Mondays at Mirai: Snowmelt

- In this episode of Mondays at Mirai, heavy snowmelt pours from the gutters as the entire team is working diligently all across the property to get the week launched at full speed, while garden volunteers Ira and Ryan C. bring their joyful antics to the greenhouse for some repotting assistance.
Starting out in the office today, Diana, our brand director, is gleefully getting an opportunity to handle the Mamiya C330 film camera. As a creative photographer and videographer, she feels a connection to the instantaneous and irreplaceable capture of an analog film camera. On the other side of the office, Ryan lays out a calendar of energy systems and timing of work for Japanese black pine bonsai. Over in the greenhouse, Ryan C., with his good friend Ira's help, is in the process of repotting a highway-collected tamarisk. Meanwhile, Jesus and Lani are in the studio photographing another massive shipment of ceramics to be added to the webstore. Sheree, our garden apprentice, is exhausted due to a week-long power outage at her home in the Portland area due to ice and snowmelt. Later, while Jesus is filming the work on a hornbeam repotting from driftwood bonsai, Ryan spontaneously decides to take his raft-style teaching straight to the viewers with a Super Tuesday livestream. Sometimes, spontaneity is the spark to an artist's creative vision, such as it is this week for Ryan with a deciduous bonsai raft design.

Good to see El Presidenté Ira living the dream.
More great shots captured by Josh in the Mirai garden...and it isn't only about the trees. One foot in front of the other.....hopefully in the right direction. Thought we had a runner there.
The camera work is top tier!

Wow that takes me back, ex professional photographer here, back when it was 6x7 roll film on Mamiya RB67, polaroid backs and Fuji Velvia transparency. Amazing to think how technology has progressed with digital. Here's hoping for a better 2021. Loving the videos team Mirai.
Gotta love the PNW! While you’re documenting snow melt in late Feb, my trees (Inland Northwest) are buried in snow yet again.
Easily the best TH-cam channel lol! As well as best bonsai learning platform online! Mirai all the way! Cant wait to see the finished product of last night's raft stream. Keep rockin out Mirai. One day, we shall meet...

I dont understand how he got that huge branch to root, anybody who can help with that? Or are those grafts on the tree at 3:29?
he scar the part of the trunk that contact the ground and use rooting hormones to assist that part to start the process. Search for Ground layer or Air Layer technique of you want more info on this.
Tamarisk are one of a few species that will root from larger older cuttings and branches. No hormones necessary. That’s why they are so damn invasive. Almost impossible to kill.
@@abrahamwilson2632 Thanks for the answer. Interesting didnt think thats actually possible to straight up cut such a huge branch and get it to root without preparing it (by airlayer or other).
IM BORED,,,,
Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai!
2 commercials in the beginning? No thank you.
