    I'm quite tall - 187 cm having similar restrictions in ankle mobility. Normally I squat putting little plates (1,25 kg) under heels. I'm gonna try those exercises to see how it works, thanks for clear and short video!

  • @crazyb3fan
    @crazyb3fan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I'm a short person and I still nee the ankle mobility big time. First one is great. For the second one I'm going to throw a super band around my hips attached to a doorway down low to give me an assist until the point where I don't need it anymore. Thanks guys!

    I can't wait to see what happens after trying these mobility exercises for awhile. My hunch is they're going to completely change my life and the way I move in my body. That sounds like an exaggeration unless you realize that I only have about 90 degrees of dorsiflexion. In the morning I have to force my ankles just to stand up. Most ankle mobility exercises focus on things that aren't a problem for me. Finding this video made my day...Maybe my month.

    Great video. I always avoided squatting because of my poor ankle mobility. I'm now determined to fix it! My question is when doing the circles in the squat position, should you only do this when your heels are able to be flat on the ground? Or can you do it when your heels are raised?

    • @TCt83067695
      @TCt83067695 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say flat on the ground. The stretch is for better mobility when squating with weight and we really shouldn't be squating in heels 😁
      Bad for the knees

    Great video as always from the MP crew. If you guys could make a video depicting ankle mobility exercises and strengthing that would be amazing. I suffer from alot of ankle injuries and all people keep telling me is once your ankle sprains its never as strong as it once was. For once i would love to come back stronger from these injuries.

    So if I can't get sit down into the squat with heels down do I just sit in the squat with my heels up? How long should i stay in the position each time i try this? By just sitting like that will my heals eventually get to the ground? Hope this made sense. I have terrible ankle mobility since I broke my ankle in 2015 and I'm not really sure that I'll ever get it back. any advice is really appreciated

    I’m 6ft and my ankle mobility is trash. I’ve been wearing Chucks on leg day thinking the flat sole will keep my feet planted firm to the ground . But I will try these… I definitely feel the fire in my shins when I squat for long periods (ex while rummaging through a bottom kitchen cabinet)

      manamana122 yes I have something for this . It's "probably" from a lack of connectivity . I have some moves for u to do in the 90/90 that will help . For now side plank leg lifts should help a bit . DISCLAIMER : always consult a Dr. First when experiencing pain

    • @manamana122
      @manamana122 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adam Schafer Hey Adam, I've tried the side plank leg lifts, and what I found is I can pump out about 5 reps with my "good" side, but on my painful hip side I can hardly raise my leg an inch, any suggestions or ideas on what might be wrong? Also what is the 90/90? Thanks!

    • @toooooooooooooooooooooooooooom
      @toooooooooooooooooooooooooooom 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am 2 years late but for you and others who read this. You most likely have anterior pelvic tilt which shortens the space between your acetabulum and the femoral head causing like sharp pain in the front of your hip. You can test if this is the case by squatting normally but before that try to adjust your lower back to not arch so that it will be perfectly neutral then try it again, most likely all the pain went away because now your acetabulum and femoral head are not touching.

    Great video guys thank you. I have been having ankle clicking going on and I can tell my hip and ankle are super tight but most of the exercises I have tried haven't been helping too much. Definitely going to give this a try. I would also highly recommend a resistance band loop around both feet and lifting your foot up and put away from your other foot. This has really helped me strengthen the tibialis anterior. All the best to you guys!
