My husband bought a 1985 C & C '41 in 1990 and we still own it! We raced her for 17 years then started cruising. She hasn't been back to her homeport of Corpus Christi since 2007! Thank you for the tour of your beautiful refit, I would like to do something similar starting in 2020 when we get her back home! s/v White Pepper
What an absolutely Beautiful boat and restoration...excellent!!! Lots of very hard work and attention to detail went into this. What an incredible job Bill did on this restoration. I really liked the removal of the wall at the nav station and it just opens up the boat...and the day tank for the "fire place", just great!! I think those type of heaters just make a boat for the salon. I looks like an extremely functional and practical SV. 5 year restoration...Congratulations Bill...absolutely beautiful job!!!
Awesome video Alfy :) As always you did an excellent job! Bill should most certainly start uploading videos :) And a big thanks to Bill for mentioning my channel :D
Please encourage this guy to make videos…he's awesome! His attention to detail is awesome and I think we can learn a lot from him! Thanks for sharing!!!
very nice c&c 41. that bat-car system is so cool. i did some sailing on a boat that had that with lazy jacks and the sail would drop like a rock. love that and i will be putting that on my boat when i get it. thanks for sharing this and hope everyone had a happy turkey day....
+S/V Working On It Looking For The Boat it sure was a nice C&C and I would love to see the Bat Car system in action! Hopefully I can get out with Bill sometime to see it. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Breathtakingly beautiful boat. I chartered a C&C 38 in San Diego - nicest boat I've ever sailed. I owned a Newport 27 - nice as well. my next boat will be a C&C.
Thanks for this. Bill you are an inspiration to all of us who sail and love C&C yachts! The craftsmanship is impressive indeee. Your thoughts on what works and what doesn't in the original boats are much appreciated. The brief shots of the deck show that you have done nearly as much there as down below - it would be worth another video to talk us through those upgrades as well.....
Hi, thanks. C&C's have been in my blood for a long time. I grew up in the Niagara peninsula where these were built. My dad and his sailing buddies were fans of George Hinterhoeller and all bought Sharks. George was part of the C&C enterprise in the early days, and then split with Cuthbertson and Cassian to build his own boats. My 30 Mk 1 is identical in layout and many components and details to the Niagara 31. Both boats sail beautifully, and have that lovely sheerline... C&C's look like sailboats are supposed to to me, but then that may just be some form of childhood imprinting....
That was a great video, Alfy! Thanks for sharing. What a beautiful boat, congrats and best wishes to Bill. I must say that wheel is enormous! Hope all is well. SV Soleil
Hi Alfy.... Well done to another vid, always interesting and I love seeing other peoples boats, especially when they are so well presented.I will definitely sign up for Bills uploads. Interesting comment about the Anchor cabling conduit. Back in 2000 I was delivering a yacht to the Whitsundays for Race Week and there was a brand new 39 foot yacht (from a respectable local builder) and in a following sea on the way up he syphoned water up the exhaust killing the engine, we got it sorted up there but on the way back punching into a steep choppy sea put about 200 gallons of water through all the boats electrics, lights and everything because the anchor locker only had small drains and once flooded just flowed down the conduit running through the boat.... requiring a full rewiring all because the conduit was not sealed. Something to check !!
+wilsnich02 Glad you enjoyed the videos!! That is crazy that these little things are missed and end up causing major issues like the ones you describe! How does these builders get away with it?? Thanks for sharing that story. :)
+Francis Ivanyisky Yes it sure was a nice boat and I hope to get on it again! Thanks for the nice comments about the videos and I'll keep on Bill about getting some videos up too! :)
Absolutely beautiful, well-maintained boat, impeccably kept. Thanks for this video of a great boat tour and wonderful interview! New subscriber here who is learning boatloads of valuable info from you, Drake-n-Mo and Mads. Looking forward to more of your videos and checking out your adventures. It's been a little over 30 years since I have sailed but the water has been beckoning me to return. Just another "Mo" =o)
Really glad to hear you enjoyed the tour of Bill's boat! Also great to hear that you are a new subscriber! Thank you for that! I really hope you get back out on the water soon!! :)
Alfy, I wonder if you can find out who did the cabinetry for Bill. It looks like a great job. Great video btw. What a valuable resource you have become.
Great share! What a well done restore. I would definitely subscribe to a channel Bill makes. I really hope you both could sail together next summer. Thanks for showing us.
+KarbideMachinist Glad you annoyed the tour!! I will keep on him to get a channel going and I have no doubt we will see another video with Bill on this channel as well! :)
very good stuff TY! WOW Bill beautiful! The anchor alone, I could never bring myself to dropping it in the water!! I am considering a C&C 41 for my next boat. I noticed Bill has his dingy on the foredeck, how does this interact with the baby stay? Is it an acceptable practice to not use the baby stay? Can mast pumping be tuned out with other means? TY
Another great video. Was the outside painted or awlgripped? It looked pretty shiny. The cockpit enclosure looked huge too. Perhaps an exterior tour is might be coming in part 3??? :)
+Phil Hopewell Thanks!! The hull was painted, but it was not Awlgrip and I will have to ask Bill again what the paint was. He mentioned the benefits of the paint he used so I will try to get that info for you. Or maybe Bill will talk about it on a video of his own! :)
The paint is Alexseal it's advantage over Awlgrip is that it can be repaired where with Awlgrip,if you get a 6 inch scratch the whole saide has to be repainted. Cheers, Bill
+offplanetevent Really glad you enjoyed the video and the tour! I will help Bill get the YT stuff set up if I have to because I want to see more as well! :)
