! Take my hand and Give me a reason to start again Wake up! Pull me out and Give me a reason to start again Time stands still (Time stands still) Time stands still (Time stands still) Your eyes are swallowing me Mirrors start to whisper Shadows start to sing My skin's smothering me Help me find a way to breathe Time stood still The way it did before It's like I'm sleepwalking Fell into another hole again It's like I'm sleepwalking (It's like I'm sleepwalking) (It's like I'm sleepwalking) (It's like I'm sleepwalking) Time stood still The way it did before It's like I'm sleepwalking
About this time every year, when I fall back into my depressive rut, I listen to this song so much. Ever since this album came out it's been my go-to. This song has gotten me through so many bad times. I'll forever be thankful for this band and this song. 💕
Same thing. I'm 33 now, got into metal with nu metal in the 2000s, then got more in thrash and more "elite" genres but somehow skipped this era because they were part of a "genre" we couldn't get caught listening. Now in 2021, through this pandemic, I'm rediscovering tons of bands I refused to listen to at the time and now regret that I could have been there to experience all that but denied myself. Glad to see the band still doing well and still see new people discovering their music.
the new generation thinks that Can You Feel My Heart is the best song, but this one is a masterpiece, it's been 10 years since Sempiternal came out and I cry listening to it, Bring Me The Horizon is a band that never loses its magic and its essence
i loved sempiternal, thats the spirit and ultimately post human survival horror, but anything newer from that i dont really like that much to be honest
Just imagine you're in a pub, chilling and BMTH starts to casually play behind your back. I would fall off my chair so hard that the island would split in half.
I remember listening to this when i was 15 and it shaping my music taste for years to come. Im 25 now and i still love it as much as i did before, favorite album of all time ❤
Well here we are. My girlfriend broke up with me just yesterday. She introduced me to the whole BMTH scene. This song somehow gives me closure. I feel like sleepwalking...still can't believe this is happening and I feel like it will just go downward for me for some time. Just hope I wake up in time...right? Its the first time I cried because of a girl. I hope she finds a person who can give her what I obviously couldn't. Hope she'll be happy. She's too good of a girl. Deserves it.
Hey man, don't feel bad about yourself i'm in the same position... We broke up a few weeks back and i'm still not over her. I love her. But don't put the blame on yourself. I also hope that she finds someone who can give her what she needs, i tried everything but it didnt seem to help. I still would do anything for her...
This song and albums like sempiternal, that's the spirit really helped throughout my adolescent years. I am 18 years old now and learning how to be an adult. Thanks bmth for being a part of my life.
This was the first BMTH song I had ever heard. (I know, late to the bloody party) The Sempiternal album got me through having my world turned upside down in a very traumatic and sudden way at the time (still helps to this day). I kept going and would have this blasting on my hour long trip to school back in 2013. I was on the train a handful of times and I actually fell asleep to BMTH blasting through my earphones 😄. It was so healing for me that I could even fall asleep while it played, when it should have definitely kept me the f awake lol. I will always love and appreciate BMTH. Before discovering BMTH I must have been living under a big arse rock 🪨 .
I'm also late to the party, dw you're not alone. I also fell asleep to this song, hopefully it heals me like it did you, considering tough shit is happening atm

This album deserves to be the number one metalcore album of the 2010s. This album carried us through so much in the 2010s, and yet still does in the 2020s. Can’t believe next year marks 10 years for this album. Feels like yesterday
@@beky2187 it released in 2013 but this style of music started in the mid-late 90s and peaked in the early-mid 2000s. Modern rock and metal is heavily influenced by Nirvana, Marilyn Manson and Korn. Further more yes I understand this is metalcore and it is a variation of metal. Metal is allowed to have clean singing as much as country music can either have a guitar or a banjo or both. Have a good day.
The depth of feelings that Oli put into this song is indescribable, I can feel as if I were in his shoes having to overcome all those problems with drugs and depression.
In a way I feel like this song describes how ketamine feels to a T. I mean seriously every single lyric and the entire instrumental captures how it feels so damn perfectly, and the title tops it off. If you've ever done ketamine it has an entirely new depth of meaning.
I know this is months after your comment and you may know already. If so I apologize. Ketamine is a dissociative so in high doses you literally escape and aren't yourself. It just detaches from reality. Literally feels like sleepwalking cause you aren't even yourself. That whole album feels like it's fueled by Ket but this song is a love letter to it.
Oliver has an incredible voice, such a great sound. Im sure others have said it but he reminds me of Chester who was also an incredible singer. Incredible talent.
I send a audio message to my boyfriend saying "hey do you know the name of this song: nanana nananan nana". (i murmured the song rhythm) And he gave me the name. I'm so happy I can add this to my playlist now.
The song that got me into metal for the very first time. Thank you BMTH, even tho I prefer something heavier than this now, like Kataklysm and the very old albums of Parkway Drive.
lol same i've found this song by mistake because I was searching for song named sleepwalking but from the other band. And the first thing I saw was this and I was like "hmmm that's so good let try something else from BMTH". Now I'm listening to Architects, bmth parkway drive, ADTR and more ;)
In the country where I live, with the conditions I have, your words and your feelings are really funny. Because you are very sensitive. My close friend was killed by the Iranian government with a bullet to his heart. Until the last 4 years, more than 8000 young people were tortured and killed. At the age of 18, I have not yet kissed the opposite sex, sexual relations have their place. All of us who live in Iran have a personality like the Joker. BTMH at the peak of their art.
God that first note takes me right back to the winters when I had depression. It's all just me and my memories. Our relationship with ourself is the most unique of any other. So many feelings and thoughts we will never convey. It feels like winter again listening to this.

Canta describe the feeling i have with this song. When I heard this song at the show I just started crying! Thank you bmth for this MASTERPIECE
Found this band yesterday because of a meme. They’re in my top 10 now and my opinion on metal has shifted completely.
Listen some their older stuff like first two albums
Yeah do listen to thier older stuffs... glad the Chad meme is bringing new fans 👌
Alternatively, don't listen to their older stuff. Even BMTH doesn't like their first two albums.
@@ericd.morgan2508 Bullshit. Their first two albums are fantastic
The first 4 album's are metal afterwards its just alternative/electronic hard rock I prefer Metalcore BMTH
Why do i feel that, the people in the comment section understand the feelings im going thru, more than my real friends? You guys have a great taste in music
Almost like, we all happen to be going through the same depressive issues as humans and have found a relatable outlet? (Sarcasm btw) keep strong and you got this ♥️

Music will always be there for you when you need it most. Stay strong, humans, as we move through this twisted, confusing thing called life. We can do this! Happiness is worth fighting for. Never forget that.
everytime i hear this song, it geniunely makes me cry, it’s my favorite song, it’s just so beautiful, i feel so powerful, i feel heard, i feel i’m not alone, i’ll forever love bring me the horizon for all the times they saved me with their music
I never get bored of listening to BMTH songs
Just too good. Best modern metal band in my opinion
People discovering BMTH now: They were heavy before like deathcore but later they explored new ways to express themselves. Their talent is not limited to a particular genre and therefore they are not going to limit themselves either.
Imran Sahir he damaged his voice because of his older music. Also a reason that they are changing genres abit
why doesn't anybody think about linkin park that way ?
@@sharoonaftab8894 there are people that are thinking this way, including me. Sadly many people doesnt seem to understand, we should support everything they want to do, if u really love them. Their older music will not be forgotten and still exist.
No this isnt the reason that he stopped screemo and this kind of music he damaged his voice in a level that made him not be able to sing like this or he will never be able again to sing anyways if he does thay
That*
When he said “SING IT!!” in 1:48 he made me feel like I’m part of this song. This music is truly a masterpiece I don’t think most non rock listeners would understand the emotion brings in this song
They'd be just hearing screams and noise
Same! Made me feel like we were singing for all the times we hadnt felt alive and we were gonna sing like there was not a thing to worry about
This song is just too good man, I have never been so glad to have discovered a band before.. these guys are special
After therapy in the recent years I've come to realize that this lyrics and music are almost a perfect representation of what an anxiety attack feels like.
i feel you my bro
May u find out the truth soon,u've been searchin; the thing that is haunting u inside.
This is, and will always be, the best BMTH song.
The house of the wolves?
Best Deathcore... Pray For Plagues. Best Metalcore... probably Antivist
Kinda agree, within the new stuff anyway.
1x1 is better
Think you're forgetting can you feel my heart
I used to listen to this song throughout the nights when I was in high school. Over 10 years later and I came to visit my town, I'm in the same bedroom and still listening to it during the night when my grandparents are asleep, it never gets boring! Masterpiece!

ANYONE???
My secrets are burning a hole through my heart
And my bones catch a fever
When it cuts you up this deep
It's hard to find a way to breathe
Your eyes are swallowing me
Mirrors start to whisper
Shadows start to sing
My skin's smothering me
Help me find a way to breathe
Time stood still
The way it did before
It's like I'm sleepwalking
Fell into another hole again
It's like I'm sleepwalking
I'm at the edge of the world
Where do I go from here?
Do I disappear?
Edge of the world
Should I sink or swim?
Or simply disappear?
Your eyes are swallowing me
Mirrors start to whisper
Shadows start to sing
My skin's smothering me
Help me find a way to breathe
Sing it!
Time stood still
The way it did before
It's like I'm sleepwalking
Fell into another hole again
It's like I'm sleepwalking
Wake up!
Take my hand and
Give me a reason to start again
Wake up!
Pull me out and
Give me a reason to start again
Time stands still

First time I saw these live, got my eye socket cracked open in a pit... on of my fondest mosh pit memories XD
Ironically it was to black and blue 🤣

the new generation thinks that Can You Feel My Heart is the best song, but this one is a masterpiece, it's been 10 years since Sempiternal came out and I cry listening to it, Bring Me The Horizon is a band that never loses its magic and its essence
and also the hospital for soul and shadow moises
10000000000000%!

i loved sempiternal, thats the spirit and ultimately post human survival horror, but anything newer from that i dont really like that much to be honest
There newer stuff I don't think is as good but still is really good

Well here we are. My girlfriend broke up with me just yesterday. She introduced me to the whole BMTH scene. This song somehow gives me closure.
I feel like sleepwalking...still can't believe this is happening and I feel like it will just go downward for me for some time. Just hope I wake up in time...right?
Its the first time I cried because of a girl. I hope she finds a person who can give her what I obviously couldn't. Hope she'll be happy. She's too good of a girl. Deserves it.
Well, don't torture yourself, is completely normal, you'll find someone better, you'll see.
victoreixon90 thanks man.
Crying over a girl isn't a fun time at all...
Altro zeAltropian Yeah :( if i could stop it i would but i simply can't... Every single bit reminds me of her...

This was the first BMTH song I had ever heard. (I know, late to the bloody party)
The Sempiternal album got me through having my world turned upside down in a very traumatic and sudden way at the time (still helps to this day).

One of my all time favorites to this day!!!
This album deserves to be the number one metalcore album of the 2010s. This album carried us through so much in the 2010s, and yet still does in the 2020s. Can’t believe next year marks 10 years for this album. Feels like yesterday
This is what makes this album so great, Sempiternal is a endless masterpiece.
Sempiternal straight up built a whole new generation of metalcore.
This entire music video has the full 2000’s vibe and I absolutely love it I miss the early 2000’s so much
its from 2013 bruh
Possibly one of the best songs ever made, ever.
As the years pass on by, this song keeps making more sense than ever.
Oliver has an incredible voice, such a great sound. Im sure others have said it but he reminds me of Chester who was also an incredible singer. Incredible talent.
