  • We conducted an advanced application renovation workshop with one of our international clients. We took a header and associated detail file from their heritage application. We implemented a data-centric design paradigm on the two files as a blueprint to gradually introduce the design and approach into the complete line-of-business application.
    Session 9: Detailed, step-by-step Review of POINTERS & User Spaces (*USRSPC) and User Indeces (*USRIDX)
    Complete curriculum:
    1. Review and understand the ILE programming model and its functionality.
    2. Examine & understand the “Call Stack” information and procedures in the context of ILE.
    3. Understand message percolation and the use of pre-defined messages.
    4. Review available “Message Handling” API’s and the advantages of “wrapping” specific functions into *SRVPGM procedures.
    5. Understand I/O Servers, including their benefits, disadvantages, and place in Data-centric architecture.
    6. Understand usage and limitations of *BEFORE & *AFTER trigger programs.
    7. An Introduction to User Spaces
    8. Examine *PRIKEY, *UNQCST, *CHECK & *REFCST constraints, including usage and impact.
    9. Understand & Create a JSON interface driver.
