Thank you! I love all of the Sailor Shikiori greens. I just ordered tokiwamatsu and tempted to get rikyucha too! The green you mentioned sounds amazing, I need to try it out, thanks for the rec!
This is by far the best ink searching I've ever seen! Your technique brings out the full scoop the ink properties within reason (I find swaps with qtips to be too much) and very aesthetically pleasing. I do believe the term you're looking for with the 'duel colors) is chorma-shading and something I absolutely love (I'll be getting a bottle of Roberts after winter).
Theo, wow, that is so encouraging to hear! It is so much fun swatching with the cup, I enjoy making these videos! Thank you for that, chroma-shading is probably the more accurate term.
Thank you, I also love the process of swatching these inks and I'm glad that you enjoy the videos! I've got several more ink comparison videos (I really bought way too many ink samples in the beginning!).
Wow! YOur ink swatches are incredible. Unique take on how to get that shape, I've used a stencil but then you get the bleed through underneath. Vert Olive is my all time favourite green. There are few other greens I can recommend: Birmingham Pen Co - Lichen Watermark, Kentucky Bluegrass. Diamine's Green Umber. Colorverse's Brane, Crab Nebula and NGC1850 (glistening).
Thanks for your comment and recs! I would love to try Birmingham inks and already drawn to lichen watermark and Kentucky bluegrass just by their names.
Ina ho is one of my favorite inks, I only have a sample, and I keep putting off buying the whole bottle, until it got discontinued and I couldn't get it anywhere. It was the saddest moment in my fountain pen journey. I am glad that you have a full bottle. Ina ho means rice grain---it represents the golden brownish rice field ready for harvest.
Wait, really? Did Ina-ho just sell out? I heard they were getting discontinued, which prompted me to get a bottle of it (and tsukushi) about a month ago, didn't realize that it's not available anymore! I'm so sorry!

Your ink comparison videos are my absolute favourite to watch right now. I’m looking forward to catching up viewing this one tomorrow when it’s day time herein the UK. I’m so curious to know what the metal round thing is you’re using for your ink swatches?
Oh my goodness, Sarah, thanks for your comment! The metal round thing is a stainless steel container that I used to put hummus and peanut butter in for my kids' lunches. Now this is exclusively for ink swatching. :) You can surely find them on Amazon, they're fun to swatch with!
I love how you swatch your samples and olive greens are among my favorites! One I'm also considering trying based on recommendations is Robert Oster's Crocodile Green. Thank you so much for all the time you put into creating these wonderful videos!
I just stumbled across your channel in my search of all things fountain pens and ink. I adore your ink comparison videos and watch this one apprehensively as olive greens are a favorite :) In fact, you inspired me to buy this Kaweco Sport WITH the gold clip.
Thanks so much for your comment! Glad you got the Kaweco sport with the gold nib! Such a tasteful accessory, adds a refined flair to the writing experience!
I love olive greens too! It's really nice to see them all together for comparison. Out of that list I like Safari and Alt-Goldgrun, but one of my favourites that is not featured is Peter Moss from Ferris Wheel Press. Though honestly my preferred shade of olive green varies from day to day... 😆
I second Peter Moss. I have ordered a sample on two different occasions. It is just a lovely peaceful olive green and flows beautifully in EF and F nibs. I really should just order a bottle.
Please give them a try and let me know what you think of them, the Vert Olive reminds me of the RO Chartreuse. I don't have that ink myself, just have seen them on others' videos (no doubt one of the videos was yours!).
I recently got some green samples, and my favourites ended up being Sailor Shikiori Waka-uguisu and Robert Oster Avocado, though Avocado is a bit too light in my drier/finer pens. Love your swatching videos, such a fun way to get circles and comparing the inks!
I went down this rabbit hole, spent lots of money and have no regrets! At first I thought I was looking for "my green", but, as this page and video show, variety suits greens better than uniformity, so I now have -sigh- a variety of pens with a variety of greens and browns in a variety of nibs, which makes a nice, natural background field for occasional highlights in orange, pink or violet.
I love the way you do your swatches! I like olive greens also, and I guess the one I think would go best with your Kaweco Dark Olive Pen is the Olivine by Monteverde. I have that ink and really like it.
I love how you do your swatches! I’ve never seen that technique before. So cool. Wearingeul is my favorite new ink brand. Colorverse a Psc = Alpha Piscium which denotes the brightest star in the constellation of Pisces. A Psc is the shorthand for that.
OOh, the closeups!!! Beautiful shots! I think I would go with Wearingeul Path, RO Avocado, and Ina-ho, love them! Rikyu cha seems very interesting, not for a f pen tho, but for some really cool illustration!
I’m really loving the Vert Olive. I think that would be my second ink. First is the Diamine Ancient Copper and I am in love with it. I just got into the hobby and I am hooked.
I'm going down the rabbit hole with your swatch videos! I love Alt Goldgrun and am now looking at Ina Ho. My other fave green, which isn't olive, is Robert Oster's Moss.
That Colorverse ink and Robert Oster Avocado really gives me cool eucalyptus vibes and The Sailor Rikyu-Cha looks absolutely gorgeous but might be too similar to some other colors I have
@@lianelikes Your way of creating the ink swatches is stunning and unique, I haven't seen anyone else doing it like that. Greetings from a fellow Korean ink & fountain pen enthusiast!🌷
Other inks that have a tone very similar to olive green are the Noodler's inks. I like them a lot and I've use them in my journal, the colors are army green and sequoia green when you have the opportunity try a sample 😁
@@lianelikes You welcome. I'm gonna be happy watching the next video and see what you think of the inks, thanks for the reply. Greetings from Brazil, São Paulo, to you and your family 😉
Olive Green is one of those colours which can be seen very differently. If you look at some drops of very tasty actual Olive Oil, it looks like that of J. Herbin. If you look at a military vehicle (sometimes also referred to as "olive green"), it will be most likely very much darker into brown or almost black. And actual Olives can be anything from a broken yellow to a saturated brown-green or even sepia or black. One that was missed here was Graf von Faber Castell "Olive Green". They do not sell samples, but you could get a package of cardridges and cannibalise them for a swatch. No sheen, but a nice shader and a good, friendly looking writing ink.
You’re absolutely right, olive green has such color variation that one might have to break it up into sub-categories for a thorough ink comparison! I will have to try Faber Castell’s olive green, great idea with using up an ink cartridge, I will always try lovely shading inks.
R&K Alt-Goldgrün looks much brighter in a pen, close to Vert Olive. It has a lot of shading and I like it bc of the unique color and the very pleasant flow of ink. R&K is a German brand and you get a lot of ink for a reasonable price over here. All the colors I tested so far were intense and on the wet side without sheen. I like the Monteverde Olivine!
I love olive inks too. My faves so far are the R&K alt-goldgrun, Troublemaker kelp tea, FWP twinkling tea party, and Teranishi emotional olive. Do you know of an ink that's close to ina-ho? I missed out and now it's nowhere to be found 😓
