    This video is so helpful! My back was killing me doing these and I knew I was lifting with my back instead of pulling up with my outer leg and glute. Thanks a ton!

    we did this a lot in volleyball to strech out as a regression to a lateral dive or roll. works great because with bad forward form will never allow moving on into the deeper defensive movements.

    Thanks guys! Covid I’ve been working out at home and been struggling with this move. Integrating the KB and bracing with the free hand has really improved my movement and what I’m getting out of this exercise. Well done and thanks!
    ps. Agree with the comment on the locker talk. Distracts from your great coaching.

      I think that's why so many ppl over look lunges. It's a good exercise, but you cant get the overload with lunges like you can with squats. But, I always feel sore after lunges.

  • @lisazystro5343
    @lisazystro5343 4 ปีที่แล้ว +52

    I thought your breakdown of the lunge was really great and helpful. Please consider that your references to "good girl bad girl" and "good rack" are alienating to a large portion of people who could benefit from your tips. Please consider leaving references like that out of your videos if you want to be more welcoming to women.

      Sure, it was a thinly veiled reference to the female anatomy, but isn't biological attraction required for the survival of our species? Don't be so fragile. Have a thick skin. You can't be a strong and independent woman while also emotionally wrapping yourself in a bubble wrap safe space.

    Did they mean "abductors" or "adductors"? I'd guess this movement targets the adductors (inner thigh muscles, closing the legs), rather than the abductors (separating the legs). It does require stepping to the side, abduction, but the resistance seems to come mostly on the way back in.

    From looking at this video, I find the version of the side lunge exercise where you lift the kettle bell with your hand in a goblet form from the foot that made the lunge to be a very risky and dangerous exercise to do. You could easily get wrist injuries if you don't lift the kettle bell properly and gets away from your center of gravity. For the guy who said in this video who really cares about form, you are really wasting your time mingling with those two meatheads. You could easily lose your balance and your form in lifting the kettle bell from the floor as you come up from the lunge especially when using heavier kettle bells. There are other side lunge exercises with weights that are more safer and give better results than that version. The only benefit that I can find in doing this version of the side lunge exercise is if you want to show off to some bimbo-headed hot girls in the gym how much of a flashy and flamboyant exercise freak you are.

      Your concerns can be addressed by following the progressions demonstrated. When loading, start light and only increase resistance once you mastered the previous level.
