    My dad grew up during the Cultural Revolution, he was 10 in 1966. Almost all of his memories of the period are fond, especially spending a month each year working in the countryside during high school. That's the kind of basic, yet creative and common sense action every society needs, a simple program that helps broaden the horizons and build appreciation for labor within all youth. After the Cultural Revolution, one of the more ridiculous criticisms people had raised as an excess of the Cultural Revolution was this, with some people who experienced it publishing essays and articles complaining about how harsh it was. These types of complaints are almost laughable, honestly ridiculously snotty and clearly from city kids who simply hated having to spend time in the countryside. In actuality this was a genuinely revolutionary educational reform that IMO is the reason why that generation of Chinese are the most economically successful, and the ones who actually really took use of market liberalization afterwards as well, compared to the generation that became adults right when liberalization happened. In a way they're like the Chinese anti-boomers

A mere 20 years with Mao and you completely changed literacy (10% to 80%), hugely improved healthcare with life expectancy doubling, and setting conditions for continued development after Mao. The initial steps are the most difficult.

      @Benjamin Franklin he did because of ignorance and his political ambition! first he forced everybody to be a farmer thats 500 million people! farm the soil till its nutrient bleach dry, the yield is bad due to over farming the soil, so he blamed the birds for eating all the crops. so he ordered the people to kill most of the birds, so the pest ate all the crops! and the corrupted officals also falsely report the food reservoir saying we got so much food, but in fact theres none. so the great famine hit during 1958-1961, approximate 50 million people die from famine, it was so desperate people have to cannibalize each other!!! communism failed, then he blamed the anti communism activist(the wealthy, high status, scholar, professor, doctor, estate owner)he encourage people to executes and incinerate them all, the lucky one get to be farmer. the girls in the middle, higher class were drag out of their homes, then raped, and robbed of their wealth. the doctors who refused to be a farmer were starved to death, so when people got sick no one can cure them! he turn families against one other, have them snitch on family member that is anti communism, so they can be execute. it was so wild at the end, even Mao couldn't control these mobs( yep thats the antifa,blm terrorist, and radical left we have today) !!

    • @HisMajestyGuigui
      @HisMajestyGuigui 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Mao didn't killed tens of thousands, they were killed by the last famine of China. The last famine. In a country that was plagued by regular famines that killed millions. Mao ended famines, increased the life expectancy (fastest increase ever) and the population doubled. Asking "how many people died because of Mao" is a dumb question, the correct question is "how many people owe their lives to Mao"

    • @HisMajestyGuigui
      @HisMajestyGuigui 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      When I look at China during Mao's era I look at a China that is indeed poorer (but it was much more poorer in 1949 than in 1976), but also as a China that is happier, where people actively participate in politics, where development in under the control of the masses, where corrupt politicians are punished, and where there IS growth! What Dengists did was to build on top of what Maoists did, without the groundwork of Maoists (infrastructure, rural enterprises, etc) the Chinese "economic miracle" wouldn't have been possible.
      In fact, GDP growth in the 70's was the long term affect of Maoist policies and would even have been faster if China kept Maoist policies : www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Chinas-GDP-Would-Grow-Faster-Under-Mao-Era-Policies-Study-20170714-0034.html
      So even the poverty argument is wrong because people would have been lifted out of poverty as a long term-effect of socialism. Guess why out of all these third world countries, the only that massively lifted people out of poverty was the one who had advanced socialism?

      额。。。我很怀疑文革时期表现出来的种种还是否还算的上真正的民主和自由,一定程度上就像日本军队南京大屠杀一样,借秩序的混乱释放人性的黑暗面而已,凡事无绝对,没有任何一点限制的自由最终也会反噬自身,或许你是由于现在所处的时代的某些不公平、不合理的现象感到失望,从而对文革时期抱有期待,(当然文革如果只从人们最初参加运动的初衷来说或许是好的,但最终事情的发展早就偏离了正常的轨道),有时候不恰当的想想,确实,曾经的所谓的当权者、权威倒在普通人的脚下,旧秩序被打破,文革给了多少人一飞冲天、实现阶层跃升的机会(比如张春桥),确实挺吸引人,但张春桥上海夺权,他们这些人上台原来的人就得下台 他们得到了工作 原来的人就得失去工作,这些被赶下台的人难道每个人都是所谓的走资派,党和国家的叛徒吗?有的人是在真正为人民服务,这样的人失去了工作,对他们来说这民主吗?我同意闻一多表达的少说多做的观点,有多少人高呼着动听的政治口号,说着冠冕堂皇的话 , 可不过是借助文革的混乱获得私利而已,这样的民主和自由是建立在伤害了很多无辜的人的基础上的,有时候也不怪其他人说中国这不好那不好的,俗话说苍蝇不叮无缝的蛋,就比如说民主选举还有多党协商这些,感觉都是流于形式,确实就是做的不咋地,还有什么工作、住房、医疗、教育、贫富差距等等,很多东西还需要改进,我想你既然都已经处在这样的时代了,不如按范仲淹说的:穷则独善其身,达则兼济天下,如果达时不想兼济天下那就当个逍遥派离开中国,去找你认为的桃花源,(希望能友好讨论,我虽然不同意你的观点,但尊重你说话的自由,国内评论区风气属实是不太好)

      Except that : bourgeoisie and revisionism are real things, they're scientific concepts in a scientific worldview while Jewish Bolsheviks is a conspiracy theory; Nazis didn't fought for German workers, in fact their share of German economy decreased while the capitalist share increased, the Nazis banned trade unions and invented privatization, while Maoist China fought for the peasants and improved their lives; and red guards isn't comparable to Hitler's youth or stormtroopers given that it was a quasi-spontaneous movement with no central organization, with some groups even disagreeing with each others, it proves that red guards actually thought for themselves with their brains, they were not brainwashed like Nazis.
      And Mao said "There is chaos under heaven, the situation is excellent". His conception of socialism was the idea of a society in a constant revolution, constantly changing. Doesn't sounds like a Nazi loving order to me.

      X and Y are basically the same thing, just replace every core principle of Y with X and there you have it.

      That’s absolute bullshit. Mao was not a racist and never targeted innocent people. The rich parasites are not innocent.

      The Nazis did not write dazibao and did not allow to criticize and did not engage in self-criticism, unlike the Communists.
