  • This is the fourth and last part of our tutorial series covering drone mapping in RealityCapture. In this one, we’ll go over exporting our creations and using them in third-party applications like CloudCompare and QGIS.

    Espectacular!!

    When I export the point cloud, following the video, I don't get an .las file, I get an DWG Trueview Layer State. When I open it in Cloud Compare I get a thin straight line of colored dots. Is there a setting I missed?

    how does the final deliverable data compare to Drone Deploy?

    Can you explain more about the vertical coordinate system? After I loaded the obj or las into ArcGIS, the height looks incorrect.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brandon, were your data georeferenced? In RealityCapture are used ellipsoidal heights.

    • @bzzzogm
      @bzzzogm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CapturingReality Yes, the data is georeferenced. The point cloud exported are in the right location but the wrong height. For example, the model's elevation display range is between 1-3m, instead of the drone photo sources 100m.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bzzzogm Did you used GCPs for georeferencing or just images?

    • @bzzzogm
      @bzzzogm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CapturingReality Just image, I thought it might be the issue, not sure if the software can auto calculate the true height without GCP.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bzzzogm When you are using drones, the height is not above sea level but about place of take off. So there could be these differences.

    Hi, any chances to export all the regions and so on volumes ?

  • @Rogun987
    @Rogun987 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When I try to export the LAS file I do not have the option to export PROJECT OUTPUT for coordinate system. I setup my coordinate system in settings in the beginning.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To use the option Project output you need to have georeferenced project. Do you see the pin icon next to your component?

      @@CapturingReality Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. When I brought in the ground control, i used "add control points", it added NEW points and not under the points I brought in. Even though In 1d I had the imported point selected, it would add a new outside the imported points. So I just ended up manually adding points thinking they were part of the imported GCPs but they were not, obviously.

    Is there any way to import dxf with a map on created georeferenced model?

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, what exactly do you mean by map?

    • @juu226
      @juu226 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CapturingReality Thanks for response, it is quite old tutorial. I meant for egz. my created dxf file with boundaries of planned excavation. I managed to workaround this by importing those boundaries as GCP points but measurment tool is not clipping to them so it is a bit tricky to set up exact place for calculations on created model.

      @CapturingReality  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juu226 Hi, for this you can use reconstruction region (export and use it later). But there is also possibility to export shapes (in Ortho mode) and use those shapes in volume measurements for example.

      @juu226 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CapturingReality Ok thanks, I will try that. Hope in future there will be some possibility to export chosen points xyz coordinates from point cloud as txt file for land surveyors. Something like addnotations on Recap pro.

      Only 2D video can be exported from RealityCapture.
