Met Butch and SP in Marietta, Ga.(happened to be in my band 'Nightshade Project's touring circuit - 1993) while they were finishing 'Siamese Dream' sessions . The Pumpkins were not yet an established name, so the thrill was meeting Butch, who had produced 'Nevermind' for Nirvana. Becoming friends with Billy paid off for us, because on April 9th, 1994 we were booked to open for them in Tallahassee, Fl. Our manager Tony Scott told us he asked for us specifically.
I love Cherub Rock so much. So nice to hear it on an acoustic guitar and the riff still cuts right through you. When the album starts off with this song all gentle with the sound getting fuller & fuller until the guitar blasts in, just hit's the spot for me. One of the best intros ever.
Corgan is one of the great song writers of our time. The Pumpkins announced themselves as being like no other band at the time with the opening bars of Gish (and that Chamberlain was going to change the way rock drummers thought about drumming). I was in my 30's when Gish and 'Dream came out. I'm in my 60s and still listen to these two albums regularly. Loud. They still both work me into a frenzy and move me to tears. Thank you Billy Corgan.
I think that the last little verse in "Hummer" was the greatest thing that billy wrote, and also the greatest thing that will ever be written by anyone anywhere
Hadn't played Siamese Dream for about 15 years, but for some reason picked out the cd to play in the car going to work yesterday. Played it again today & will be again tomorrow. The intro on Cherub Rock into the heavier guitar, just top drawer. Loving it all over again.
I can say without the slighest doubt I WILL be buying one of each reissue from the pumpkins. I still have every CD/Casette I bought when they first came out and it will be an honor to have the reissues too! The pumpkins helped me now I'll help them by continuing to support
Gish blew me away from the very first note, and i felt so lucky to have heard it way back in 1991. It's STILL to this day one of my top 5 favorite albums ever. it's just brilliant and moves me EVERY time i listen to it, even now, more more than 20 years later.
I was listening to Gish in my car the other day..I pulled into the store parking lot and sat there till the cd was over..I had it turned up really loud and people just kept walking by.. good stuff...I just had to play it through...
the pumpkins are the reason i started searching for music that had more meaning to it than simply sounding cool, and ultimately is the reason i try to write music with meaning and somehow merge experimental with pop
"I think that's why many people stil identify to it, because it has a "reach for something bigger than yourself" quality. Yes, Billy. Almost teared up when he said that.
I've been listening to Gish a lot lately, and it's been growing on me. At first the only songs I liked were Siva and Rhinoceros but now I'm really digging some of the other songs, Crush especially. Snail seems to be a huge fan favorite, which I don't quite get yet, but it strikes me as a grower, so I'll probably be loving it in a few weeks :P
I saw the pumpkins on lollapalooza in 94 and loved hearing Gish and Siamese Dream! Both records are pure HEAVEN! Billy, James, Darcy, and Jimmy doesn’t get better than that! I’m not gonna lie: I REALLY MISS DARCY BEING IN THIS BAND 💔
Great vid!!! Couple times I found it hard to listen to what Billy was saying cause I was drawn into his singing in the background :) Love love love xxx
My wife randomly entered my email into the Loudwire giveaway for the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues and I won. Ha ha. Should be getting them in a few days. Can't freaking wait! I love my wife. :)
I got the “remastered” versions, but somehow I was unaware of she “deluxe” versions with all the extra material, and now it’s crazy expensive to get any of them on any kind of physical media. very sad.
@Poenut Thanx for the tip. It's actually Martin D45. I own myself a Martin D15 which is a beautiful guitar, but this baby with its price of above 7000€ (9000$) is a perfection :) I didn't recognized it's a Martin since it has the Martin sign written differently compared to the other models.
Siamese Dream cured me of my fear of flying. It was a flight from Anchorage AK to Seattle, which had stops at every town with an airport in Alaska. The plane went up then down about half dozen times, landing and taking off, and so on. Somehow the music mimics jet propulsion. It sounds like burning rocket fuel. I think it reinforced the invincibility of horsepower in my brain and instead of hyperventilating it felt like a hit of some wonderful street drug that hasn't been invented yet. Pure elation, pure oxygen and the very best MDA finally coursing over British Columbia southbound at 30,000 feet. That's what the Pumpkins and our Siamese Dream do to me.
That's the usual deal these days with re-releases. You'd think they'd offer a double CD - one compressed and one not. Then the listener can make their own mind up whether to go for loudness or dynamics.
@danrocks1981 I know what you mean. You know there plenty of rockin' goodness in there, but it's mastered that little bit too quiet. People complain about the so-called "Loudness war" with CDs but I think lack of volume can be just as bad!
Oh my god...these two albums speak to my soul like nothing else. It is the epitome of youthful irreverence and bliss and hopes and dreams. I'm 29...trying to hold on to whatever I can of all that. Getting older fucking SUCKS. This music has such an aching yearning to it for me...
When he says that they were criticized for "being too good" I think the criticism was more in the line of, the quality of the albums completly dwarfed the live efforts. They sound great studio but never pull it off live quite as well as one would expect.
I love the first three Pumpkins albums and the compilation Pisces BUT I’m not a fan of the remastered versions. They feel stripped of the frequency fullness the originals had. It’s especially apparent on the remastered version of Starla. I don’t understand what they were going for with the remastered versions.
Siamese Dream is my favourite album of all time. I refuse to skip any song on the album, because I love it so much. That's all :D
WikkSiva cool, that's how I feel about Gish
Let's make -babies- music together
you shouldeny skip songs on alot of albums
melloncollie is great
There is literally not one second of poor music on Siamese Dream… easily one of the best albums of the 90’s
so meee
Nearly 28 years later... I *still* adore Gish very much. Siamese dream is a close second. Love them. Long live the 90’s, in my heart. 😄💌
Butch Vig is a master of forming dirt into pretty glass, without loosing too much of the dirt.
He also produces Garbage.

machoman savage congrats. a victim of all the media trash talk about Billy. if you truly knew the band, you would know the truth. poor you.
Bleikr Sound OOH BOYYY
double entendre
Billy is the King of Alt-Rock, Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and Pisces Iscariot all awesome and made the 90s cool.
I love Cherub Rock so much. So nice to hear it on an acoustic guitar and the riff still cuts right through you.

Even Pisces Iscariot was a great album! Real dark, simple, harsh and beautiful. I put any of these 3 albuns before Mellon Collie.
One the best rock songwriters!

I think that the last little verse in "Hummer" was the greatest thing that billy wrote, and also the greatest thing that will ever be written by anyone anywhere

Siamese Dream is a masterpiece.
All time favorite record
Glad to see the Pumpkins are hanging in there. They're my favorite band ever.
Gish blew me away from the very first note, and i felt so lucky to have heard it way back in 1991. It's STILL to this day one of my top 5 favorite albums ever. it's just brilliant and moves me EVERY time i listen to it, even now, more more than 20 years later.

Lol i literally just did that. Love it!!
the pumpkins are the reason i started searching for music that had more meaning to it than simply sounding cool, and ultimately is the reason i try to write music with meaning and somehow merge experimental with pop

thank you billy to have change my life
Even after all of these years, he's still an amazing singer :)
This is unbelievably awesome! Finally remastered, and bonus tracks! Can't wait to get them! Cheers!

Billy with your soul forever.
Wish I had a time machine! The good old days and great music.
RESPECT!
When I saw the new Siamese Dream reissue I had to buy it. Love you Billy
I hope they do these type of videos for MCIS and all subsequent album reissues... These are always awesome to me.
YouOrTheEgg do you know what is even better, getting the band back together, it was awesome

This band rocks!!!!
Great vid!!! Couple times I found it hard to listen to what Billy was saying cause I was drawn into his singing in the background :)
Love love love xxx
Siamese dream is my all time favorite album
Amazing
so cool!
Amazing that it has been 20 years.
part of it probably is because he is so articulate and has something to say, which his hard to find in this business today.
That's a great sounding acoustic!
@IncliningPizza one of the best songs i've ever listen.
He inspires me to play guitar
Love the. Smashing. Pumkins. Love. The. 90s.
My wife randomly entered my email into the Loudwire giveaway for the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues and I won. Ha ha. Should be getting them in a few days. Can't freaking wait! I love my wife. :)
How’d that go?
hes still a great preformer
What happended to the rest of the vídeos of this series??
What happened to the rest of these videos where Billy plays Rocket, Starla etc??
Yeah!
I got the “remastered” versions, but somehow I was unaware of she “deluxe” versions with all the extra material, and now it’s crazy expensive to get any of them on any kind of physical media. very sad.
great mind

Still waiting for the Machina reissue!!!
The pumpkins are amazing.
this is gonna be my favourite christmas present :)
Re-release the complete Machina album already

2:57 - I like the Siamese cover a lot, but this one would've been amazing too!
the cherub rock main riff- the riff that made me want to play guitar
awwww Daydream.....D'arcy sing's on that song. Now I wish the gang were back together.
He played Crush, Suffer, Daydream, I'm going crazy from Gish and then Today, Cherub Rock, Disarm from Siamese Dream. That's it.
I would really like to know what's that guitar Billy is playing. It sounds beautiful.
smash some pumkins..lol..love these guys since day 1..
Siamese dream is the best album of all time and i aint saying that cause im a fan it just is......
You guys are still being criticized to this day for being "too good".
I love the Pumpkins even more than when I was 17, I listen EVERYDAY!!
true, it's all relative. Every generation goes through this.
@IncliningPizza ya ;) i love this song

He plays chords like me, extended middle finger. Awesome : )
i would love to find or watch the performance part of this video...it probably exists somewhere, if anyone might know link me!
C'mon SP release the rest please !!
they are unlisted. at least, 4 and 5 are. you need to get the url's off their facebook page.
damn his voice hasnt lost anything
Oh my god...these two albums speak to my soul like nothing else. It is the epitome of youthful irreverence and bliss and hopes and dreams. I'm 29...trying to hold on to whatever I can of all that. Getting older fucking SUCKS. This music has such an aching yearning to it for me...
@kjanosiban i think it is great that he is as you call it "an asshole"
he does it his way and doesnt care. more people should be this way.
anyone know what guitar Billy's playing here?
Gish no. 1
crush
Whats the song he's singing at 58 seconds left?
Hope Mellon Collie is coming soon
What the hell happened to the webisodes?
When the pumpkins were great..
@MajorKoenig2 Well Done!
could i join your band... im the same age.
I always felt Siamese Dream was too quite compared to a lot of my other albums. I always have to turn it up a bit more.
Can Jimmy come too?
then play it!
Im having trouble finding a gish tshirt. can anyone help me?
@brossive Amazon says mine should arrive Thursday =|
Did he really just play "I'm Going Crazy?"
Beautiful man...fuckkk
What's the intro song?
I Am One
suffer
The first song of their first album :)
@steveparadox1 They are! Next year. :D
0:58 Darcy I miss you, I am a bass player because of you :)
Pumpkins were the reason I picked a guitar up ..
When he says that they were criticized for "being too good" I think the criticism was more in the line of, the quality of the albums completly dwarfed the live efforts. They sound great studio but never pull it off live quite as well as one would expect.
Why not remaster Melloncollie? Sure as hell could do with it... would be nice to clean it up... such a muddy sounding record.
image how i feel @ 35!!
The thumbnail looks like Billy is smoking a cigarette at a glance.
