My 95 yr old Mom has advanced Dementia. When she's having a difficult day, I change the subject to "Let me show you this brilliant young singer, I just heard about".
And we play a Jonathan video then all is right with the world again.

Jonathan has a healing voice. I've read many comments about how his music has helped people going through cancer treatments, even of giving his CD to their surgeon to play during surgery. Also, how his music has helped people after the loss of a loved one. You and your Mom are in my prayers.
I was just reading the Bible of Jonathon son of King Saul who was devoted friend to King David...what an honour to be named Jonathon and sing this song in praise of the Living God.
I'm not really religious. Not really spiritual either. But, hearing him sing this is the best argument for God I've ever heard.
My husband has surprised me with tickets to see this amazing singer. Cannot wait to see him.

This was my song that I had my church pastor sing after he baptized me when I was 8 years old in 1964. He also had a voice and singing it in the baptismal was very moving and special. I'm now 64.
This young man is heavenly gifted, I just pray that he uses this gift to glorify God thru his life's journey. Watch over him Lord Jesus.
I watch his British audition EVERY day before I start my day. And I cry. I’m waiting for him to come of age to become my husband,, but he’s just taking too long to reach my age. I am 76. His kind of talent destroys my whole being. I thank god I was privileged to witness him before I pass.
Vivian, I am a bit younger than you, but feel a blessing to have watched him grow to likely become the greatest Tenor of the 21st century! I feel that at this age he is better than Pavarotti was at this young age! I believe that Jonathan in years to come will be considered even better than Pavarotti.

I watched Jonathan and Charlotte perform on BGT in 2012. To my recollection, I saw only their first audition. A couple of weeks ago it occurred to me to check if he had done anything afterwards. It has been years since anything brought me the sheer joy I have had in listening to the past ten years of his career. I wanted to comment on this performance specifically because, despite reading that it was spectacular I had avoided watching it. I am almost 70 years old and have been a devout, practising Wiccan since the early 1970s. As you can imagine, I thought a Christian hymn would hold little attraction for me. I gave in, finally and when he reached, “Then sings my soul, my saviour God to Thee…” I was astonished to find I was singing, too! I was transported back to the age of 5 or 6, when I would stay with my Great-Grandmother for the weekend and she would take me to church on Sunday morning. I had forgotten that, but I remembered singing this hymn. Thank you for that memory, young man. 🫶🏼🇨🇦
His diction is amazing. I am hard of hearing but I have absolutely no trouble at all understanding the lyrics wherever he is in his range.
His live concerts are mind boggling. Something which have been absolute highlights of my life. And I'm 83 years old!!! Attend one if u ever get the chance. You'll be grateful forever.

I was so blessed to be able to see him perform this last year. This was my dad's favorite hymn and both my sister and I were in tears.

This was my grandma's favorite song. She passed in 2010, she raised me though. Hearing this made me cry happy tears. Such a beautiful voice I know she would have also loved.

In Sweden, the song is called "O store Gud". The music is a Swedish folk melody and the song is one of the world's most widespread spiritual songs. It was quickly translated via German and Russian into English with the title "How great thou art".
The song played a prominent role during Revival preacher Billy Graham's meetings in the 1950s. Then Elvis Presley recorded it, and the rest is, as they say - history.

As a child I heard this live at the Nazarene church in Miami, Florida sung by the Klaudt Family Indians. I never heard it sung as well until now. AWESOME

Before his accident my grandpa used to sing different country songs from the 30s, 40s and 50s at events like county fairs and other celebrations. He even had a side job singing at a small dude ranch, on top of helping my grandma with her real estate job.
My grandma was very religious, but he wasn’t as much. This song was one of the only hymns that he ever agreed to record, and that recording survived his accident. It was played at his funeral after he died of lung cancer.
I still miss him so much that I get teary-eyed and weepy when I think about him.
He’s been gone almost twelve years, and he died in his 70s, so I know it’s not realistic to wish that he could have been at my wedding four years ago, or that he could have met my 18 month old son, but there are times when I just ache wishing he could have.

I'm glad someone understands the difference, sadly Jonathan seems destined to go down the Popera path like Alfie Boe and Russell Watson etc...when vocally he has the potential to be something so much more.
He certainly has a profoundly beautiful and powerful voice but he wants the admiration of casual music fans instead of serious opera audiences and critiques alike, I sincerely hope he knuckles down now everyone in the Classical-Crossover sphere worships him and actually goes into Opera studies. He can never be considered a truly great Tenor until he has, even Mario Lanza had a brief stint on the operatic stages before he seeked the more glamorous propositions of Hollywood.

He has said this is his Mum's favorite. These video's are more obscure: Jonathan singing "Bring Him Home" at age 14, at a school recital. Singing "Ava Maria" in a church at 15, (his voice matured so much in one year) At age 20, two performances on the BBC TV show, Songs of Praise, "The Holy City" and "Panis Angelicus." He has also co-written a young children's book, "Jonathan The Porcupine" about bullying, he does a reading of it on here. Watch his song "Compass" dedicated to all the kids who don't fit in, from his sold out concerts in 2019 in Toronto. There are family pictures shown behind him, and his Mum Tracy, wiping away tears as she watches him sing. All here on You Tube. Enjoy.
