That's what happens if you don't pack it properly. What was he thinking?

man most if not all of this blame is on the sender lmao. he only wrapped the sides. that front was doomed before it even got to the post office

No accountability for these companies that throw stuff around as they raise the prices up. They throw the stuff around laugh and giggle,I have seen it out by the post office outfront watching the employees work in the back area laughing at each other while they're tossing the items ,while the other employees are dropping the throws. They're dropping the boxes and letting them hit the ground and they think it's funny. I have seen them out in the open. Imagine when no one's looking. They always get the pass. I hear people say, you don't know how the job is you don't know all the stuff they deal with. I don't care - the prices are outrageous and they all don't give a rat's behind about the customer!🥺

At least it didnt have a "Fragile" label/sticker on it, because that actually translates to "When you are playing football with this package, be sure to kick this one extra hard a hundred more times"

Lots of padding around the unit but NOTHING around the front or back of the unit.

Had an rca golden throat radio arrive COMPLETELY destroyed, bakelite cabinet was in pieces, the guy who shipped it failed to properly package it and usps did what usps does and dropped it somewhere along the line. Thankfully I had gotten my money back, so was able to buy a different set (arrived intact this time) but was still burned about it, hopefully someone someday can repair the cabinet and repair the chassis.

That's too bad about the damage due to a combination of poor packing and rough handling. Imagine opening up the box and everything springs out like a jack-in-the box? I received a pair of heavy speakers a number of years ago that had the corners damaged due to improper packing. Was able to do the repairs but it'll never be original.

Over packaging and double boxing is the way to do it. Sure it will cost more but the package will arrive intact. I have a long time customer that sends meany dat decks and the amount of foam and bubble wrap they are in you could probably drive a fork lift over and they would be fine. One guy has sent me a few things wrapped up in heavy blankets. The padding probably weighed more then the equipment.

I believe I could make a replacement front pannle for it but it depends on the mold that I have if i still have it.

I have see this sort of damage and worse due to sending delicate items in.a flimsy box, bubble wrap only stops minor impacts, the only way is to double box, with plenty of packing between to two boxes.

I bought a 70s Tandberg recently FedEx to me and it was double boxed and the still managed to bend that frame. It had to be dropped 6 foot. Well ya wins some and ya lose some. Keep up the awesome vids.

I had a Playstation 2 fat breakdown on me once and I sent it back to Sony for repair and indoing so the place I sent it from the guy who packed it up and was taping the box up began to bang it on the counter on all sides after that experience I began to take my own electronic equipment apart and give them a good vacuuming out. Makes them last longer.

I little bit more bubble wrap would've gone a long way...
I found a Sony EV-C200 at an estate sale recently. I went on the first day to pick it up, and some kid grabbed it just before I figured out which cabinet it was dumped in. It didn't have a price tag on it or the VCR under it, so I figured he must have got it for a steal.
I came back on the last day and figured I'd look around again ... and there it was, this time with a $20 price tag on it. Was it broken? I tested it. It loads and unloads a tape just fine and plays perfectly ... wtf. I take it up to the lady and ask her what happned. He apparently only had $10 on him. What luck. Finally I can digitize all these old tapes.

UPS is just as bad. I sold a pioneer sx750 and I DOUBLE boxed it with tons of packing and it was destroyed in shipping. UPS refused to cover it, even though I paid extra for "insurance". tip, what they sell is not actually insurance, its the amount they will pay if they find THEMSELVES responsible, which of course they never do.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  ปีที่แล้ว

Correct. They don't pay. They leave stuff at the door. The driver takes a picture of it and then leaves. 5 minutes later someone walks up and steals the package and they're not responsible because they left it at your door even though you weren't home. Even when you have a sign that says do not leave packages at the door they still do it.

Football or not, this was insufficiently packed. People need to stop using the flimsy Amazon and corporate pennysaver boxes for shipping valuable items. Items need firm packing and at least a double-walled box, MINIMUM.

Flimsy packaging or not these people should be handling these things with more care and respect for other people's property and it wouldn't happen either.

I have a receiver ONKYO TX-DS656 that was beaten the same way and some of the boards was broken half but i restore it like new, no parts was broken just 1 resistor. You can bet Europeans know well what power grid you have and our power grid is older than yours (we are not that dump as you think) 230V save copper and have more benefits as standart and we have 3 phases (380V) in each block cooperation, and nope - 230V did not kill me (it knows me well :D) but when it bite it feels frustrating like someone punching you, and leave the feeling that you want to kick it back but you feel so enegized and nope - you can't and shouldn't hit back :D

It’s the packers fault that it is damaged. The face of the machine was up against the cardboard box with no cushioning.. ridiculous

  • @Capturing-Memories

Some people have no common sense when it comes to shipping a piece of a fragile hardware, One time a guy send me a desktop in a thin cardboard box with no bubble wrap at all, All the corners where round when it arrived, Freaking morons.
Here is how I ship my stuff, no matter how heavy or fragile, I put the appliance inside a plastic bag to cover it and put it inside a thick box that has at least 3" of space all around the appliance, the box has another plastic bag covering the inner walls of the carboard box, I put 4 cubes of Styrofoam underneath the appliance to position it in the center of the box, Spray foam underneath and around the appliance up the the top surface of the appliance, put a separating wall, usually a sheet of a plastic from a plastic bag and spray foam the remaining of the volume, close the outer plastic bag and close the box and tape it very excessively, Let the spray foam harden for two hours and ship it that way, When it gets to its destination, the box is opened, the outer plastic bag is pulled out from the box, the top layer of foam is lifted up, the remaining foam is cracked open and the appliance is extracted with its own plastic bag safe and sound.

I bet the traces that join the two sides are broken if there was that much stress to the control board - Aww DAVE What a awful shame this had to happen - and you have to report this back to the customer -Man!! -- Well next time the customer has to be extra careful - in that put the right stickers on the package saying FRAGILE /DO NOT DROP and like you said Over pack this with Styrofoam not chips of course but you get the point...I hope he gets a claim against his loss.

I have had a RCA scanner with the rear end kicked in by the post office I saved it but the frame was bent and the antenna connection pulled out of the circuit board I had to resolder and replace the antenna hook up wonder it didn't crack the main board I had a BIC 950 turntable that was completely destroyed by Yellow Freight when he handed Me the box I could hear the rattling and broken peaces inside the box he almost ran to his truck so I didn't have time to question him about possible damage I also had a DA88 like the type you worked on in your video a couple days ago the rack mount ears were smashed in on both sides and the capstan was rolling around in the inside of the unit the cassette box was also damaged and I made it worse by removing the side plate where the gears are to try and fix it I failed to note the timing of the gears so now it's really screwed I thought about sending it to you to fix but as you know those weigh a ton the shipping could break you and then they could throw it around and break it again no the work and the post office and shipping company's do not give one dam about the way they throw that stuff around ... I want to correct myself it was DHL Freight that destroyed the BIC turntable not Yellow Frieght sorry my mistake. ..

This sucks! I don’t like the delivery guy tosses stuff and nearly destroys it. Maybe someone should tell the USPS delivery guy to get fired.
Next time, tell the delivery guy to put the package by the door, not smashing the package.

Warning, pack your electronics very very good and over do it with the packing materials or your package will arrive trashed if you jest pack it with the minimum amount to protect it. This happened to me twice and the postal service will make you jump through hoops after hoops to file a claim and all you can do is hope they compensate you for your trashed item.

it just happened to me with a sony vcr i sold. i packed it in bubble wrap and foam. but when the customer received it they said it ate the first tape they put in it & they left a negative review without even contacting me first. so i asked if they could remove it as it wasn't my fault & the post office probably dropped it. customer said there was no outside damage. so it must be internal. i put clam in a few days ago and today it said denied damage not caused by post office.

Thats a shame, but packing it like shit has only one result, Badly damaged.
Double boxing with thick foam on all sides (no loose bits at all).
Senders need to go overboard so the item is in the middle with solid polystyrene glued inside.
Nothing can be allowed to move.
Box things as if it contained fragile glass.
The cost of packing it well is worth it.
    Thats my way of packing,

At best it will become an organ donor. I have another one sitting here that has been here for years due to a bitched repair attempt from the owner. If this one becomes a donor then I will try to get the other one going. All depends on if the owner of this one want to pay the return shipping to get the smashed unit back.
