    Excellent as usual. Thanks. I struggled initially with the E2 F6, but I've really become more familiar with it and absolutely love the picture especially with the anamorphic. Cheers for this and the excellent 17 different resolutions with this camera.

    Same here! So lovely and I don‘t know why. Tonns of accesoires and maybe I could’ve bought an fx6 for that money….but yes, I love the S6!

      As a hobbyist it was difficult to justify the S6, and I was also drooling over the FX6 😅.
      The image does it for me though.

    Nice Vid Bro, I own the Sony A7SIII and I plan to pull the trigger on the Z Cam F6. It is about having the tool you want for the project.

    No one ever talks about the post workflow of Zcam. It's literally THE reason many people, incl me, just don't want to buy it. This cumbersome extra app and no support for Zraw in a normal way in resolve or something. How do you go about getting a proper image out of it?

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At this point it seems that Zraw is a bit of s gimmick that nobody uses. Because of the RED patent issues they quickly had to "not be raw" and instead some sort of high quality h265.
      To get the most people shoot Zlog2 and ProRes 422 HQ which gives A LOT. For what I've read, when they used a few F6 cams in Mission Impossible they went with ProRes 422.
      Additionally you get ProRes Raw with Atomos recorders and now Braw with Black magic recorders.
      I'm just a hobbyist, so take my opinion for what it is, but for me the ProRes 422, Zlog2 and the ACES transforms (by Thatcher Freeman) gives a very easy, robust, Resolve friendly workflow with an excellent acquisition.
      (Sidney Baker Green would be a professional to follow, I think).

      @@RogerinFinland that's more of an answer I could've asked for. Thank you so much! Yeah I like raw because of the RAW settings in post. like WB, ISO etc. But of course properly shot 422 is great for every purpose. Im also just a hobbyist, that's exactly why I want a super chill post flow and not have 234 transforms between editors to get something. Thanks mate!

      @@RogerinFinland bc atm im thinking between a p6k and an s6 you know. The modularity of zcam is amazing but the braw is just so simple. +I hate the form factor as everyone of a pocket lol

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I had a P4K and I got a Zcam E2c. That made me decide to sell the P4K and get the S6.
      Black magic does amazing stuff, don't get me wrong! But the form factor and robust built of the Zcam made all the difference for me.
      Mind you, I'm also the same idiot that gets and DJI Action 3 over GoPro because of usability even with the softness/focus issues debacle. 😅

    You have had the zcam e2 m4 and the zcam s6 and high one do you like better and do they have the same dynamic range. Why did you mostly chose s6 over m4

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! I haven't had the E2-M4. I do have the E2c and the E2-S6 though. The E2c is pretty far from both the E2-M4 and the S6. So I can't comment on comparisons between E2-M4 and E2-S6.
      I did consider the E2-M4, but having had some m4/3 cameras and also APS-C/s35, I wanted the s35 sensor, with the MFT mount, especially since I do have some MFT lenses that are great (to me) and cover the s35 sensor.
      For what I heard and read (so take it for what it is) and simplifying much, if you prioritize:
      - Sensor size, low light: E2-S6
      - High frame rates: E2-M4

  • @samuelguce

    Hey Roger - do you know if there’s an ability to reset or calibrate the image on the S6? Just not able to make any monitor or rec709 luts (inc zcams zlog2 exposure luts) work.
    Most importantly my skin tones are washed out and often too hot.
    Always crushing and clipping when I convert to rec709 in zlog colour plugin.
    Even my rec709 profile is dark and always feels very different to what I see on monitor when filming.
    Have you had any of these problems?

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I'm a bit of an oddball, but I don't use LUTs in my monitor. I tried, and I'm sure il5try again, but I'm happy just looking at Zlog2.
      When it comes to the plugin, I don't use it either 😅, for me it's the ACES workflow from Thatcher Freeman (I have my own video about it) and that gives me what I want.
      Sorry I'm not able to help more... Have you asked the question (sharing samples) in the Facebook group?

    • @samuelguce
      @samuelguce 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply.
      Yeah I probably could just monitor straight from zlog2 as long as the waveform is correct.
      Do you know any tests I can do at home to find out if there’s something wrong with the camera? Something like your colour checker style videos?
      I am in the process of making a video on it with samples to post to the group - I have also contacted zcam in my country to see if they would help

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm very unsure of what your problem may be, it could even be the monitor. I'd try to do some clips of a well lit color checker in Rec.709 using different monitors and just exposing based on the waveform from the camera. Then also some skin tone test (just your head in the frame 😅): with Rec709 at I'm for the face at 60 IRE (middle of the waveform) and Zlog2 at 70-75ish so you need to pull exposure in post.
      Maybe when we see footage in the Facebook group we can help more 👍🏻👍🏻

    Are you experiencing in vignette?

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a very specific question, yet broad 😊
      With the MFT it will depend on the lens. For instance, Meike 25mm T2.2 with MFT mount, no issues at all.

    • @MinisterTravis
      @MinisterTravis 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RogerinFinland Well, I plan to get the mft active mount for my S6 just wondering

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MinisterTravis all I can say is that it is not dependent on the mount, but on the lenses. If you get lenses with MFT mount designed for S35 or full frame you'll be OK, those that technically only cover MFT will likely vignette or worse; but some might work.

    Would the Zcam be A good camera for documentary interviews ?

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think I'm qualified to answer (as a hobbyist) but I'd say yes.
      It's a robust camera with several codecs and media options, also several power solutions, won't overheat or anything like that and the image quality is great.
      I suppose it depends on what are your particular requirements though.

    • @samuelguce

      All I would say to this (as another mostly hobbyist) is that the XLR external microphone clips for me even at lowest setting so when I record interviews I record off camera.
      Otherwise I would certainly recommend, especially if you have a few of the needed extras already

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for he contribution! I always use an external recorder, but I've been curious about the internal one.

    • @samuelguce
      @samuelguce 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RogerinFinland I was really wanting it to work nicely but unfortunately for me with an Alvin's Cables adaptor to a Rode NTG3 it clips at even the lowest setting (perhaps something to do with requiring phantom power) - It's not the Alvin's Cable as others I've seen are reporting the same issue with different set-ups.. Not to worry though as I have just screwed a 15mm rod clamp to the bottom of my Tascam dr-40 (bit beefy for the rig but it will do) and slide it under my camera on one of the rods.

    The s6 is better then fx3. Cheaper n uses a sony sensor

    • @RogerinFinland
      @RogerinFinland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do like the S6 very much, and since I haven't tried an FX3 I wouldn't make that statement lightly.
      For instance, the FX3 is full frame and has killer autofocus. If those things matter more to the user then the FX3 is better suited to those needs.
      The S6 on the other hand does have interchangeable mount, great battery options, and can record ProRes HQ internally. And if that matters more to the user...
      You get where I'm going with this 😁
