I had a look around hull #1 with the three cabin layout. The fwd 'head'.... Its more of a full shower room and was amazing. Boat has a very calm and nice feel we when below decks very tranquil and relaxing. ⛵⛵⛵👌👌👌👌 It would be a nice progression from my impression 384.

Wow, the volume is really impressive. And it's good-looking as well.

I love this boat, but only thing that bothers me is this galley, which has no place to brace yourself.

Reminds me of a Maine cabin with Knotted Pine everywhere. It's not Pine, but still. I'm not sure. I wouldn't be ungrateful if someone gave me one. I'm also iffy about the galley, but they are not uncommon. I don' think this is the kind of boat where you're cooking on a long passage. How long does it take to skip from one Greek Island to another. For that matter now long does it take to cross The Channel?

Are these fine new sailboats, Orca proof?

    Knotted oak looks less sterile.

Was looking forward to buying an Elan Impression, it frankly the Linear Galley, has further compounded the Reasons they totally fell off the top of my likely next Boat Purchase list, due to no longer having a sensible Shallow Draft available, and the idiots have shoved bloody Twin Rudders on everything. Try Sailing down for example down the East Coast of the USA, through all those fields of Crab and Lobster Pots with twin rudders, and see how fast they’re ripped off the boat ! Then to add insult to injury, you can’t even use the ICW, due to the Draft ? You have to ask, given the Impression Range is supposed to be the Cruising Range , does Anyone at Elan Yachts even have a bloody Clue about Cruising ? I really thought they were better than this. Thankfully I have found a Boat Builder that still builds Sane Cruising Boats but they’re Not in Europe. Sorry for the Rant, but Things have gone Way Beyond a Joke, and tbh, Boating Journalists need to start being a damned sight more concerned about the interests of their Readers, and a lot ,less concerned about freebies from Boat Builders imho.Too much Cutting slack Slack for Racing Sailboats and the Minority that are Racing the bloody things imho.Enough Already. 😡

Buy a 434 or 444 then ..... New boats follow different design philosophies. But they still built what they intended to very well, and fit and finish is very nice. I have been on hull #1 of the i43s so talking from real world experience. But if it doesn't suit your needs...don't slate them for not building your perfect boat seems a little unreasonable. I think if you lost both rudders to crab pots...it says more about the skipper than the boat.... 🦀🦀🦀🦀😂. Happy sailing👌👍 also Elan can make things to a customers requirements. I know of a GT6 that had a custom rear cabin done.

I also tend to think that European Yacht builders don't really care about the US market. They are built for the Med, if they work somewhere else that's nice.

@@drewr34skyline18 I think the Crab Pot issue is valid. The US has a lot more active fisheries than the Med but European builders work for a Med based market so they don't consider it an issue. This boat is optimized for the light winds and deep waters of the Med.

@@drewr34skyline18 You've not sailed through Pot City Central all down the American East Coast Have you. tbh, I was thinking of buying a 434, but customising it to what I need, would end up costing a hell of a lot more than having it Built into a New Boat, But Elan just don't make Sensible Cruising Boats any longer. Drafts have gone way too deep, and Twin rudders don't just get easily ripped off boats by Pots. Elan Used to do things Properly, but Now They don't, and that demands Serious and Justified Criticism. Of you like what they're doing, then you Chick your Money at Them, but don't expect ruisers like me, as frankly, as their Cruising Range of Boats WAS called Impression, that name is now a misrepresentation as it no longer Complies DOES IT ! 😡

@@brownnoise357 I disagree, they still laminate in sections of the grid to the hull. The gt6 is an amazing boat to sail. I have an impression 384 and live on it 6 months of the year. A 434 is maybe €130k an new impression is €390k... For over a quarter of a million you could refit a 434 to be a very high spec cruising boat. Seems you don't like Elan now each to their own. Maybe look at the RM boats they have all the keel options and ruder options.... And any colour you can think of. It seems odd to want to sail through crab pots. I don't understand why a single rudder is any more resistant to being 'ripped off' that a twin set up. If it's caught on the rudder then the position of said rudder makes little difference.. surely the construction of the rudder and rudder supporting structures are what make the difference at that point in time. But it's not a very useful narrative to evaluate the new impression based solely on rudder positions and a linear gallery that they will add supports to if owners want custom layout tweeks. I'd go 434 and modernise it as it seems to suit your requirements. Boats are like cars people all have they personal taste. Seems the i43 isn't to your taste but having been one one... It is a very nice and well suited cruising boat. Happy boat hunting buddy would be cool to hear what you choose/have chosen fair winds

Yeah, not a fan of the wood texture. I hope they offer different textures for the interior.
