@@dbo4506 having cramps is not like having a random flat on the bike. It is likely due to nutrition/hydration, overpacing, how you deal with the climate etc. It's part of the game and people have good, meh and bad days.
Can’t believe what happened in this race. So amazing, so many things happening just awesome to watch. I never thought I’ll see Fradeno win this race, but he truly was the best in that race
He went from writing off Jan and saying he wasn’t the GOAT to at the end of the broadcast saying if Jan wins in Nice it would be amazing….. like dude can you just let the guy race…. Jesus. He just won the race you gave him no chance at.
Feel sorry for KB. Was set to be a win for him after a brilliant swim and bike. Had to stop or jog so many times for cramps and he still finished close to the front. Hope he sorts this out. At least he knows now that he is in good shape to win. Lots of athletes go through this at times in their career. Brett Robinson the Australian Marathon record holder had a similar issue which he was able to resolve.
Idk if you know this but pacing to fast can show up in more than just HR getting to high. Secondly Jan looked extremely comfortable the entire race. You can speculate all you want but it wouldn’t have been an “easy win”
Not sure the bike was that great, clearly needs work on TT bike and positioning to eradicate cramps. Really needed to have pushed harder to try and break Jan for the run. After having a stellar 2022, KB hasn't been able to find the winning formula at any distance
Did we watch different races? There was almost no information during the swim, more than half of the cycling was just a shot of the first rider from the side, completely failing to explain the groups and everything going on behind, and while the run was definitely best, they missed the deciding fight between Jason and Kristian, only showing the outcome. I found myself staring at the live timing for quite some time to get a decent understanding of the race.

Coverage for these is getting better and better each race. Only thing to add I think is more coverage of those further down in field as a lot of fans are still very interested in how those battles are playing out
Am I the only one who finds Jack Kelly’s “know it all” commentating style annoying. Most things that he kept predicting throughout the race turn out to be wrong.

In those two interviews PTO did with Frodeno and Blu, it seemed like Frodeno really cares about a rivalry/beating Blu and Blu really didnt show any interest. I wish whoever is manufacturing this would just stop. Triathlon is amazing without the trash talk that other sports have. Both are amazing athletes. Dont need a “rivalry”. Great race today. Loose handlebars and cramps separated 1st, 2nd and 3rd by less than a minute. Next races will be awesome!
Man this guy who was doing commentary started off okay and really went off the rails... By the end I considered muting the stream because of him. Sounded like that friend who constantly wants to pretend they are saying something smart but just makes stuff up the entire time. I'd have to go back and count the amount of times he either called the race for someone, called someone "done", or brutally critiqued someone race with authority only to backpedal before the end of the race.
Agree, great event and video coverage. However, as feedback, there were too many sensationalist in-race predictions that changed constantly like people fretting over minor stock market movements: - Frodeno is falling back on the bike and cant keep up due to age - This was the day for Blummenfelt - Magnus will not make a move on the bike and stay behind Kristian - Frodeno had a horrible T1 - Eg Pro Triathlon is such an individual and unpredictable sport due to training loads, health, travel stress, life stress, race dynamics, individual tactics, experience, fueling, perceived motivation and even luck. Hence, it makes no sense to predict podiums, frame head to head battles and fret over minor indications of athletes. The race is only over when its over ;)
He was absolutely useless, wish I could mute him, completely clueless about elite racing and out of his depth as a commentator. Needs to stick to podcasts
As someone who came into the sport a couple years ago, I’ve had to take everyone at their word that Jan is the GOAT. After watching his performance today, I get it.
Miranda said in commentary that drafting rules were relaxed on the dead stop corners and Jan was technically the best through those corners. Head referee took the swim skin from Jan, otherwise Jan said he was going to stuff it down his suit. If you watched, KB lost a bottle coming into T2 and didn't get a littering penalty either. Personally I'm happy that commonsense is applied to penalties, silly to punish these guys racing for their livelihood over minor issues

Lionel…having your 8th existential crisis of your career. They can win any event that those top 6 aren’t in…but they aren’t beating them straight up. Fun place for the sport these days.
