    General d’Armee 2 is a great improvement on the 1st edition. Besides simplified firing and combat mechanisms there are many additions to scouting, logistics, game objectives and the role of commanders.

      I am already very excited. Unfortunately, I've only been able to see the first of the TFL videos.

    I’m done with warhammer but will write my own rules. For FOW I decided this summer to give version 4 a spin at HISTORICON, but for now like version 3 with some version 2 rules that were kept. I’m toying with the idea to do epic napoleonic but don’t want to until the line expands further. Great video. Looking forward to the next one.

      Thx. Yes, being able to play almost exclusively Waterloo is quite limiting. Iberia would be possible, too, but the auxiliary troops are missing there too.
      I also have the impression that some blindly follow new editions, others start to modify and adapt the old rules. Two ways to deal with it.🤔

    I see that you have a number of projects just like I do. I liked the look of your pike and shot regiment - very nice painting! My local gaming group plays Bataille Empire and enjoy the rules very much. I already have a Bretonnian Army from years ago that will need just a few updates. The starter box gives you 80 models so the cost per figure is a little over $3.00 US. For the rank and file figures there are a lot of cheaper alternatives. I think you could use a lot of figures from the Perry's 100 years war or War of Roses lines. There are also a lot of other figure lined that would work as well. Good luck with all of your projects.

      Thx. I can really use luck. 😄 Have you tried Battaile Empire 2 yet? In my opinion, I haven't played the first edition enough yet. 😉

    Some great progress on this update. Well done! As interesting as Old World is, I can't justify spending what they're asking. GW has priced me out of the game (too many other games on my plate). But, if you can stomach the cost, the Brettonians look fantastic!

      You're right. GdA2 has better chances to end on my desk. I will Decoder this weekend, because there's a presale bundle.

      I've got too many things on my plate. The one hex and counter game from the 1970s or '80s is a mess for this old man's head. So I am using Excel & typing a proper sequence of play with examples. 1.5 pages so far. GDW White Death.
      Got 15 mm native Americans (60) that need paint. Then there are 106 more 15 mm (elves n barbarians) that need cleaning, bases, n primer.
      And Prussians too. 28 mm.
      Again, Good looking figures.
      Be safe. Have fun.

    For Sharp Practice instead of the cards simply use ordinary playing cards.
    Kings & Queens of ❤ and ♦️ = Red flags
    Kings & Queens of ♠️ and ♣️ = Blue flags
    The great advantage is for bigger games, say 6 leaders a side or more, when you can just add Jacks (Buben or is it Knaben?) as extra flags which don’t count toward the 4-flag bonus turn.

    An interesting update. The Old World holds no fascination for me and us certainly well out if my price range. I have been thinking of Napoleonic in 10mm, but which rules?

    • @totalburnout5424
      @totalburnout5424  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh this depends... on what type of player you are. I've been thinking about making a "Which Napo rules for starting" video for a while, but wanted to evaluate the V&F option first.
      What other rules do you like? Would the academic answer be in a consultation and why?

    • @JackSargePainting
      @JackSargePainting 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For home tabletop Napoleonic games, I would prefer something that is bigger than a skirmish but not too large or abstract. I like to be able to see skirmishers deployed on the table and depict the various formations. The games that I have enjoyed the most are ones which have given a good narrative or story.

    • @totalburnout5424

      @@JackSargePainting Drums & Shakos Large Battle or a bit more complex General de Armee represent skirmishers well. They are even tactically important.
      A bit more modern, card driven, is Soldiers of Napoleon.
      Many games use skirmishers rather implicitly.

      I’m doing 10mm Napoleonics after selling off my 28mm collection following a house move. I was going to try them with Black Powder, but after watching the recent videos I have decided to give General d’Armee 2 a go.
      I’ll be playing solo,but I think I should be able to make it work.
      Of course I still have to finish the armies which are based on French and Austrian 1809.🤣

      @@theenigmaticgamer For solo players GdA is an ideal choice. The high level of inbuild uncertainty really helps.
