What a beautiful car. A reminder of when the indigenous motor industry was in rude health.

One of Dad's first cars back in the 60's quite fast back in the day when he lived in Gloucestershire in his early 20's simpler times 👍👍👍

I remember my wife’s brother had an automatic one and it wouldn’t go up birdlip hill in Gloucestershire but it was a beautiful looking car as they still are in my opinion 👍

    Just advice
If your playing the radio over this video you need a performing rights licence
If your playing it for customers on site to entertain you need licence too
    Just advice..love the videos 👍

Was that a cranked gear lever,,? 3a has a straight one to be proper! Later box ,? Maybe even a minx which might have the wrong ratio(s)

I once had a 3a in the 80s. It had the straighter gear lever, (like a 65 Superminx) but this car is a series 3. Not a 3a. They were slightly different, the gear levers being one of the differences. There's still a few of these in New Zealand as well, owned by collectors/enthusiasts.

I took my test in a 59 Rapier, dad's, in Dec 62 and yes the gear lever and bobble were different. The clock and rev counter on ours were blanks as they were optional extras, can you believe? Very disappointed with dad not specifying these - and of course no radio. No seatbelts and front discs allowed me to catapult the examiner into the windscreen! Even so passed first time lol.

4710 HX - I think this car is the one used in a classic car programme narrated by John Peel about 20 years ago?

I remember that programme, 8 episode shown on channel 4 back in 1999. Called “Classic British Cars’’ and yes I think it might have been this car.

I agree but remember watching a live one from them but the sound was terrible so maybe they just gave up - shame.
