It was meant to connect people but it’s divided people, with the help of the media, it’s got people comparing life’s, trying to out do each other, it ruins relationships when you in them, and it’s got every one thinking the grass is greener so relationships don’t last or even get going, social media has its benefits but the negatives out way the benefits

I can definitely see your point here. The question is also to what degree has it done good? Because there are millions who make their living using these platforms now and they employ people, add to the economy, and more.

@@travismakesfriends there’s that side which is great but most people don’t fall in that category, all I know is mental health is going through the roof and I do believe being disconnected from real people, a strong old school community and being online is driving the mental health epidemic

@@gregrodgers107 I agree! I’d like to see social being used more as the connection point and then being used to drive people to more in person connection again

Of course it is the predominant CAUSE of loneliness. Lockdown increased this 200% because the habits those ppl adopted to not talk to one another except through tech/not returning to work/conducting relationships online, have become cemented due to laziness.

I do think the habits are more of the concern than the method by which they are being distracted. If we eliminated social media, it wouldn’t solve the root problem I don’t think. We’d just find other distractions to feed the bad habits.
