The close up of Song Kang-ho in the ending of Memories of Murder is easily of one my favorite shots of all time. It's sad, haunting and beautiful. I get chills every time I see it.

fun fact, the director said this was a message to the real killer behind the story, even if he dont face justice, he will have to face his own demons, he wanted this to be said if the killer go to the theatre see a film litterally about him

When people were telling me Parasite was a perfect film, I was apprehensive about seeing it because Memories of Murder is my favourite film of all time. I came out of Parasite feeling like it was absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change a thing but STILL, I have to put Memories as his best.

South Korea has a lot of beautiful and serene environment, which make Bong Joon Ho's movies all the more beautiful and terrifying once the dark twists start.
That last scene from Memories of Murder still terrifies me up to this day.

the opening and the last scene of 'mother' is pure art.
I saw mother in a theatre, and at the first scene Kim hye-ja dancing, some people in the theatre even chuckled. But at the last scene, nobody did.
One thing I've learned about Bong is he knows how to end a film. The endings to Memories of Murder, Parasite, and Mother are some of my favorite film endings of all time

parasite was actually the film that broke that barrier for me. that movie opened the floodgates and introduced me to a whole new world of cinema.
Parasite rightfully brought more appreciation for this great director.
The beauty of Park Chan Wook next would be brilliant...I really love the way you edit understanding the unique style of each director and all of your videos are literally love letters to cinema itself....Keep up the good work mate!!!

Memories of Murder is my favorite movie to have come out of Korea. You watch it and know you're seeing a master at work.

this is such a great video but im kinda disappointed the scene from parasite where she blows on the peach isnt here, or even the one where ki jung's sitting on top of that toilet with a cigarette

The way he makes art, is just pleasurable.
The way he plays with the lighting and how he uses it for story telling is impressive.

I would love to see The beauty of the Hours some day, such an incredible movie! And i think the cinematography in this movie is actually quite poetic and dramatic without feeling forced or over the top! Very underrated in terms of camera work i think ;)

PARASITE is Perfection.The first South Korean movie I watched. If you rule out SNOWPIERCER as a wholehearted South Korean film.
But, MEMORIES OF MURDER made me develop a feel that no other film could. And that's my favorite MOVIE.(The close were The Chaser, Oldboy, Oasis,Secret Sunshine,Mother (in that way))

@Alp Güler thank you for a very good and well thought out response. You’ve actually made me realise some flaws in the film I hadn’t really thought of before, though I still do like the film. Again I respect your opinion. Also I agree Parasite is much better but I think I’ve gained a somewhat unhealthy obsession with that film😂😂
