    Gotta catch up on your last couple videos... we got slammed by Helene here in the NC mountains... got some primitive living practice for a week+ ... some great roads are destroyed! How close was Milton to you?

      Damn, hope you're doing OK now. The eye of Milton went right over us. Some neighborhoods are still clearing debris. But for the most part, we're back to normal.

    super clean? ;) lifter tick is my e46's middle name, haha

      When the engine warms up, the lifter tick goes away. So I keep telling myself it's ok for now. 😛

    A bit surprised you didn’t go ahead and install a bung in that…ahem, “Super Clean” oil pan….for your future turbo oil return line.

    • @michaelblacktree
      @michaelblacktree  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm probably going to use a scavenge pump for the turbo.

    Is there no need to plasti-guage for the bearings?

    • @michaelblacktree
      @michaelblacktree  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not in this case. We're using stock replacement bearings on a stock crankshaft. But if the crank was reground, then absolutely.

    did you already replace the main bearings? just wondering why not replace em along with the rod bearings if you are already in that deep?

    • @michaelblacktree
      @michaelblacktree  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Replacing the main bearings with the engine in the car is a hassle. Plus it's expensive. I decided it's not worth it. Maybe sometime in the future, I will pull out the engine and do a more thorough refresh.

      @@michaelblacktree 50'skid and other people say you can re-use main cap bolts. Plus ive done a junkyard rebuilds and used aliexpress bearings. Not saying you should do that hahaha, although just thought I would put it out there

      @@anthonysamaha3760 you were able to install the main bearing with the crank still installed? I've seen someone use a small bolt in the oil passage on the crank to "spin" the top bearing down to remove it, it was on a different engine tho. I'm curious how you'd get the top bearing out without damaging anything and removing the crank.

      @@justfasial01No, you can't change main cap bearings without removing the crank.
