Husqvarna AWD Axle Bearing Replacement

  • Check it out!
    In today's video we're working on a Husqvarna AWD Self Propelled lawn mower that needs the axle bearings replaced.
    The issue is that Husqvarna only lists the entire bracket itself in their parts diagram (complete with bearing) and they don't supply the part number for just the bearing itself.
    This not only created a backorder of the bracket, but also forces customers to purchase a much more expensive component, when they can simply remove the worn bearing, and replace it with a new one.
    The part number for the newer style replacement axle bearing;
    Husqvarna: 587070202
    This is the superseded part number that now has a rubber seal on the outside of the bearing, to prevent water & debris from going in.

    Shout-out to M. Gomez who found a part number for just the bearing with rubber seals, you can press them out of that retainer and just purchase the bearing itself P/N: 104-8699
    Once I found that Amazon listing of the bearing and retainer, I googled that part number (587070201) and then found a listing on eReplacementParts website that showed it had been superceded to the 587070202 with a newer style RS rubber sealed bearing.
    Additionally, eReplacementParts has a great video on removing this wheel assembly on a very similar mower if anyone would like to watch it. Like I said though, it's very simple.

      I sort of wish I'd seen this video a month ago. I just finished an epic adventure with a Craftsman (AYP) front wheel drive problem. This bearing was shown as a separate part # on the parts diagrams. It was a bear to get the circlip back on the bearing in the adjuster plate. No O-rings on this Craftsman version, but a very stiff cupped washer that needed to get compressed in my vice and with c-clamps. I videoed the entire rambling escapade. Where I ended up was not where I intended on this repair.
      I get a giggle on those eReplacment and other similar videos. Swapping out new parts on brand new machines: 1/2 the fun is slogging through filthy, seized, bent, rusted, and corroded bits and parts.
      Thanks for the great videos.

    Super work getting that bearing number, sure you were happy that it worked out well. Feel bad for the 370 back ordered people when they see this video and realise they could have just replaced the bearing ONLY IF THEY FOUND THE PART NUMBER!

    Sucks trying to get that snap ring back on! Tried without the rubber seal and it worked but height adjustment kept slipping off due to too much slop and slipped off the bottom tab repeatedly. Got the assembly in the freezer now. Fingers crossed I'll get it on

    I have the HU775BBC and I notice it popping and grinding and I took the wheels off and noticed that the wheel pressed in bearing seem sloppy and with the wheels on they have a lot of play and movement and I like to know what bearings I need to replace them? The smaller gears on the body seem ok so it's the wheels and play making them skip and slip

    I have the 800 someone gave me (HU800AWDH) He said it was locked up but turning the blade and pulling the cord it fired up and then the belt split. It was really worn down thin so watching videos and taking off covers, I found my problem is not the bearings where you were focusing on behind the 14 tooth pinion but the bearings in the wheel( mine is the larger rear wheel set up) and on the wheel mount shaft. It seems like there might be more than one on that alone. I had to press out (knock) the wheel bearing out and no ball bearings or roller bearings were left-the part evidently corroded apart. The parts list for this one is just like the one you showed and no separate bearings listed for what I need.
    I did buy a new Sunbelt belt for $20 but have not installed. I think it would drive if I installed it but the bearings are holding me back from wanting to put the belt on just yet. The wheels are sloppy lose with the issue. Boy I do have some dabbling time in this but almost thinking of throwing in the towel. Typed in the new superseded bearing # and brought up the old one by the way and closer watching your video did not make me think I was looking at what I really needed anyway but great job with what you were showing! Thanks and thanks if you reply too!
