The reason I used to look at the ground when I started playing CSGO was because of COD4 promod. You had the ability to "duck" or "bend" your player with the head down (while running) in order to avoid head shots or being seen crossing over to a particular area.
Keeping the crosshair to the ground as u move is actually pretty common for newer players in pretty much every shooter, I think it's to be aware of where you're walking so you don't run into anything, kinda like how some people (usually kids, I did it all the time) look towards the ground when they walk around irl so they don't trip over something. It's just a habit I guess.
I think players look down a lot is to compensate recoil, since they might not be able to spray control, the other solution is to look down and have recoil push down I believe. At least this is what my silver and gn friends tell me.

I remember back in the day when I played Minecraft with my friends and we played that game where everyone is villager in a city full of villagers and you are supposed to stay in cover. And kind of a "pro start" was to look for villagers who's heads were tilted a bit down, and it was true! People most of the time look at the ground in all video games

The problem I have with "always aim at head level" is that people can crouch. So you're not always going to be shooting them in the head. Like, think of it this way, I've ducked AWP shots before. People aim for the head, and I anticipate them firing. As soon as I think they're going to fire, I crouch. Action is faster than reaction.
The head level part to some extent, there heads will still be on the same level, but the "where an enemy might be" part not so much, as others said, people just rush without thinking....

6:54 here's a n00b tip from me the n00b to other n00bs: If you're getting absolutely dominated by the other team, suggest the dumbest strat for 1 round to counter their smartness. This works from first-hand experience. Genius beats stupid, but EXTRA-stupid at least has a fighting chance against genius.
As someone that used to play Call of Duty a lot and still has respect for the older games, I think that looking at the ground is to clearly see what's ahead of you without your gun being in the way. That's why I did it at least.
When I started csgo in 2016, I watched all warowl video., Loved it, learnt from it. It's 2020 now, once in a while I play csgo now. But from this I went to eagle ranks. I still watch warowl tho but miss the noob academy videos. Time flies. I wonder what will happen to this video & world in 10-20 years.
this is such a 1.6 (2006/7) stater pack, i mean, all this tutorials makes it easy for nowdays CoD kids who wants to be ScreaM or any pro guy..back in 1.6/5 we used to go internet/game cafe to play lan with older guys(30+yrs old) thats how we learn these "skils"
I tend to point my gun downwards because in most games I've played, the gun takes up a lot of my view. Especially if I'm using something like a sniper rifle. The scope, when I'm not looking through it, would block my vision of players far off running by.

As for the looking down thing, It might be that people subconsciously view the cross-hair as an obstacle and are instinctively trying to get it out of the way. Yo that stuff about playing against players who are better than you is so true. People always complain about smurfs ruining solo queue in games like CSGO, but playing with or against a smurf is the best time to improve. Raccoon yeah it is a pressure sensitive button so it activates the hax whenever he lifts the mouse... So after all he really is just lifting his mouse more often than others.
I think its the sensitivity that usually new players are set at. I was set at 6, and was doing terrible, complaining about trying to shoot the head. I usually kept it mid to low so that when I flew up, I didn't overshoot. As well as, I was always in instinct. I never really was thinking about my cross hairs and where I can place them, how to check this and that corner with sweeping etc. I don't know if you have a sensitivity video, but I set mine to around 1.8 and then focused completely at not looking at walls and used the sights in front of me rather than the sides. Worked out well.
RockLegend2 Mainly figuring out where players are in the map after the game's started. While I usually top-frag (quick reflexes), I'm often surprised by enemies popping around corners I didn't expect them to be in. =/

While half of the responsibility of that is on your team to determine their locations, spacial reasoning comes into play, as well, to figure out exactly, or, at least, relatively, where the enemy will be at a given time in relation to where they were. So make sure you call out locations and try to get your team to perform callouts, as well, if they don't to begin with. Another quick note is, if you're uncertain about enemy locations and need a general idea, just ask, "Where are they?" Don't use their advice as concrete, though, because it's all relative information. Just remember to check those places. The final part to explain, and the most difficult part, is that you have to expect one of two things: 1) They will be in a common spot, whether by force of habit, purpose, or accident. 2) They will be in an uncommon spot on purpose. You will always run across enemies who will hid in strange corners, hard-to-see places, and even inside of smokes. And it's all to mess with your head. They purposefully buck the meta to trick their opponents and get some frags. It's difficult to explain my personal understanding of probability and predictability, but the simplification is similar to Murphy's Law, "If something can go wrong, it will." Just try to think of both the most meta and the most unlikely things your enemy can do and play on that information. I apologize if that's not quite sufficient enough, but I can promise you that game sense DOES come, and it IS a powerful tool. I have 362 hours in the game, but I have a better game sense than most of my similarly-ranked friends. Game sense is so powerful that, when you begin to find yourself against equally-skilled opponents, using your head instead of your body is what will turn the tide of battle.
So what about close range battle, where the enemy might crouch down and i will have to adjust my crosshair , so do i have to put my crosshair on their head or on their body ?

The looking down is just to see more in general you see less of the sky true, but the gun is also not blocking anything not that that little bit of more vision would be advantageous
as you said in that video: for players, that are used to play cs go and feel confident with putting their crosshair whereever its needed, its hard to play against new players. thats why i think playing at lower ranks can be quite hard: nothings against new players, we all started like one, but its hard to counter a new player using his loved p90 and pushing through the world. this can probably make you lose against people with less skill with you and make you blame yourself for "bad aim" or anything like that. thats what i dont like about playing on low ranks and what makes it hard to proceed with your rank when you're playing at low ranks. (sorry for me making mistakes, i'm german, hope you dont mind about these spelling mistakes) ans, dear warowl: i liked that video.
I think the aiming at the floor thing might be instinct from Halo, because in the earlier halo games the crosshair wasn't centered on your screen. It was a bit lower so if you wanted to see anyone in front of you you had to look at the floor while you moved.
I think that looking down comes from the fact that the weapon models in most games (CS included) are so ridiculously huge that people automatically look down just to have more screen real estate dedicated to what is actually in front of their character. I used to do that in other games before I tried (briefly) to make videos for youtube. I realized I kept looking down and trying to snap my aim up unnaturally. after that, I decided to turn off view models in any game that would let me, and set up scripts in tf2 that let me only have view models for my melee weapons, since it's good to know when you have the escape plan, GRU, or basher out so you don't die horribly.
Studying esport pro player's brain with MRI while they're playing could help a lot to understand reflexes I think ! Just by looking at WarOwl's instictive movements that surprises even himself, I think there's a lot to discover still in this field.
the crosshair placement to the ground is a crosshair placement, usually because you need to see your surroundings as well as directly infront of you, its hard to place your crosshair at head level in cod due to the controller
The reason humans like to look down... Our heads rest slightly downward at 15* . So in game, we naturally look down so you don't feel weird

My problem is that i sometimes miss the headshot. If the enemy is not dead i just pull down after to try and get some body shots

flusha mouse lifting wallhax confirmed!
Raccoon yeah it is a pressure sensitive button so it activates the hax whenever he lifts the mouse... So after all he really is just lifting his mouse more often than others.
I think its the sensitivity that usually new players are set at. I was set at 6, and was doing terrible, complaining about trying to shoot the head. I usually kept it mid to low so that when I flew up, I didn't overshoot. As well as, I was always in instinct. I never really was thinking about my cross hairs and where I can place them, how to check this and that corner with sweeping etc. I don't know if you have a sensitivity video, but I set mine to around 1.8 and then focused completely at not looking at walls and used the sights in front of me rather than the sides. Worked out well.
685 hours in-game and I still have no game sense. >.
What do you find yourself struggling with?
RockLegend2 Mainly figuring out where players are in the map after the game's started. While I usually top-frag (quick reflexes), I'm often surprised by enemies popping around corners I didn't expect them to be in. =/

Tricky. While half of the responsibility of that is on your team to determine their locations, spacial reasoning comes into play, as well, to figure out exactly, or, at least, relatively, where the enemy will be at a given time in relation to where they were. So make sure you call out locations and try to get your team to perform callouts, as well, if they don't to begin with.
Another quick note is, if you're uncertain about enemy locations and need a general idea, just ask, "Where are they?" Don't use their advice as concrete, though, because it's all relative information. Just remember to check those places.
The final part to explain, and the most difficult part, is that you have to expect one of two things:
1) They will be in a common spot, whether by force of habit, purpose, or accident.
2) They will be in an uncommon spot on purpose.
You will always run across enemies who will hid in strange corners, hard-to-see places, and even inside of smokes. And it's all to mess with your head. They purposefully buck the meta to trick their opponents and get some frags. It's difficult to explain my personal understanding of probability and predictability, but the simplification is similar to Murphy's Law, "If something can go wrong, it will." Just try to think of both the most meta and the most unlikely things your enemy can do and play on that information.
I apologize if that's not quite sufficient enough, but I can promise you that game sense DOES come, and it IS a powerful tool. I have 362 hours in the game, but I have a better game sense than most of my similarly-ranked friends. Game sense is so powerful that, when you begin to find yourself against equally-skilled opponents, using your head instead of your body is what will turn the tide of battle.

I started watching your videos when i was S1 and since, i have worked my way to S4 with only 1 derank. (S2 down to S1) Your crosshair video and anxiety videos are what did it for me. I am extremely grateful for your videos and I just wanted to say, thank you. As a youngster, playing CS is hard enough with the community being pretty shitty towards younger players. not that that little bit of more vision would be advantageous
as you said in that video: for players, that are used to play cs go and feel confident with putting their crosshair whereever its needed, its hard to play against new players. thats why i think playing at lower ranks can be quite hard: nothings against new players, we all started like one, but its hard to counter a new player using his loved p90 and pushing through the world. this can probably make you lose against people with less skill with you and make you blame yourself for "bad aim" or anything like that. thats what i dont like about playing on low ranks and what makes it hard to proceed with your rank when you're playing at low ranks.

I think the aiming at the floor thing might be instinct from Halo, because in the earlier halo games the crosshair wasn't centered on your screen. It was a bit lower so if you wanted to see anyone in front of you you had to look at the floor while you moved.
I think that looking down comes from the fact that the weapon models in most games (CS included) are so ridiculously huge that people automatically look down just to have more screen real estate dedicated to what is actually in front of their character. I used to do that in other games before I tried (briefly) to make videos for youtube. I realized I kept looking down and trying to snap my aim up unnaturally. after that, I decided to turn off view models in any game that would let me, and set up scripts in tf2 that let me only have view models for my melee weapons, since it's good to know when you have the escape plan, GRU, or basher out so you don't die horribly.

Studying esport pro player's brain with MRI while they're playing could help a lot to understand reflexes I think ! Just by looking at WarOwl's instictive movements that surprises even himself, I think there's a lot to discover still in this field.

the crosshair placement to the ground is a crosshair placement, usually because you need to see your surroundings as well as directly infront of you, its hard to place your crosshair at head level in cod due to the controller
