    This is a fantastic deck tech, as a Dimir player I've been a bit lost on how to build my first Grixis commander as I never play red. I'll probably end up using Sauron for casuals and trying to build Lord of Nazgul as my cEDH

    I just started playing magic as this set was released. I made my first deck out of just the cards from this set and used Sauron the Dark Lord for my commander. I have no idea what I’m doing but the deck actually works 😂

    I'm building mine as a graveyard focused reanimator/flashback deck.

    I went with a grindy amass theme, Nazgul tempts, and some powerful equipment. Sauron feels like a desparked Nicol Bolas.

    I'd love to see some nicol bolas cards in here. Possibly have alters made where he is smaug instead

    I believe there are 2 builds which people will gravitate towards:
    Build 1 (the more powerful) aristocrats. You will make your opponents want to jump into an active volcano or push you into one to stop you from draining them. Would use zulaport cutthroat, vraan, sanguine bond/demonic pact or whatever the other one is called.
    Way 2 (the more fun) would be amass tribal. War of the spark voltron big army which slaps your opponents in the face. Would use unblockable stuff, mauhur/ugluk, hexproof givers and double strike to k.o. an opponent.

      I use both of them and a third one, sacrificing the armi with cards like deadly dispute. So When i want i let the army grow or sacrificing it for value, since i make sauron i always win with my friends hahah

      I am throwing in 9 nazgul, maskwood nexus, and some value goblins and both krenkos in mine... 15 ramp though just So I can always play out my cards
      I threw in commit/memory as a weird removal and graveyard shuffle... I may one day add a kozilek to be "morgoth" if I find self milling to be a problem
      I used wonder instead of filth

    Sauron the Dark Lord is among my favorite commanders from this set. I just plan on building a big bad guy deck

    Taurean Mauler is also important here if you are including Changling Outcast.

      Your right. Its like another creature with saurons amass orc ability

    I feel like mine is a cross between the reanimation for the big bodies and amass army strat. Feel like I can't make a decision so the deck doesn't either of them as well as it should

    Great video! Decklist has 101 cards, wondering what the extra is?

      It's a Swamp. There are only supposed to be one copy. This is what I run in paper, and because I swap our the spells for the cEDH variant, it's meant to have a singletom manabase for Tainted Pact. Thank you for pointing out that oopsie on my end!

    I believe there is no way to have multiple army tokens at the same time. The armies merge their type

    • @PlaneswalkerProject
      @PlaneswalkerProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct! Changeling tokens are the only way, and Amass of any type won't generate a new token if there already exists a token with the Army subtype.

      @PlaneswalkerProject what if we used a card to copy that army token like Rite of Replication? Would that work?

    Add Sheoldred the apocalypse & the one ring, Minas Morgul, & the dead marshes, atleast

      I do love my Mimeoplasm deck, so I can agree there. I just wish green got better Commander cards than red these days...

      @@PlaneswalkerProject I hear you, and I wish sultai had more interesting commander options. But, green ramp is just so good!

    Also wanted to ask, how do you feel about playing Sauron the dark lord as a reanimator/aristocrats?

    • @PlaneswalkerProject
      @PlaneswalkerProject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely a possibility and a good option. Earlier drafts of this deck utilized the Army token to sacrifice quite a bit, and there were alot more Blood Artist style stuff in here. Reanimator is good in Grixis lists in general, and you can get alot of good targets in the colors.

    This is... the LESS competitive deck you built? o.O

    • @PlaneswalkerProject
      @PlaneswalkerProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      My competitive build used more of a generic Grixis core of CEDH stuff to get off a quick Thassa's Oracle/Demonic Consultation win, with an Underworld Breach/Brain Freeze combo backup. I'm still newer to that level of deckbuilding, but it's very different to this.

  • @mooninites755
    @mooninites755 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No disrespect, but I didn't think your last build was all that competitive, especially since you made a lot of flavor choices in it. There's nothing wrong with that, but your intro kind of makes it sound as if your last Sauron deck was a cEDH deck, which it definitely wasn't.

    • @PlaneswalkerProject
      @PlaneswalkerProject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am still learning the cEDH end of the format, and it's at least more towards that end than my usual builds. I'm sure it would only take a few changes to make it hit that threshold, but it's a long way to go.
