great video guys and lots of information , this is the second tank vid that iv watched that you both have done and to be honest i have found them to be a lot more enjoyable and informative then the ones that were done by so called professionals . 10 out of 10
Interesting thing about the Chaffee to me is that unlike other late and post WW2 vehicles like the Pershing is that it kept going with the old transmission and drive sprockets in the front linked to the engine(s) by driveshaft. Still don't know why old tanks used that setup, the driveshaft ends up making for a taller vehicle.
Nice video. Can I ask a question, if transmission selection lever is set to DRIVE and transfer unit levert is ser to HIGH what are upshifting speeds from 1st to 2nd speed gear, from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4 ?
Awesome video, guys, and an awesome tank! I think they should have just made this tank on a larger scale, with a 90 mm cannon and more armor, and we could have fielded this instead of the Pershing. Thank you to you Canadians, from America. By the way, though, the "bow" in "bow machine gun" is pronounced the same way as if you are "bowing" to the king, not like a bow on a package. It sounds like "wow" as opposed to "low."

Based on what I'm seeing this tank while smaller is about as able as the early shermans. It may be using the same gun and shells. By the time it shows up however the 76mm high velocity was becoming the norm and the Germans and Soviets were building bigger tougher tanks with more formidable guns. This tank would still have been well suited for backing up infantry against infantry.
Another point to make is its role as a light tank. The M24 would have left larger German and Soviet tanks to its larger US counter parts, and at roughly the same time the M24 was coming about the M26 Pershing was also entering service.
The gun one can fit is largely based on design. The M24 wasn't meant to fight medium/ heavy tanks, but rather was meant to take on light vehicles such as Halftracks, armored cars, light tanks, SPGs, etc. The 75mm M3 also has a very large HE shell to counter infantry making it a good infantry support tank.
75 mm is more efficient to deal with AT guns and infantry. The very reason most Shermans were equipped with a 75 mm. WW 2 tankers didn't want every tank to be a 76 mm high velocity.
They were using the hand crank the entire video, the electronic drive was much faster. Also most German tanks of the WW II period were strictly hand cranked until later model Pz IV and Panthers went into service. I couldn't imagine having to hand crank the turret to engage enemies, a bit stressful to say the least.
It's hard to do that in the beginning man, but look at their newer videos, relaxed and comfortable. You can watch early videos of any. now famous, TH-camr and see how uncomfortable they felt then and see them now.

Are you guys going to be starting up video's again at somepoint?
Best light tank of the war. It reminds me a lot of the Panzer III.
Sounds perfect

Man i wish I could go for a ride in this
I just can't stop thinking about Rodan 1956
Can Chaffee move with one engine only? I think it can.
Can’t believe that both engines combined are only 240 hp is that correct ?

Basically just an m18 hellcat with different body
A low velocity 75mm gun. There must have been someway to have given it a higher velocity gun.

wooow that torret is slow to turn around like all ww2 tanks. new generation tanks turn like human neck 😀😂😂

Pretty decent video but you guys need to relax and talk like you are just talking to a friend.

First video I have ever seen of theirs and I enjoyed it. Yes at first it is not easy to do for sure.
