The lesson I’m learning from this video is even if you miss or resist a campaign and regret it later, you can probably still get your hands on the game. So ignore the FOMO.
@@DJ-mz7td i would rather pay more for a game that i know I will enjoy. You have plenty of risk purchasing a game on a crowd funding platform. If you wait till retail, you miss out on exclusives, but at least you’ll know you really want the game instead of purchasing for the spectacular extras.
I feel like I’ve paid less. Many kickstarters are charging the same as a store, so are making more profit per backer. But a store will have discounts very often that I haven’t seen from manufacturers.

I did back 5 of these and am happiest about backing Isofarian Guard. They have added so much to it that the cost to get it now is much greater, plus it is the game I'm waiting on that I'm most excited for. I wish I had backed The Great Wall.
The story and miniatures for solomon kane are awesome. The way how your path works through the story eventhough you make a "wrong" choice sometimes is also very refreshing.
There is a lot of fun to be had with Solomon Kane. It would work well for you Alex since it is shorter scenarios without a overlapping narrative. And great, great minis. Very curious about Isofarian Guards and, if able, will probably have to get down the road.
Completely with you on Frosthaven for the exact same reasons. The only reason I don't regret my decision more, is I know I'll get value out of whatever I end up paying for it
Mine is Zombicide: Black Plague. I was aware of Zombicide, and have friend who liked the original. But I'm also not a fan of zombies in general. I saw BP, and was like 'interesting, but I don't need it'. Then my friend got it. And I got to play it. And I went all in on Green Horde. And I started trying to get BP. The base game and Wulfsberg expansion were easy enough to get. But I am still trying to track down some of the other KS exclusive content. And a lot of what I was able to get I paid through the proverbial nose for.
Nice list! I could see this turning into a yearly wrap-up video as there are just so many campaigns these days... My three were Dwellings of Eldervale, Roll Player Adventures and Destinies. Luckily, for all of them, there was some really good early buzz as the kickstarters dropped and I was able to get all three of them rather quickly after the initial fulfillment. I know a lot of other people weren't so lucky for the first two, especially DoE.
Totally with you on Dwellings of Eldervale! That is definitely one of the Kickstarters which I regret backing. I was lucky, because I signed up for the list and kept up-to-date with Breaking Games's e-mails. I ordered my Legendary Edition copy of DoE in January 2021. Well with a board game you can easily see that you moved to a wrong spot and just go back and change your move. I think the big thing my group did wrong was we didn't know their was a limit on how many times you could donate to the great oak, We still limited it to 1 blessing each, but the amount of check marks on the oak increased, unlocking some things faster. I also know that the steam version has some rules that honestly don't make sense. Like I had a card that moved me with jump and then all enemies I run over I damage and poison, but for some reason I couldn't add my boots that add 2 move to that.
Ya solomon kane is fantastic. Probably one of the most unique table top experiences I've ever played. Luckily a local game store had a copy so I was able to pick it up. The kickatarter campaigne page looked very uninteresting which is why I originally passed.

Hi Alex. Great video as usual. I also passed on Frosthaven, but after hearing your talk and playing Gloomhaven picked up a kickstarter version that had been played once for under $80, I saw it and had to buy it. We are tabling it at the weekend.
HZD was a bargain on KS as surprising as it sounds. I did the All In and added extras and sold the extras (like an extra Thunderjaw) which lowered my cost a lot. I bought it due to the video game and the minis. I think the gameplay is lacking, but still pleased that I backed it.
I backed It... and I would have prefered to keep my money... the gameplay is so boring. The minis are cool though... I'm considering running a homebrew D&D adventure using those minis XD
Haven't been getting in on Frosthaven since I waited for the german campaign by Feuerland. This has been delayed several times now and the last info I got would be some price point of 250 Euros. Had been looking forward to get this as I did join the german Gloomhaven campaign as well but there is just so much I'm willing to spend on a campaign right now and this is not the amount of money to sink in a single game anymore.
Frosthaven is funny, as I really enjoy Gloomhaven, but I dont wanna pick up a big epic campaign as I will never able to play it. We can meet once a week, where we probably could play 2 Scenarios. But there are some exception. Like Endless Winter coming soon! Or Earth earlier this year.
I don't have FOMO, but I like to get all the gameplay a game can offer. Until now, most of my KS were bought after the campaign, and sometimes 2-3 years later at good price. For example, I got a full nemesis pledge(everything except lockdown), with the washed mini for 250$ CDN. The mini's are amazing! I like the reasons behind KS and gamefound, but i hate to wait 12 to 24 months, sometime more. I like when I'm looking for a game, that I can get it int he next month.
So, thank you for honesty, I love how you see gaming like me. Everything is based on how much fun a game gives you.
Have a great day!
I just hope isofarian guard goes to retail . The game that i want most next to arydia
It would be nice :)
I also backed Trudvang over Isofarian Guard. It was probably a mistake.. ;)
Trudvang is fun....but I prefer Isofarian.
I'm having remorse about not backing Castles of Mad King Ludwig Royal edition.
I like Castles....but not $100+ like it :)
Ty for the video!
Absolutely :)
If he ended up having all but 2, I never got the purpose of the video
I backed Frosthaven after I heard about the $250 MSRP. Easy Flip IMHO
lol yep
I’m surprised Dead Reckoning wasn’t on the list
I'm gonna have to finally check out Roll Play Adventures.
Great to see Radlands in this list!
It's such a good game :)
Kingdom come deliverance looks to be cancelled
Sadly :(
can you make a ten kickstarters i was right about video?
Sure :)
@@BoardGameCo Wouldn't it be more like "the 100 KS I was right about" video? 🤣
Very difficult for me to buy or back any Steamforged game after Dark Souls. I know SFG has gotten better, but DS was so bad…..
radlands is really the solid one out of these
One more thing. It was channels like this that made me open my eyes to this hobby. Keep up the great work👍
Aww that's sweet thanks!
Thx for sharing, Alex
Absolutely :)
I think 4 of these games were on your 2020 video of what NOT to back. hehehe ..
Makes sense :)
