  • Hey All,
    Today I wanted to fill you in with how I care for and breed my apistogramma agassizii.
    These dwarf cichlids come in a few different colour varieties, have heaps of personality and are fairly easy to breed.
    Hope you enjoy.

    Came back from uni after a few weeks and found that my 2 apistos have bred in the community tank and have little fry swimming around. I dont mind if this first batch doesnt survive but i would like to try and raise them up. My question is, just leave them in the community tank and feed a generous amount of baby brine or move them into a growout tank? The fry are still very small only amount 3-4mm in size.
    Other than that, amazing video as usual and will be very helpful.
    Thanks

    • @BlakesAquatics

      Id move them. Even if they dont get eaten by other fish its better because you can more easily monitor their food intake

    Hi Blake! thank you for this video I have been waiting for some info on this specific species/strain. What is your TDS in a breeding tank, Gh? KH? thank you so much! what do you feed the fry? would vinegar eels work?

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Jonathan, to be honest I don't test any of those things, I have very soft tap water (ph 6.8, KH 0, GH 0). micro worms are a better fry food because theyll sink to the bottom where the babies are, vinegar eels will float to the top. good luck!

      @@BlakesAquatics Hi Blake, My apistos had an attempted spawn. The Female was showing her belly and trying to lure the male in to her cave, and the next day she was very protective and territorial. I removed the male because I am aware that she would get more aggressive if the spawn were successful.
      If the spawn was unsuccessful, how long would you recommend I wait before I reintroduce the male?
