First-line Imaging: CT for pancreatic cancer, ultrasound for gallstones, ERCP for biliary tree issues, HIDA scan for cholecystitis. Follow-up Tests: ERCP for cholangiocarcinoma if initial CT is negative. Management Strategy: Tailor imaging and diagnostic approach based on clinical presentation and lab results.
If the alp is elevated in a pancreatic cancer that means there is a blockage somewhere right? So why is the amylase not elevated if there is a blockage wouldn’t it go up?
Wouldn’t Ultrasound be the correct answer because the pancreatic adenocaticnoma causing painless obstructive jaundice would be in the head? At least according to UWORLD we use US for pancreatic head cancers and CT for body (ref 3585)
